And in my view much more 'natural' than all these 'engineered' wood floors - which simply look like pricey laminate to me.

I think cork or brightly coloured rubber is good (wears well but needs treating annually). Otherwise paint the boards and mask with rugs as Sue suggests.

Thanks so much for posting this link nxjen! Comedy Gold. Can't remember the last time I've laughed so much.

Didn't think we'd get snow today.... looking at the weather map it must to be the tail end of the weather hitting East Anglia.
-
It's snowing! I hope the semi-hibernating frogs are well ensconced somewhere.

It's not really that simple though, is it? I see the government's error here as one of omission, not commission - but that's not reassuring. For me the central issue illustrated is that one couldn't trust these people to post a letter - let alone undertake the mammoth legislative task ahead of them.

Beautiful bird song in the garden this morning. I'm not good enough at identifying song to know which birds responsible! But really heartening. My neighbour is a great reader and told me about the Thomas Hood 'November' poem some years ago - 'No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds, November!'. Wish Thomas were alive today to experience this glorious morning!

The debasement of public life and political language has been shockingly rapid. Whatever happens over the next two years, we won't get that back in a hurry.

JohnL Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just don't think that would be in a UK newspaper I certainly agree that we don't get near full enough coverage on this issue. The paralysis that's overtaken political life since the referendum is to some extrent evident in the media too.

I'd suggest anyone pushing you to rate those 'identities' in order is insecure in their own sense of self. The Australian article is good. Can't say I see anything unexpected or strange in it though. Are you referring to Adonis, Clarke and Clegg's trip to Brussels?

When I take a step back from simply being very angry that he's contributing to ruining the country, DD intrigues me. Is he, I wonder, simply very dim (the whole 'thick as mince' theory)? Or has he so surrounded himself with 'yes men', that he really has no idea of how his pronouncements sound to the world at large? I guess taking the latter course is a sign of great foolishness in itself.

OOH LOOK, A SQUIRREL!" I'd agree with the squirrel theory.

I'm so sorry Lynne. That sounds like a very difficult situation - and frustrating to say the least! But yes. In my experience even different hospitals/clinics in the same district have no sharing of information. I had some split treatment between Kings' and St Thomas' and soon found that they were unable to access each other's scan results. I now carry a file with relevant medical records to every appointment.

Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'm > aware that many foreign people here have been made > to feel unwelcome. I'd echo your views on this Alan Medic. I feel a new sense of discomfort when meeting immigrants to the UK now. I'm deeply dispirited by the fact that the xenophobic, little-Englander side of our nation has come to the fore since the referendum result. I'm ashamed of this side of the country. These views are based, of course, on complete ignorance of history and economics. So that makes me furious - as this approach impoverishes us all - both literally and culturally. But I'm also all too aware of how hurtful and disruptive this political change has been to the lives of individuals. That's shameful.

Yes. A fox.

red devil Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I don't buy into the scaremongering theory that if > Brexit didn't happen there would be huge civil > unrest. Of course there wouldn't! The very suggestion is just part of the ongoing post referendum 'Leave' campaign. But I don't think any kind of remotely favourable 'transition' deal is possible. The MEPs from the remaining 27 wouldn't agree it.

So comforting that DD has such an impressive grasp of the situation. Love his reference to 'Czechoslovakia' (last seen January 1st 1993).

Still can't work out how we got to the point where the country is run by people who'd be out of their depth managing a medium-sizd M and S.

I keep disturbing frogs trying to hunker down for hibernation - stressful for all concerned. Just have to be ultra cautious when moving anything I guess.
