Jimmy, broken-hearted (it seems a trite phrase/diagnosis but an existential pain became a constant in his life) and he resorted to the bottle (not in the least abstemious prior to this) but in a fashion that meant there was only going to be one outcome. Sorry, this isn't a thread for this, really, just my self-indulgent musings. Come, move on. Funny about the vapour trails though...

I was about to go on about it being Proustian and everything but I might want to visit Bradley's some time soon and I'm unsure as to the number of poets/writers might frequent it these days.
