  1. Welcome to the sad world of a personal vendetta, 2008-style. Don't be daft, Denise. Regardless of whatever axe you have to grind, you're coming across as a complete fruitloop and persistence will only end with you being banned from the 'excellent forum', as you put it.

(The same bottle of beer costs ?3.00 in the pub. Fancy that!)
  3. Ah yes.. 'the preparation'. I forgot about that. Imagine that.. not only having to do the job, but also prepare so you do it properly.. like in various other professions.
  4. That's fine, Brendan. There's nothing wrong with wanting more money, and nothing wrong with wanting to attract the best. But for God's sake ask them to put a sock in it about 'the marking'.
  5. Tell me about it... Just stating my position, in preparation for the onslaught of posts from teachers, fresh from the picket lines and pumped-up with adrenalin (and booze)
  6. Asset Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > are you nurturing future generations though *Bob*? This isn't about nurturing future generations; it's about trying to score a bit more money at an opportunistic moment. Good luck 'em if they get it (who doesn't want a bit more money?), but there's no moral high ground in play here.
  7. Young *Bob* is thick as two short planks - but he's got a nice face, which is all that really matters these days.
  8. It's not just the writing of the muzak that takes the time, it's the emptying out of the crumb tray. People always forget about this unpaid aspect of the job.
  9. Let's hope the owner hasn't tripped on the dog bowl and is currently lying unconscious on the kitchen floor - with Rex mournfully barking for assistance.
  10. Hee Hee I may moan about crappy aspects of the industry in work to others in my line (and be assured there is plenty to moan about), but I won't be asking for (or expecting) any sympathy from anyone else. It's my choice. It's a free world. I can do something else if I don't like what's on offer.

  12. Probably.. and imagine the difficulty of trying to march, shout slogans and mark all those papers at the same time. Phew!
  13. I'm surprised they have time to strike.. what with having to get up at 4am to mark papers, marking those papers well into the night and having to spend their meagre 13 weeks of holiday time marking papers every day too. (Not the teachers I know, who - just between you and me - enjoy their jobs and the free-time perks that come with it)
  14. Shops and services should grow around the needs and wants of the community that exists. The wannabee engineers of 'Bellenden Village' decided long ago on some crackpot notion of 'build it and they will come'. But they didn't. And the result is a bit of a dog's dinner. Not in a 'bad' way (I'm sure it's a fine place to live) but I just get the impression that if it'd been left alone and not meddled with as someone's pet project it would have found its own equilibrium by now and been all the better for it.

I'd recommend bunting instead of a flag, if you must. Bunting is BNP-proof.

Be warned though.. anyone who's seen Sean in the flesh (Doc Martins, shaven head, bloodshoot staring eyes, Swastika tattoo) will know that this is an offer not to be taken lightly.
  18. Look, I can get 'on board' at Christmas as there as presents involved. I can even 'do' Easter - if there's a high-quality chocolate egg in it for me. But all St George's Day has to offer is some fat-arsed, pot-bellied, pissed-up, tone deaf Chelsea fan waking me up at 2am as he chunders his 12 pints into the gutter. No thanks. At least the Irish can hold their drink.
  19. Yes.. if it wasn't for all the immigrants taking our homes, jobs, children, wives, parking spots etc etc we'd all be draped in the red and white and singing 'Land of Hope and Glory' and toasting the Queen on a momentous day like today. The real reason, of course, is that no-one can be arsed. And rightly so.
  20. Choosing a good bank is more important than how and when you use your (credit) card. One that spots dubious transactions quickly and doesn't leave you holding the tab whilst they sort it out. I'd recommend First Direct.
  21. If you own and use a credit or debit card, at some point your card is liable to be cloned. Whether or not you 'buy petrol locally' or put your card behind the bar at the Docker's Fist or not is meaningless. Not when there's a hundred other things you buy on the internet every year and are happy to supply all your details, including the security code. Most serial card cloners (with their various sources of collecting card details) are not foolish enough to go on that spending spree in Dubai ten minutes after you sign for your bar bill and retrieve your card.. not if it's a long term operation, which they usually are.

  23. Definitely the French. Although I hear the French are blaming the Belgians.

'Never say never'? I don't know if this goes in the 'never' or 'resist' list.
  25. Next time you're in a Chinese takeaway, I urge you to tap the pot - and watch their faces fall.
