  1. I hope you find it! Will keep my eyes peeled. Great you had the route mapped.
  2. Were ear defenders not on your Christmas list?
  3. It's fab, you'll love it. Great parks, lovely people, very easy with a baby and young kids. You'll find a parent group easily. Loads going on. I don't think the transport is bad at all (we tend to use Peckham for quick links into the City, but we work there). If you can afford it I would. We moved here 10 years ago so thankfully.
  4. What's a "genuine plastic" tree? Are there trees pretending to look like plastic, which are pretending to look like trees these days?!
  5. Fab, thank you! I have booked an appointment with Paine and Hunter - they were really nice on the phone.
  6. I need some new glasses (and an eye test). Does anyone know which of the 3 opticians on Lordship Lane have a reasonably priced selection of glasses? They all look very fancy and I cannot pay ?300 for a pair of specs my toddler will likely break in a fortnight.... I'm guessing someone out there will also have pondered this and tried them all out! :) Thanks very much
  7. We tried to buy a house with knotweed in the garden and was told by the surveyor ?I would not buy this house at any cost?. Probably overkill, but it put us off and I imagine it will put others off too. I?d definitely start to get rid of it. It is absolutely illegal to dispose of it in anything other than very controlled circumstances so don?t put it in your brown bin! Good luck getting rid, you can definitely tackle it alone with the help of your neighbours and the right product.
  8. Would also highly recommend Classic Lofts. The guys there were brilliant and we are thrilled with the work, which has given us a loft space far superior to that I had imagined.
  9. Can highly recommend Dave from Down the Drain. Dave came out to help fix a blocked drain and did so in a matter of minutes. Great guy, really friendly and upfront about payment and costs on the telephone before he came out. Would definitely recommend.
  10. I think there should be more focus on Sheff marrying his neighbour and having both halves of the whole house. Awesome story!
  11. If only it's acronym was YMCA. Glorious. I think it is currently being called 'the new Dulwich health centre', but that's not it's actual name, IYSWIM? But in order to hold a vote on what it should be called, they have to call it something so we know what's being talked about. So it's will be a GP surgery in Dulwich on the site of the old hospital, but it isn't there yet. The Dulwich Medical Centre is a GP practice that currently exists and is not to be confused with the future, unnamed but currently referred to as the new Dulwich health centre. Geddit?

  13. Melbourne Grove medical practice and another a merging and a new practice is being built On the hospital site. Staff and residents have been asked to come up with a name for it, and now six options are available to vote on. One option is the Tessa Jowell Health Centre. The same Tessa Jowell who?s husband - whose legal practices lead him to be charged - was given a 4 year sentence for accepting bribes from Burlusconi. A claim he admitted, and subsequently denied. Who on earth thinks of this stuff? ***edited to satisfy someone who read the opening sentence of the David Mills wiki page**
  14. They were taking the brown bins away on our street last Thursday - the very hot day. Poor guys hopping on and off that lorry carrying those huge bins around whilst being beeped at by every other car, because the van they were driving looked like a regular truck and people were being impatient and intolerant. Has anyone resorted to padlocking their stickered brown bin yet, to avert brown waste fly tipping in the dead of night?
  15. My Dad had his bike stolen today from outside the IYOUALL shop on East Dulwich Road. That Scandie homewares one next to 999 beauty near to Anetos. Nicked by a white kid, about 12-14 years old. He rode off on it and his two mates, black kids, got on the bus. It?s my Dad?s only form of transport and he doesn?t have the funds to replace it The bike is VERY distinctive - if you see it crashed anywhere or offered for sale anywhere please, please, please get in touch.
  16. He?s still at it. Appalling dog ownership.
  17. Forest Hill Rd / Dovedail Road. There?s a big sounding dog howling away in the garden. Lives locally but I?m not sure where. If it?s yours: be a responsible owner and bring it inside before someone calls the noise team.
  18. Does anyone a telephone number that works for councillor Renata Hamvas? The one given out on these forums alternates between being a dead line and being engaged. Tried emailing her also but no reply. Thanks in advance.
  19. Sunbob - how responsible are they? Can yours babysit the baby whilst we go and drink heavily somewhere?
  20. 10:30! FFS. Anyone want to borrow a baby?
  21. Anyone know what time the music goes on until tonight? We live next door and it?s unbearably loud. Wouldn?t usually mind but I can tell I?ve got hours and hours of sitting with a screaming, knackered baby coming up and that?s enough to make anyone a miserable arsehole.
  22. Is check the waiting lists before bothering to visit. Multiple nurseries in ED have waiting lists of 2 years, so if you need a place before then you might be able to discount a few on your list! Good luck.
  23. We?ve just made the switch to Cheeky Wipes too and I?m annoyed I didn?t do it sooner. Brilliant product and will save us a fortune over the years (particularly given the water wipe type prices).
