This clip from ED's finest comedian demonstrates quite nicely the need for Americans to gets to grips with the Cockney accent as soon as possible [pre] [/pre]

SC - I kind of thought as much, but if a house is marketed with "planning permission granted for...." then that's pretty much guaranteed isn't it? i.e. Southwark couldn't grant permission for something then retrospectively withdraw that permission could they?

We're thinking of moving house and a few of the places we've seen, we'd like to do a loft conversion or extension. However, we would only buy one of these places if we were absolutely certain of getting the planning permission to do it. Does anyone know if you can/or have experience of getting planning permission on somewhere you want to buy before you actually do so? If so, how do you go about doing it - do you get the plans drawn up and ask the vendors to submit it? Or can you submit plans yourself for a property you don't actually own?

pablogrande is right - Toblerone became an Alp shorter so Poundland can still stock them! Cabury's also cut two chunks off to key the RRP. There was also a Panarama programme recently about supermarkets deliberately pricing stuff in a confusing way so people can't easily work out the best deal.

Consultation on South of the Borough Event
Husker replied to Renata Hamvas's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Surely the money would be best spent funding a proper, East Dulwich-wide CPZ consultation? -
Most tattooists won't tattoo you if you've been drinking. Apart from wanting to be responsible, they don't like it because you bleed more and you can't stay still as well when you are drunk so it's much more difficult!

Peckham rye park and the new dwellers
Husker replied to LaineyB's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Oh dear. LaineyB - if I ever need a nanny...remind me not to call you. Anyone who's an advocate of the Daily Mail's school of parenting and thinks it's "humorous" to refer to a someone sleeping rough who's probably homeless as "the new nature attraction" need not apply. -
Brought from both M&S and DFS in the past. I'd recommend both. Were only replaced because we moved or fancied a change - nothing to do with wear or quality.

No balls and the clubs have "general wear and tear." I think we all know what that means - ebay speak for "nakered." My offer is now ?0.90. Subject to delivery. Tomorrow. Morning. Between 9am-10am.

We are the people! BTW, just seen the clubs aren't a full set so I'm revising my offer down to ?1.05.

Golf clubs, you say? Will you take ?1.70 for them? Come on Waitrose!

Going through London Bridge station every day it has been pretty amazing just watching it go up.

Honda's enjoyed that platform in the past, but it's doing its best to screw that up by ripping up its current industrial relations model.
