  1. Thank God TT3 seems to have calmed down a tad. He was getting very tedious.
  2. Blood - the Editors
  3. Peckhamboy said Neither did you read my post properly!! The 16 weeks holidays (if only that is what they were! Holidays!) don't seem to stop teachers burning out in their 50s. Does that happen in your job? Which is what, please? But as you say I don't want to hi-jack James' highly useful post so I shall follow your lead and not say any more.
  4. Woman - John Lennon
  5. Man, I feel like a woman - Shania Twain
  6. Dear Peckhamboy, What fantastic ignorance you display! If you think teaching is as easy as your job, then have a look on Jamie's Dream school, on iplayer (or whatever they call the one for C4). Do you think you could cope with those teenagers on there? And there's no let off if you have a hangover, at 0900 (or whatever) you can't just sit at your desk and keep your head down below the parapet, you have to get up and teach 11Z for 60 minutes. Believe me, if you are not on the ball, they will tear you to shreds. And then at 1000 there will be 9Z, at 1100 8Z, maybe you'll then get a coffee break (when several other kids will demand your attention so you can't even relax then.) And it goes on till the end of school when you can then put your feet up and relax with some lesson planning for tomorrow, plus several sets of marking to complete. Very few teachers in difficult schools don't suffer from some sort of burn out in their 50s. And imagine coping with those teenagers when you are 67, like the government is now asking! If a teacher retires at 65, their life expectancy according to the actuaries in the insurance industry is just 18 months. Why? because teaching in your 60s puts a massive strain on your system. You have to be alert 100% of the time, there is so little down time at all. Try it for yourself!
  7. Paint it black - Rolling Stones
  8. John K What do the colours signify on your map? All maps should have a key I was taught in geography!

  13. as fazer71 said What are you on about here, fazer? Please explain for those of us in the out crowd.
  14. I agree. They have both done a fabulous job over there (and generally, in fact). Liz's gaelic was particularly impressive. It fair warms the cockles of me heart.
  15. Town without pity - Gene Pitney
  16. The one postal district that doesn't seem to fit is Upper Norwood, which follows SE18 Woolwich. Maybe it was added at some stage before ED, Herne Hill etc. I am wrong, there was a S code at an early stage, later split into SE and SW. milk76 has it right.
  17. No, Tony, they weren't in the SW zone, and there'e never been a S code either. It was literally that there was a second wave of SE districts created, some years after the first ones. There is a NW postcode, though no NE one. N and E cover that area.
  18. Because - I believe - ED was in the second set of (slightly) outer London codes, which are again alphabetical - as SE20 Anerley SE21 Dulwich SE22 East Dulwich SE23 Forest Hill SE24 Herne Hill SE25 South Norwood SE26 Sydenham SE27 West Norwood Thamesmead, SE28 was added in the 70s or 80s Send me the kudos now please!
  19. As an appendix to Pearson's good points posted earlier, I would merely add that people should strongly consider getting a FOLDING BIKE. These can be stored inside the smallest flat, and sit next to/under your desk at work. Therefore no expensive locks needed. Lots are available - Brompton's are expensive but favoured by many, but there are other cheaper makes with larger wheels.
  20. Summer wind - F Sinatra esq
  21. Boys of summer - Don Henley
  22. Whispers - Ian Brown
  23. Careless whisper - George Michael
