There are worse things in pubs which should be banned first. Personally I can't stand walking into a pub only to be confronted by a wall of slacked-jawed, glassy-eyed zombies gazing silently at a giant screen and then bursting as one into a huge neanderthal roar as some overpaid ponytailed idiot kicks a ball somewhere or other. Possibly between posts. But then I just avoid these places. Job done.

And by all accounts (mainly her own accounts, actually) when she's finished with them.. there isn't much left.

Cheers, Lozzy Your the third person to mention the slow picture-taking thing, so I'm guessing it must be much more of a problem than on other phone cams. Perhaps I ought to stick with SE then - and leave the barcode scanning to the Somerfield checkout girls.
-
My last three phones have all been SE.. all it took was a quick read of a few reviews - a no brainer. But the K850i doesn't seem to be drawing the same no-quibble praise. The interface appears to have been shaken-up and isn't to everyone's liking.
-
Time for a new mobile phone. The only *crucial* factor is that it is my only source of taking photos, being as I am too lazy to carry a dedicated camera. It looks like a straight shootout between the Sony Ericsson K850i and the Nokia N95 (the new black one with 8Gb) - but a little online research has left me undecided as to which is best. Can anyone offer any opinions?

Britain seems to be obsessed with chicken. Chicken breasts especially. Whenever people talk about the cost of feeding a family, it always seems to come down to how much chicken costs. Like chicken is the only food on sale.

Ooooh the poor! What about the poor! Rubbish. Thirty years ago 'the poor' were more than capable of making the best of what they could afford and turning-out good food on the most meagre of budgets and with even less time (leaving room as they had to for the sewing, log-chopping, hand-washing clothes etc etc etc that most people don't need to do these days) People are lazy. They eat badly. They make excuses. That's all.
-
Of course - there are always cheaper ways of doing everything in life. You can rummage through a bin and get food for free if you want to. My point is, there is no excuse for anyone eating badly - regardless of income. Laziness and lack of education are the enemies of good eating.. I made dinner last night - ingredients all purchased in so-called poncey food shops on LL. Small piece of pancetta from the deli and a small pot of cream Bit of pecorino from the Cheese Block and half a packet of decent pasta Three tomatoes Half a dried chilli Time to prepare and cook - 20 minutes. . Family Meal - total cost ?2.90 Very tasty. Cheap as chips.
-
Sorry.. eating well is not expensive. If people can't be arsed to eat well, then they should just say so.. not blame it on having to pay a couple of quid extra for a chicken and then spend a fiver a day each on fags, booze and idiot cards.
-
Yes Sean.. Money is always the excuse and at least 75% of the time it's a poor excuse. Even when I was on income support (cue violins) it didn't take long to work-out that if I dropped the fags I could still eat reasonably well. It's an embarrassment that British supermarkets still do a roaring trade in their 'basics' product lines; that our national cheese is numbered 1 to 5 (for idiots) and that Iceland are proud to advertise on TV their sack of 100 sausage rolls for a couple of quid - fronted by someone who looks like she already did a bag of them in car park before the shoot. As regards restaurants, I agree it's good to know where the food was sourced, but seeing 'organic' plastered all over a menu would just serve to irritate: the word is becoming a bit of a joke now.

Dulwich Hi-Fi Station / Car Forecourt

There's a shop forecourt on Forest Hill Road which always seems to be chock full of old bangers for sale. But then it's on Forest Hill Road so who gives a shit. -
Dulwich Hi-Fi Station / Car Forecourt
*Bob* replied to captain_paxo's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I don't know what's going on. But I'll take a guess. The guy's owned the shop for years. Maybe he owns the property. One day, his mate says "'ere, Tone.. do us a favour and stick my old car outside your shop.. I want to get shot of it". The car goes outside the shop. Meanwhile, Sebastian Media has just bought a plush 4-bedder on Friern. He invites his Islington pals down to wow them with the delights of Moo 2 blah blah.. only to turn the corner and see a crumbling Almera plonked on the pavement with ?599! stuck on the front, hand-written in a black marker pen. He's not happy.. his pals laugh.. he looks like a right plum. The complaints begin to roll-in, but Hi-Fi man is undeterred. He digs his heels in and finds-out what his rights are. They include roping-off a section of the shop forecourt using bits and pieces found in a skip - guaranteed to annoy the complainers even more. Bring it on. I love the fact that there's now a large neon sign in the window saying "CARS FROM ?499" or something like that. I'm sure it wasn't there before. Hat's off to him.. It makes me laugh every time I walk past. -
26 Lordship Lane [next door to White Stuff] (Lounged)
*Bob* replied to Ultraconsultancy's topic in The Lounge
I don't want to piss on anyone's chips here, but it was never really a secret. It was just a bit shit - with potential. And now, with the coming of Oliver Bonas, that potential is about to be fully realised. -

How can you say that, MadWorld? It was their secret. But now Oliver Bonas is on its way - and the dream has died. -

.. and I wasn't joking about Footloose.
-
I didn't like Barton Fink (the Goodman one) at all. And Millers Crossing was ok but I expected more. I remember really enjoying The Hudsucker Proxy but that was a long time ago when I was young and foolish.. might need another viewing. Fargo is their best to date.
-
For me, 'Footloose' is right up there. Pure genius.

Ha Ha.. I like your style, Kid.

Making bread is boring. Unless you have a machine which does it for you at the drop of a hat.

"Served by mature polite and friendly people who understand their business well".. Nice plug, KidKruger. Expertly delivered.. and perfectly timed.

Actually, you're both wrong. The key activity as regards making bread with a breadmakers is.. not having to make the bread. When you first mow a lawn, you don't start of your hands and knees with a pair of nail scissors. You buy a lawnmower.
