  1. No worries, it didn't occur to me to google, it's not the sort of thing that normally appears, so cheers. On other wanderings I found this marvellous article about an old dulite and world war one. http://thehamlethistorian.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/tom-rose-once-sport-always-sport.html
  2. *sorry ianr can anyone explain the reference, am I being a bit dense? I thought gingerbeer had returned. Mind you TUSCANYYYY......

"Apart from maybe mick did anyone read the article?" Is it longer than 140 characters?
  4. and a northern entrance....?
  5. Plus links with "midfuck" in and from a whole host of sites get disabled by work firewalls!! (yeah I suppose some might also do flickr, though so far nowhere i've worked) and whenever I've seen embeds that break the page then me old mucker mockney resizes them, takes seconds.
  6. as i said, link, embed meh. The spat was about history man effectively using the forum's servers as a repository of photos of local historical interest and then getting upset that admin was deleting them. He probably didn't know how to embed, and just supplied the links. The presentation is irrelevant to the problem really. Sorry to tar you with such an adjective, but I was just trying to provide a dedicated resource to help tackle a real problem - people complaining about their photos being deleted by admin, but not being bothered to actually do anything about it - with a workable solution. I try to do something and within moments I'm being told it's undesirable. The word sheesh sprung to mind ;-)
  7. Nice garden ornament btw, disturbing......
  8. embed, link, whatever. Given the recent spat on the CGF thread, I reckon it's sensible. Plus moderators can always edit the worst offenders This forum really does sap one's will to live sometimes, with it's wellspring of negativity.
  9. I've taken the liberty of setting up a flickr account for everyone to use (and a gmail for that matter) user: [email protected] pwd: ForumUser01 Hopefully people can get the hang of it. Upload the photo there instead of to a message, click on the share button of the photo and copy the code in the Grab the HTML/BBCode box (you can set the size and everything) Burden on server lightened, plus photo should never dissappear.
  10. Here you go Mr History, instead of burdening the Forum servers further, I've taken the liberty of setting up a flickr account for the forum login is: user: [email protected] pwd: ForumUser01 Photos can now be tagged and everything, hell geotag it if you want
  11. On the lane past sainsbury's la piba (despite my admonishments) tends to just go straight into it and go all the way to the top to turn into champion hill, often behind buses and has yet to get a fine
  12. Yeah, I thought only bus cameras caught lane infringements, and you're usually fine as long as you're signalling (either that or I've been very lucky umpteen million times)

I can't believe there isn't a treaditional Icelandic restaurant serving H?karl (putrified shark) and Brenniv?n (80 proof firewater) to wash it down with. It's a travesty that us decomparians are being overlooked so.
  14. Is Moxon's managed by Clive Dunn? Cool Actually I've always imagined ED History to look like that.
  15. in fact host them on flickr and just embed them on the forum and it'll never be a problem again
  16. Forum got to function though ain't it. Plus a forum like this isn't exactly designed to be a useful reference for anything much. I agree, set up a website or a blog and talk to computedshorty to get access to his treasure trove. If you'd like advice on how or even help I'd be happy to do so. Do it quick, I'm leaving East Dulwich...well, actually I left 9 years ago, but I'm leaving for further afield in a couple of months. Not sure D_C is is he?
  17. 37 used to be like that a few years ago too!

In fairness James is one of the longest running contributors to the forum, and I don't recall him banging this (boiled animal skin) drum in the past. Perhaps he just had an urge, or maybe the zeal (not veal!!) of the recent convert.

the baskets thing I guess. straw manning meat eaters as perceiving veggies that way, whereas "are you scared you might start standing on soap boxes, with wide rolling eyes shouting through megaphones or something?" would have been more accurate ;)

"So-called 'sustainable' restaurant fails to offer adequate vegetarian options. Face it, my point stands." That point stands. Nobody is denying it. The ony person trotting out stereotypes (in this case straw men) and picking a fight is you. Everyone else is saying, like the foie gras thread, enough is enough, please don't force feed this debate down our throats again (pun intended)
  21. Research on possible benefits over and above 'being good for you' is still pretty inconclusive from what I can gather. You'll probably accrue greater benefits by sticking to apples, giving up that coffe in the morning and ensuring you get a good nights sleep. It'll be cheaper at any rate.
  22. We might add this to the newspaper http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24814999
  23. Ha ha, poor old king cnut, autocensored out of the history books!!

As ratios go of facts to spats, that's pretty good!! Wait til it hits 26 pages :)
