I don?t know why the OP asked the question, but you seem to think that whatever their motivation a sensible response is not merited. Maybe they live on Frogley Road and are concerned for their safety, or for their property, or that they need to be at an appointment in 10 minutes and the coppers have blocked their car in. Or maybe they?re just nosy. Either way, I understood that the EDF welcomed practical discussion as well as idle gossip. Remember, if people stop posting on here in case their post is deemed ?tired and dull? by the EDF elite, you?d have no-one to belittle and confuse with your pseudo-intellectual responses. Also, I think anyone who spends a lot of time on an internet forum is not best qualified to pass judgment on what is ?tired and dull?.

Thanks for the responses to my question. In summary, 'who cares?' (well yes, that was the point of my post), 'KFC potato'n'gravy is good' (agreed), and 'the tomato sauce test' (which seems an appropriately arbitrary and meaningless test to decide an arbitrary and meaningless distinction).

I am having an identity crisis, specifically with respect to the EDF. It seems many of the posters on here need to categorise their neighbours according to 'class' e.g. 'middle class', 'working class', etc. And their expectation is that other posters and their posts will fit neatly into one or another of these classes. So, neighbours, into which 'class' do I fall? - male - 40ish - NZ'er (so was not categorised at birth) but have been in London for a long time - father a teacher, mother a housewife, all grandparents 'working class' (having been born in Scotland and therefore assigned a category at birth) - work in a bank - love M&S's ready-made meals and KFC - own a house bought with money earned and saved by me and my wife - admire JB for participating in this forum regardless of his opinions - like the new crossings on LL - no discernable accent, or predilection for burgundy corduroy trousers or Reebok Classics Your help greatly appreciated. Worker.

No complaints from me; we've a 13 month old and have never had a problem having him seen by the doctors.

And be careful when using the pedestrian crossings; southbound traffic is going anti-clockwise through the roundabout and briefly along the right-hand lane of LL before cutting back to the left. So where you used to look right, look left, and vice versa. Or something like that. Anyway, take care.

Single family of 5 lived in our house in 1911 (3 bed terrace). Father an ambulance driver, eldest son a milk boy. The eldest was born in Constance Road, the middle in Nutfield Road, and the youngest in Lacon Road. Fast forward 100 years and there's a family of 3 living there and we're bursting at the seams. Time for a clear out I think.

Couple of trivial questions: - how should Lacon Road be pronouonced (just the Lacon bit, I think I've mastered Road). Laykin?; - where does this name come from? I've heard mention of a Bishop Lacon? Grateful for any answers, thanks all.

Trains to London Bridge in the morning are pretty reliable (save perhaps the 7.34am). I almost always get a seat; they are only overcrowded if there's been a delay or a cancelled train. Not sure what the effect of cancelling the South London Line will be though.

Sorry about the delay in responding and thanks for your posts, James. Funny you should mention the hospital as a potential site. There is a group proposing to set up a bilingual German/English free school in south London and the hospital has been touted as a potential location, but it seems a decision as to what use the hospital will be put will not be made until 2014. Does this tally with your understanding?

I share your frustration at the amount of dog sh*t on ED's streets, but I'm not sure e-mailing James B et al is the answer insofar as it shouldn't be a problem the Council needs to deal with in the first place. I'd add any other rubbish to that. Seeing our local street cleaner the other day I was struck by how frustrated he must get - literally minutes after he'd meticulously cleaned a section of street some pr*ck unwrapped his box of cigs and without so much as a quick look around to check if the coast was clear dropped the cellophane on the footpath. I boiled in shame that I didn't step out there and ask him to pick it up.

On another thread a poster described ED as having the ?highest birth rate in Europe?. Joking I'm sure, but you only have to play bugaboo dodge on LL on a weekend morning to realise that there are an awful lot of young kids in the area (including mine). Is anyone else worried about a shortage of primary school places in a few years? Or is this already happening?
