  1. Tell us how you really feel! I don't think anyone is arguing that it's impossible for a person to cross the road, but that on balance a crossing between the two current ones is justified. For the elderly, parents with young children, the disabled, and unfortunately for the dangerously impatient who make the road more hazardous for everyone. Taking your argument to the nth degree, you could argue the crossing outside Iceland is superfluous because people could cross down by the Plough.
  2. Maybe they're just relocating the bar and it's safely stored out the back ready to be reassembled? I hope so.
  3. All bottles still in place at 7pm this evening. I thought about taking a sniff (I had gloves on) but decided I didn't want to end the mystery or this thread. Sad as it is, I will likely take a diversion on my way to breakfast tomorrow to check the status.
  4. Couple more bottles neatly lined up on the corner of Spurling and Crawthew this morning.
  5. I agree. Sure he's a politician and therefore should expect criticism, but I think this forum would be a poorer place if he decided he'd had enough and logged off permanently. And though it's an issue on all internet forums, I agree as well that too many posts on here cross the line into abuse and less robust posters may be put off contributing. This will skew any 'aggregate opinions' noted here toward the extremes and make the forum a less useful tool for gauging ED opinion. Here?s hoping grumpyoldman that the responses to your post do not prove your point.

  7. Ha ha, make sure it's the brown bin for organic material (though you may be an organ donor in which case consider jumping in the blue recycling bin). I completely understand why people with little or no front garden are forced to leave their bins on the footpath. It's the people who just don't care who annoy me (this applies to most ED issues, not just bins). Anyway, I've already had a dodgy PM in response to my post so I'll stick to reading other grumpy people's thoughts from here on. Thanks all.
  8. As pleasing as the thought of the cops staking out a misplaced bin and rushing the offender when he turns up is, I'd settle for a quiet word from the council at this stage. Or maybe the binmen could just keep any bins left permanently on the footpath? Or maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy.
  9. I've noticed that since the larger blue bins were introduced more houses and flats leave one or more of their bins on the footpath, even if they have sufficient space in their front garden. This is annoying on narrow parts of the footpath and doesn't look that flash. Is there anything that can be done (I've considered a kung-fu kick to each bin but that will only help my anger and will not help the aesthetics).
  10. Waitrose please. This isn't snobbery, or anti-independent shops, or anti-Iceland, it's because Co-Op is rubbish and Sainsbury's is too far away. I'll still be buying my beer and lager from Boss Man's and my veges from the place with the van parked outside 24/7.
