  1. The word for me is 'judged'. He judged wrong. 5 years. I'm glad I don't have prison hanging over me for mistakes in judgment I make in my job.
  2. Aye, Huggers, if he did it to 'teach her a lesson' then fair cop, but as far as I know that wasn't the judge's reasoning; rather that he ought to have realised she was drunk and therefore not let the train go. And yes TED he's paid (poorly I'm sure) to keep people from danger, but one mistake and you're in the clink for 5 years?
  3. I'm sure this has been noted before on this thread (I'm too lazy to read the whole thing) but could I remind some cyclists that the footpaths in and around LL are not mixed use, they're for pedestrians only, and riding on them is dangerous. If you think you're hard enough, ride on the road like other cyclists. If you're too scared to do this without your Mummy or Daddy or your training wheels, then you'll need to do your hoody-thing on foot I'm afraid. Apologies, back to topic.
  4. Yep. It annoys me (a non-car owner) when I see my fellow pedestrians just step out brazenly onto the crossing and expect cars to come to a screeching halt. You've got to give them time, and ideally as someone else pointed out establish eye contact.

    Great Gigs

Violent Femmes at Sammy's Caberet in (I think) 1992. One of those concerts where you're convinced the band is having as good a time as you are and would have played for free. Dolly Parton at the O2 was pretty good too!
  6. I was about to recommend the spa at the Dorchester, but not for a wee one. When you're up for a bit of me time, and have saved your pennies, try a massage or facial followed by afternoon tea in your towelling robe (don't worry, there's a separate room for spa guests so you don't need to walk into the lobby half naked). Decadent but good. Seemingly the Goring in Victoria is good too.
  7. Thing is, I think a lot of ED people from a wide variety of backgrounds would be interested in contributing to specific causes (cf. issues) that they support or take an interest in. But contributing to an undefined cause with 'protest' as the only noted modus operandi is more difficult to commit to, even if it?s only an hour of their time to attend your meeting. You only have to read a few of the threads on here to realise that people have very different ideas of what social justice is (to use a flippant example, some consider the presence of a low-cost supermarket in ED to be social justice, others couldn't give a monkey's and just want Belgian chocolate coated raisins).
  8. No, thanks, that narrows it down nicely. Jessie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > @Worker - issues 'of a social justice nature, > either local issues of global issues'. Anything > else i can help with?
  9. Thanks Bic Basher, could you let me know where you sourced this info? Keen to check on any planned changes to the service during the 7 - 7.30am period (which works well at the moment).
  10. What issues? Jessie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If there was something more family-orientated, I'd > def want to get involved. 12. Shame on you, steveo. So, was it a photo of the guy and the wooden dildo, or was it a photo of the guy, and a wooden dildo, in the bag? steveo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm ashamed to say I want to hear more of this > story > > Annette Curtain Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > My Drama teacher Clive Scrimshaw, ran a pig > over > > with his escort van. 13. For convenience, mostly Co-Op. On the weekends we will get the odd bit of fish or meat, and bread, from local independents, or veg from SMBS. Oh and beer from Boss Man. I walk down LL on my way home from work, so pass most of these independents, but they're shut at these hours.
  14. Who gets into a golden Audi anyway? It's either going to be a drug dealer or a perv.
  15. Well yes, you did post that after your first post on your ride in the golden Audi, but my post was simply pointing out that it's not an unreasonable conclusion from your first post that you had a problem with the gay porn plastering the inside of this golden Audi. I would have. Not sure where I've accused you of homophobia or why my post desevess the response it got, but it's easy to misinterpret comments on this forum, eh? 16. Why descend to insults, kids? We disagree, big deal. Or are you saying you never pick on someone else's comments? KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Nothing wrong with the way El Pibe described his > experience. 17. Come on, your only description of the car or driver prior to you saying you asked to be let out was that it was covered in gay porn. It seems entirely reasonable for readers to conclude that that was what made you uncomfortable. Best man up and admit it; Lord knows I'd be put off by a car decorated in porn of any type. 18. You are very passionate about not having M&S in LL, UDT. Any reason, other than a fear ED will become a clone high street and you're too discerning for M&S?
  19. I'll take the bait (slow day at work). Why have you lumped women with prams in with fare dodgers, drunks and druggies, krishner? Not generally I note, just with respect to riding the bus. Otherwise good post.
  20. That's out of order, but also out of character for computedshorty. I prescribe caffeine.
  21. Decamp to the nearest Z-list nightclub. First team to score 10 glamour models wins. Maybe some sort of bonus award for multiples.
  22. How do we feel about runners, supposedly selected for their contribution to the community, selling their torches on eBay and elsewhere for thousands? Sticks in my craw a bit.
  23. How long is the OP allowed before he is deemed to have committed the crime he's complaining about?
