  1. My son has outgrown his mini micro scooter so for his birthday we are wanting to buy the next stage up. From research there are 2 I think: Maxi Micro - goes up to 12 and basically looks the same as the mini but is bigger Micro Sprite - aluminium and only has 2 wheels Can anyone let me know which one i should go with? I think I'm leaning toward the micro sprite as it goes to adult whereas the maxi micro says up to 12. The things that turning me off the sprite is that as it's got 2 wheels it doesn't stand up by itself which could be quite annoying in the hallway or something? Anyway, any views muchly appreciated. Thanks Edited to say - he is a bike rider as well so unsure as to whether he'll be using the scooter much into the teens anyway???
  2. As always am in awe Pickle Countjc - amazing - u r looking fab - can't wait for you to come and join Pickle and I running :) I had a bad week and put on half pound. I really struggled all week actually. My knee is hurting so i haven't been running which i know wouldn't make me put on weight but I just feel so much healthier when I run so I don't get tempted by anything - if that makes sense. Bizarrely this week although I counted everything and stuck within points I was just a lot less healthy - i.e. instead of having a chicken breast for 5 points i might have had a crunchie bar for 5 points!!! (bad example but you know what i mean) - i just wasn't very unhealthy although kept within points I'm a little spoilt this week in that I'm going to Wimbledon tomorrow for the tennis and then Lords on Fri for cricket - both of which end up being very boozy - agh - luckily though i'm taking a picnic on both days and have just taken my Ocado delivery so I know I will be able to count my food points very clearly and then I just have to be mature with the booze and as my mummy says to me regularly - just learn to say no!!!! - fingers crossed I'm mature and sensible and don't just make the most of not having the kids for 2 days :) Hows everyone else getting on?
  3. Hi, just a few things that are a huge hit in our house playdoh filling up sink with water and plastics and let him wash up - put towel on floor for any spillages sandpit in garden play kitchen (more of a hit with my daughter than son at that age) cbeebies website apps on your phone stickers - this is a HUGE hit with both I'll get back to you when I can think of more things
  4. Fab, thanks, I'll keep an eye on this thread
  5. I think this is a fabulous idea. Could you do a pirate or knight themed one - would definitely be interested for my son
  6. Nikki - please don't lose heart i promise it will happen. One question - did u eat enough points? the weeks that i haven't eaten enough are the weeks that i haven't lost and put on. Don't give up. If it helps write your points here for Pickle (who's an absolutely superstar and my motivator) to check over - sorry Pickle- hope you don't mind me offering your services Good luck
  7. Yes I think guessing is only way when someone else prepares. I always err on more than less I'm a huge fan of roast butternut squash. Taste yummy hoy or cold. We normally cook 2 on a Sunday so I have snacks the whole week. I also make a weight watchers hummus to eat with veg - search weight watchers hummus and there are loads of recipes There are also some yummy ww chocolate bars that r only 2 points each and are a great treat. You can buy from official weigh in or most supermarkets I wasn't able to make official weigh in today so weighed in at home and lost 1.5 lbs which of course I'm happy with but do feel I should be losing more with all the running that I'm doing. It's heading the right way though. How's everyone else's weigh ins gone.
  8. I pay mine ?45 a day and that includes lunch and tea - works out at ?5 an hour I'm not sure of after school costs I'm afraid
  9. BB - pls don't fret, just remember that you've continued counting. It's so easy when you have a blow out to just give up counting and then you don't know where you stand. Just remember that you are allowed these points. Continue counting as normal for the rest of the week and I bet you will be pleasantly surprised Fingers crossed and keep us informed.
  10. I agree. We got Box 4 Blox at Christmas and it's great and makes tidying and playing sooooo much easier :)
  11. Bb - fantastic. Well done you. Ditto to what Pickle said - first week is normally a biggy and now it will ease off. Again please dont be afraid of your weeklies as my biggest loss weeks are when I've eaten those. Treat yourself - a crunchie is 5 points!! Well done you. I've been exercising like crazy this week as I've got my brothers 40th this weekend and I know the alcohol will be flowing - I must be sensible!!!
  12. I was only kidding Helen :) Totally agree its a great thread :)
  13. Well done nikki73 - i promise counting points does get easier. do u have a smart phone? i log all my points on my iPhone and it's so easy as most of the time it calculates for me and also lets me know how many i have left for the day. again the smart phone (but also on the website) works out activity points for you - you put what you've done and for how long and it'll tell you how many points you've earnt. i try and eat into my weeklies but i don't normally touch my activity as I find i don't get hungry with all my weeklies as well good luck and please shout with any questions - you won't regret it :) xxx
  14. Pickle - so so so proud of you. Well done. You thoroughly deserve it Only 1/2 lb loss for me this week. It's still a loss but a bit gutted as tracked tracked and ran ran!!! However just measure myself and lost another inch off boobs and waist in just a week so know I'm losing :) How's everyone else?
