  1. A member of staff told me that they'll move the bar upstairs, to where the restaurant is now and move the restaurant downstairs. The 'conservatory' will be turned into a more permanent structure and will be restaurant as well. The entrance to the pub will once again be through the actual front door, like it used to be before the refurbishment. I think it'll be a lot better. At the moment the bar area is very small and not very nice. Putting the bar back upstairs will be so much better.
  2. I would like to recommend Paul at Dulwich Plumber. He came over today to fix our central heating after it developed some sort of fault while away on holiday (came home to a freezing house, 12C, lovely..). Paul is a very nice guy, polite and obviously what he's doing. House lovely and warm now, one very happy customer :-)
  3. Sports Direct does great skiwear, very affordable! When the kids were small we always used all-in-one skisuits. When they just start to learn there's a lot of falling over, all-in-one ensures they stay warm and dry. Just make sure you bring several pairs of gloves as they can take quite long to dry properly.
  4. Apple cider vinegar! Use either the cotton wool/tape method or just put your foot in vinegar for ten minutes. Worked amazingly for my son.
  5. Try Bio-Oil. Absolutely fantastic stuff. I tried everything under the sun. Even went to see a dermatologist who prescribed some awful cream. In the end I gave bio-oil a try. Just put it on twice a day. Amazing results. It is very cheap. A bottle cost around ?10 and will probably last you for a year at least.
  6. There is a place on Wood Vale where you can do pottery painting (or at least you used to, it's a few years ago I last was there). Really lovely place, a studio in the back of a large garden. The lady who owns the place is lovely. Much more personal, relaxed and certainly more fun. No idea if they would cater for birthday parties though. The telephone number I've got for them is: 85160002, 39 Wood Vale, SE23
  7. I would like to recommend Dave from Down the Drain. We had a blocked outside drain, this seems to happen every few years. So far we've always had a well known company in, charging us a small fortune. Thought I'd try Dave. He arrived at the time we agreed, did the job and his prices are extremely competitive. Very nice guy as well! Highly recommended. His phone number: 07919 107868 or 020 83145244
  8. The new ice rink/leisure centre is in Streatham, more or less where it used to be (on the High Street, close to Streatham Common). There's an enormous new Tesco right next door, you can't miss it. I think you'll have to go and have a look, they don't seem to answer to email and I haven't been able to get hold of a phone number. I did go and see it last Saturday and it is very nice indeed. Huge ice rink, very beautiful!
  9. Another vote for Kuki on Bellenden Road. Have been going to Trevor Sorbie for many years, but they were just getting too expensive. Had a brilliant haircut for ?40 at Kuki's. As good as the haircuts at Trevor Sorbie (costing well over ?100).
  10. We've used Express Bifold Doors and are very happy with doors & service.
  11. Give Stephen Stafford a call. He's tuned my piano every half year for the past 10 years. He's completely reliable and does a great job. He charges around ?45. 020 8697 2546
  12. Give Ness a call, she has looked after my cat several times and also did a few weeks of housesitting for me during the summer. Ness is very lovely and completely reliable, I absolutely recommend her. Ness: 07952 779759
  13. I stayed in one of these apartments a few years ago. http://www.dedriekoningen.be/?lang=en Very beautiful apartments in the middle of town.
  14. Dulwich Woodhouse Pub on Sydenham Hill is lovely.
  15. There's a great place on the way to Ikea, Purley Way. http://thebankruptshop.com/stores/ All fabric ?3 per meter (they only do upholstery and curtain fabrics). Maybe worth a try.
  16. Went to Edyta's tonight, after reading about the restaurant on EDF. We were not disappointed! The food was fantastic, all cooked from scratch. We had chicken roulade with spinach, fried potatoes, roasted salmon with cooked potatoes, dumplings, another main with sausage & bacon, a beautiful tomato soup with noodles, carrot salad, polish apple pie. For 5 of us the bill came to ?42. We brought our own wine, so just drinks for the children. Service is very, very friendly. We'll certainly go back.
  17. Just finished reading Two Brothers by Ben Elton. Great read!
  18. Found these beautiful tiny works of art on a wall outside the Crown and Greyhound Pub in Dulwich Village.
  19. The same thing happened to a friend of mine a few months ago. Same car wash, also Iphone. Police got involved, but couldn't do anything. Absolutely terrible. Avoid this place!
