There is a petition calling for the police to reverse that decision: https://www.change.org/p/metropolitan-police-let-protesters-march-against-trump-on-4th-june?recruiter=198717631&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=share_petition More info also at: https://www.peoplesworld.org/article/london-activists-you-cant-stop-us-from-marching-against-trump/

You can also get free one-to-one advice from Shelter by email through the website. Also, if you have free legal advice attached to Contents Insurance/professional membership/union it would be worth having a chat. Although boilers come under landlord's responsabilities, if he is being problematic it is worth the time to get some free legal advice.

  6. If we have paid a subscription James, when can we expect to receive our stickers? Is that likely to be 60 days as well? And will brown bin collections continue past 1st June as they are whilst the system gets up and running?
  7. Become a YouTube star/Instagram "influencer" ... or professional gamer - apparently they can make a pretty good income. There's a gap in the market now that Grumpy Cat has passed on to higher things.
  8. 'Lol maybe it's art of a plot by Southwark to make us pay for all recycling 🤐' Don't give them any ideas!!!! I have never had a problem with them coming round after a reported missed collection, but maybe I've been lucky so far on the couple of occasions I've had to chase them up. Local councillor intervention???
  9. You can report a missed collection/missed collections online at: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/bins-and-recycling/report-a-missed-collection
  10. Hope it all sorts out soon and without too much stress for you.
  11. Have you got access to free legal advice via home insurance or membership of a union/professional body? If so I would get initial advice through them, otherwise it maybe a question of a solicitor's letter to the owner if the tenant and/or landlord's agent are obstructing your right to access your property. If you are a leaseholder you could also look at the advice guides on here: www.lease-advice.org. If you go to the contact us page there is a means of contacting them for advice appointment over the phone.
  12. You can get 10-year smoke and heat sensor alarms (see: https://www.safefiredirect.co.uk/smoke-fire-gas-detection/smoke-heat-detectors/10-year-smoke-detectors.aspx and https://www.screwfix.com/p/fireangel-tst-620q-10-year-thermoptek-smoke-alarm-2-pack/42801 for examples). I have a ten-year heat sensor alarm in my kitchen. They use long life lithium batteries, but are 'sealed for life' so you would have to replace the unit after ten years.
  13. Still waiting for my booklet. Has anyone at the Horniman end of Underhill received one yet??
  14. Still waiting for the promised second letter here. What an ill-thought out scheme.

  16. Excellent news. Home just in time for the Easter holiday.
  17. I thought the big show was tomorrow, but it is very large and bright tonight. It is putting on a great light show! [https://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/pink-moon-april-2019-orange-full-when-time-a8875936.html]
  18. Very shocking to see the photos and footage. Beautiful cathedral. Papers reporting that Macron has pledged to restore the cathedral and a French billionaire has pledged E100 million towards the restoration. Hopefully it will be like the Basilica at Assisi after the earthquake in 1997 and it will be restored to its former glory.
  19. It's odd - there is definitely someone a little light-handed in that area. When I lived on Soames St a few years ago I mulched the front garden with bark chips before going on holiday and someone had meticulously removed virtually all of it from around a lot of plants by the time I returned.
  20. Only Sarah Rose Cresswell I have found online is based in Ireland: Sarah-Rose Cresswell Dublin Institute of Technology | DIT ? School of Real Estate and Construction Economics
  21. Had an ebay order delivered today ... Well, the jiffy bag at least - the envelope had been cut open and the contents stolen. Peckham Sorting Office perchance?
  22. The Guardian is reporting expectations in the Civil Service for public inquiries into various aspects of Brexit: https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/mar/23/calls-grow-for-public-inquiry-into-brexit
  23. The Neighbourhood Vet on Lordship Lane is open until 7pm today. You could pop in to get him scanned for a microchip.

Democracy, like society, is not static DF. To quote a Brexiteer, 'If a democracy cannot change its mind, it ceases to be a democracy' (David Davis MP, 9/11/12 during his speech 'Europe:it's time to decide'. Given the pig's ear Cameron, May and the Government have made of Brexit, the people have a right to look at Brexit again and even change their mind if they choose to.