  15. Nooooooo HelenGV - you're not allowed to resurrect my drunken embarrassment :). So thought this thread had left me for good So how have things changed for me .... I still get drunk and far to vocal he he. But seriously I met some friends on here due to this thread who I now couldn't live without. I feel like I've known them for years and are true friends rather than just baby friends. So although I'm embarrassed I'm glad I got drunk :) Self esteem wise things are so much easier as the kids r older and therefore there's less play groups and more kids having play dates and me seeing friends for coffee when they r at school/childminder so I'm not having to out myself out there as much - if that makes sense The other thing that has helped me beyond anything else is my weight loss. Nearly 3 1/2 stone and I'm running (thanks to Pickle) and getting fit so am feeling on top of the world and so much better than ever before. I think more than anything it's the weight loss that has helped me feel happier with myself :) How's everyone else doing? And to the people who didn't read the thread first time round I hope it helps like it did us Xxx
  16. Welcome all newbies - I love this thread and it does really help keep me motivated To all non runners out there I just wanted to let you know it's doable - basically I did my first run Easter weekend and couldn't run for 2 minutes (Pickle - how far - i'm thinking literally about 400m when i died) - anyway, tonight I just ran 6.17 miles in 1 hour 11 minutes - oh my goodness, i ran for over an hour - and although my legs are hurting now at the time i felt on top of the world but came home cos i knew my husband would start worrying!!! so.... do it. There's a great app called couch to 5 which basically takes you from a non runner to being able to do 5km. it's a jog for 1 minute, walk for 2 minutes kind of approach and everyone i know who has done it thinks it's fab To those who struggle due to kids etc there's a great fitness video called 30 day shred by Jillian Michaels (i think that's her name - basically she's the American behind Biggest Loser) - and it's a 20 min work out that really really really works. There are 3 levels so you start on level one until you can do it easily and then move up. It's either great to do when kids sleep or I actually do it and my kids sort of play around me (or watch and attempt to copy!!!) - it's great for those who struggle for time.
  17. I also absolutely love the online stuff When i lie in bed in the morning I work out what we're having for supper (and whether I'll be boozing) and then I work out breakfast and lunch accordingly. I try to always have porridge in the am if i'm going to exercise however if I know i'm in for a big night i'll just have fruit salad. So basically I work backwards. I used to track using the tracker book however it's so much easier doing it on my iPhone as it allows me to use my weeklies easier and although I don't use my activity points it's nice to see how well i'm doing on that front too. I think working backward also allows me to know whether i can sneak in a treat during the day as well - which i normally try to do :)
  18. That's amazing Grotty - well done you - amazing being happy with yourself I lost another 1.5lb this week which takes me up to 42 lbs which i'm thrilled with. I feel my head is back in the right space again and having run 4x and cycled twice this week i'm hoping for another good week next week. Just need to get past the weekend without boozing - i'm trying to cut down on the alcohol which i know is my downfall when my weight loss slows down. My son starts school in Sept so I would like to have lost the majority of the 2 stone I've still got to go before my first drop off so onwards I plod :) Please stick with it eco - I truly believe ww is a great way to sensibly lose weight without changing our life (i.e. continuing to have treats and booze) - but even if it isn't ww keep at you, you won't regret it :) Keep it up everyone
  19. I would also like to recommend Steve. He came round and quoted promptly and worked very hard throughout the day. The results were great and I would definitely use him again. Highly recommend
  20. Hi eco I really believe exercise is key. Even if it's walking it all helps. WW has a fabulous pedometer which not only counts your steps but also calculates how many activity points you earn throughout the day. It really made me go the extra mile when i normally would have been a bit lazy - i've even been known to pace my ground floor in order to earn another point!!!!
  21. Pickle is - I'm obscenely jealous with the amount of food she's allowed to eat - mmmmmm
  22. Great weight loss Pickle. I'm weighing in tomorrow am as was away this morning so fingers crossed. Am about to go for a run with Pickle now - thank goodness it's stopped raining and on Monday I ran 5.22 miles for the first time (literally at Easter i'd never run before although had been v sporty at school just never thought i could run) and now i'm addicted :) Grotty - my best weight loss weeks have been when i've eaten all dailies and weeklies AND activities. I have had a slow down over the last few weeks and I know it's because I haven't been eating enough - however bizarre that sounds! Although i've still got a long way to go - 3 stone down and about 2 to go - i'm beginning to feel good in my clothes so i can't tell you how much happier i am being me :) Keep it up everyone
  23. You can have my boobs. Last place it goes From and I hate them.
  24. So I stayed the same this week. A but gutted as have been running a lot as well as swimming but I've come to realise that now I'm 3 stone down its going to get a bit harder. I have been using my weeklies for alcohol and I think that's now biting me on the bottom so I will continue my eating plan (and counting) but slow down on the booze and replace it with healthy food points. Fingers crossed for a good result next week. Amydown - that's amazing well done. Pickle - I weigh in with her every week as well as that she's my sounding board and running partner - I'm jealous of her stats :) but as we discussed today she measures her glasses of wine in a measuring jug whereas I have been measuring by the bottle!!! It's about time 2 glasses will have tO do me :) How's everyone else?
  25. Does anyone know which of the parks have opened their water parts ie Brockwell, Ruskin, Myatts Fields? Thanks
