I would be delighted if the crossings went back in - the road has become a race track for some drivers and buses heading towards Peckham aren't much better. Gavin Edwards - I'm pleased, though surprised, to see you commenting on this and asking for feedback, since I emailed all our cllrs on this issue a few weeks ago and you were the only one not to respond at all.... If the crossings don't get reinstated, it'd be interesting to hear what other traffic calming measures will be used instead, given I understand that humps are not possible on roads that see lories and buses. It is a matter of time before someone is hurt, so I hope this is taken seriously by all our cllrs and MPs.

Insufficient visual harm - what do you think?
B&G replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It ought to be removed. It doesn't matter if it's not causing harm - it requires permission and they didn't get it. Planners seem all for it so it's unlikely they'll be refused. Rules is rules, and all that... -
Could you please post the link to the crowdfunding site, early_doors?

Replacement refuse bins- how to obtain ?
B&G replied to intexasatthe moment's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've just ordered one online and they emailed back to ask which size I was after. The email came from [email protected] - maybe give that a go? -
Food hygiene ratings - Scores on the doors
B&G replied to dbboy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Because there's no legislative requirement. Hence why 4 and 5 stars businesses will display and others tend not to. You can search for them online if you want to know more about each rating, though the majority are 3 star and up. Worth bearing in mind, too, that somewhere with a 2 star rating may decide to up their game and improve, but may not get revisited for another year or more. For example, the Co-op got checked recently and demoted from a 5 star to a 2 star following complaints about mice. They're planning a refurb in the next 12 months to address the issues but will likely have to live with a crappy rating until their next inspection, even if the standards improve. -
Possibly not the right section of the forum, so please forgive if not. Does anyone locally keep chickens? We're looking at getting a couple and it'd be a huge help to pop round and have a brief chat with someone who already does and look at your set up. I've no groundbreaking questions - just interested in how it works for you and how you cope with foxes?! Thanks very much B

We used to live by the Picture House and could always hear activity down there when things were going on. Drumming, music, the sound of singing - all of which are perfectly nice sounds and didn't bother us in the slightest. I actually quite miss it.

Just tried to get them round for a quote, but they aren't taking on anymore work until June 2016. Shame, they sound great.

Cordsm - me too! Can't find anything online but will keep my eyes peeled and try to get the info from staff. Would be great.

The Council won't replace the damaged tree in Dunstans Road

RCH! What's the grand plan...?! I have signed the petition, let's get some more signatures... https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/preserve-southwark-s-street-trees -
Agree Indiepanda - too tempting. Looking forward to Potager. And the Hammam Spa has popped up this weekend by the Rose pub? Exciting stuff.

Second the recommendation for Norris and Knight on FHR. Very nice place, good coffee, nice guys that run it and happy chickens in the garden. Re the closed down DIY shop, I heard from the chap there that it's apparently going to be a deli/ice cream shop? Be nice to have some more fresh produce on that strip (though the Turkish supermarket up the road is fab).

It's open! Popped in for a lovely coffee and a scotch egg for lunch - eggs fresh from the hens in their garden! Really nice place. Good luck Norris and Knight!

Otta - Carmina Burana. LOL.

We've got a Franke not a Quooker but I guess it's the same idea. I happen to think it's fantastic and don't regret the outrageous ?1k price tag! As the others have said, it's great for cooking and I hated the sound of the kettle bubbling away - it was so loud. We're moving now and it's my partner's number 1 on the to do list..!

Such a nice little stretch of road. I spoke to the builders at L'Auberge yesterday and it is the French Cafe that's moving up a couple houses. I wonder what it'll go in it's place?
-
Hi Louisa. The rooftop terrace is actually more of a greenspace accessed only via a store room. The proposal is for that space to be used for planting to meet the needs of the cafe(salad leaves, herbs, etc). The area backs on to residential gardens and bedrooms so probably not a great idea to have a drinking area out there! B

Really bad service. Also out from 4pm on NYE and all day yesterday. Spoke to VM 5 times, the first time they weren't aware of a fault and had to log it as a new issue. Finally called me back last night (at 10:30pm?!) to say we should expect an "intermittant service until the 7 January at 4pm". You'd think a weeks refund wouldn't be too much to ask, but apparently it is... -
Alcohol ads can be shown so long as no more than 25% of the audience is under 18. It doesn't matter that it was a 15, the film would have been demographically profiled to make sure this was the case. Very few slip through the net.

Agree with what's been said on here about Duck Egg Cafe. I haven't been back in the last 2 months, but when my partner and I went with our two friends we had to cancel our breakfast and leave after about 15 minutes. I think everywhere should welcome children, but the volume in there was unbelieveable. Perhaps it has more to do with the accoustics, but we had to leave. Otherwise I think most places are great. All the pubs let in kids who seem happy enough to be there, and there are plenty of parks and open spaces. I think the options for entertaining kids in the area are great. Imagine all the other places you could be..!

Hi DonGee. I found this website quite useful. You need to be identified by a social worker (or similar) as needing some additional help between a benefits assessment and the money coming through. They then issue a token that you can use to collect a few items from the foodbank to supplement other bits you may have at home already (or have been given). If someone is really struggling, they seem to be open to requests without the food token. http://lewisham.foodbank.org.uk/how-it-works

Thanks very much both

Oh dear, this isn't good at all. Have you tried Tweeting about it? I know that sounds ridiculous, but it often embarrasses them into doing something about it. Could be worth a shot?
