  1. People are being offered 'upgrades' in hospitals for ?135 a night under certain circumstances- anyone had experience of this?

    Geezers

When you talk to the 'geezers' in my pic- you know they are geezers- and they are diamonds too!
  3. The drug angle is interesting. It reminded me of when my children were young and one was restless at night. An aquaintance (not a doctor or nurse) suggested I administer Ativan since she gave it to her toddler every night with great success. (Not my style so I didn't heed this 'advice'). It wasn't until later that I found out that Ativan is a benzodiazepam drug and therefore highly addictive. I don't know what happened to her poor child- I know she went on to have another one though!

    Geezers

The Millwall 'geezer' and the West Ham 'geezer' are cousins!
  5. I still can't get my head round the fact that they left the children alone in the apartment- my trust in doctors took a nosedive that day.
  6. There are no real deterrants...

  8. I went to a heavy metal festival and there were young kids there- they do have a 'quiet' field. A man had his child (about 4 years old) on his shoulders and the child had ear defenders on. We were all tipsy and having a laugh and letting off lots of steam (and this included swearing) and the stupid man gave me a filthy look when I used the f word at one point- what does he think these type of events are for?
  9. Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills- Pantera
  10. Is that irony jctg- 'your' all retarded? If not it's 'you're'. There is nothing worse than the omission of a necessary contraction.

  12. I can't understand why people throw away useable stuff when it should be recycled or donated to charity. There would then be no reason for people to go through the bins -UNLESS they are up to the old identity theft rubbish again and that began in the last 15 years when our doors were flung wide open to anyone who wanted to exploit us.
  13. FYI Thatcher's government did not starve schools. Because of local democracy the money allocated to Southwark council for schools was not spent 'at the chalk face' it was used as a political football and spent on admin at the town hall- in the education department of course- but the schools themselves were starved by the council-that is why some of them opted to become CTCs and got money directly. I daresay the same thing was happening in other public services. This is why politics is so dangerous- they are a bunch of self-serving do-anything-for- a -vote and there is not a shred of humanity or concern for the general public amongst the lot of them- imho.
  14. Oh Arnold Layne- he's back again......
  15. It never ceases to amaze me that people cannot accurately predict the success of Labour in the metropolitan areas- especially as time goes on and the populations increase. The ethnic vote has now displaced the 'white working class' vote of the '50s and '60s. The extent of Labour's mismanagement of the country when Blair and Brown were PM has passed the Labour voter of today by. I'm pleased to see the Greens improving their position- are they still campaigning to legalise cannabis?
  16. Beloved NHS NDP -don't make me laugh- it has been misused and abused relentlessly by the general population for decades!
  17. After the Fall- Journey
  18. I would imagine that the use of asbestos in this situation, where it could be disturbed, would have been outlawed years ago. (There was a frantic flurry of activity removing asbestos from schools in the early '90s). You might want to look it up on google.
  19. About 15 years ago I had a conversation with a Southwark Housing Officer and she said that they take tenants in arrears to court and then there is an agreement made for them to pay back their arrears and for most of them that are on benefits, the repayment amounted to about ?2 a week! I don't know if the same formula is applied today but if it is well....things can only get worse.

  21. (and as it's polling day) Things Can Only Get Better- D:Ream (nightmare more like)
  22. Must be politically correct especially in the polling station eh!
  23. An open skylight makes a lot of difference to the cooling but you need to remember to close it at night in case it rains. Also the sash windows could be a bit of a problem in downstairs rooms because opportunistic thieves could just get in if the bottom part is open.
