Great thread title, edhistory! Interesting question. I wonder if it is similar to what is always said about the Alleyn's School running track on the field next to St Barnabas church? The story goes that the spoil from the digging of a tube line was dumped there, making the hill even higher than it already was. There is quite an embankment as you go from the top down onto the field below. The bank can be clearly seen from Townley road. I heard that the spoil came from the Piccadilly line, but that seems unlikely as it is so far away. Bakerloo seems more likely. I wonder if anyone can confirm this story??
I believe if you own 65% of a property, then when you sell it, you get 65% of the sale price. It is irrelevant what you paid for that 65% share. So, if the HA owns 35%, they get 35% of the price you get when it is sold.
I disagree on this occasion. I think a garage bill could easily reach ?400. You can rack up ?200 plus just on a major service sometimes. But on the second point I agree with the others. Scrap it.
I think you are wrong about citizenship being "very irrelevant"! It is meant to help you cope with the modern world. At least their shouldn't be any homework with it. It sounds like Eng Lang wouldn't suit you at all either. The extended project WILL be more work though, but at least you can choose a topic from one of your A levels to do it on, which should help, especially if its on a science subject. Can you give up one of the 4 subjects in year 13? That would be good. Most unis are only interested in 3 A levels.
I quite agree, peterstorm. James has made a very helpful contribution to this forum for a number of years and resident25yearsED's comment is ignorant IMHO.
