I LOVE the John Lewis ads....this year and last years one was also fab! In terms of ads we hate.....be grateful we are not in the States - with their droning infomercials! Every two bloody minutes!
  2. Just a quick one to say good luck with this. We have been trying for four years with "unexplained infertility" and have had two ICSI treatments at Kings ACU - I had a great response - they got 12 eggs each time and we had good quality embryos - but sadly neither of these cycles worked. We will be having our third (and final) treatment with Kings in the new year. All the staff at Kings are great and very supportive and the new unit is lovely and modern (old unit was awful!) Our referal was very quick and simple and we got seen very quickly within 2 months for tests etc and at that time there was a 4 month waiting list for NHS treatment - but this is dedendant on your PCT not Kings ACU (I fall under Lewisham PCT - who will only fund one cycle). There is no watiing list for "private" i.e. self-funded treatment - our first treatment was NHS and the second was self-funded which all in all cost approx ?4,200 inc the drugs. I hope my post doesn't sound negatinve - but I also wanted to express the "not so fairytale" side of things and to reccommend Kings.
  3. Thailand - 2 weeks - 4 nights in Bangkok - 10 nights in Phuket. Somewhere I'd always faniced going, but for us time of the year was the deciding factor - we got married early November. Amazing time......would love to go back.
  4. Very helpful thread....thanks!! Not having access to hotmail in the office has meant my inbox was out of control. This is mush better!! :)
  5. I'd say stay in a hotel. Did you also know that if your flight is before 8.30am you can check in and drop off your luggsge the night before the flight? We do this all the time, it means in the morning you just breeze through security with your hand luggage and can have an extra hour's sleep. (check with the airline though - we have always done this with Easyjet, so I imagine others offer this service too)
  6. I'd highly reccommend Liene - user name Liencis. I was recommended her through the EDF - and she came to tidy my garden this week. She did an amazing job. I can't believe how much she got done in 4 hours. Her rates are very reasonably and she has all her own tools and took the rubbish away. Now that she has done the inital clean and tidy she is coming back to give us some advice for ongoing maintenance and making the garden more appealing. You can contact her via the EDF. https://www.white-edge.co.uk/
  7. I personally hate the phrase "close of play" or "cop" as it is frequently referred to in emails. I refuse to use it! Why can't we just say by the end of the day...!?
  8. Yes, you can get off at Shadwell. The train and DLR are two different stations.
  9. Normal service has been resumed:(.....
  10. Sorry - it's still glorious in the city!
  11. I would like to take sole credit for this! Having lived since Pre-Xmas without an umbrella I bought one at the weekend, hence now the sun is shining and my unberlla is just taking up handbag space! No need to thank me people.
  12. I can highly recommend Amazones Village Suites in Piskopiano Crete. It's a hotel....not sure why it is called a village. But each room is very spacious with a separate sitting / dining area and large bedroom. All room also have a balcony. The rooms ARE self catering, however the hotel also does food on site and there are many local tavenas with very very good food. Have a look at it http://www.amazonesclub.com/village_eng_about_us.htm Very reasonable prices too. We usually fly with EasyJet and a taxi transfer is about 45 Euros. Good luck
  13. Thanks guys. I'll definitely look into the hotels and the travel agent. I know that driving is the eaay and sensible option - but we don't tend to drive when we are abroad (nervous of other local drivers and getting lost!).
  14. My husband and I would love to go to Italy this year (never been). I'm looking at maybe 10 nights and would love to split this 3 nights in venice and at week at Lake Garda. What I'd like to know is....does anyone have any recommendations on hotels, also can anyone advise me on getting from Venice to Lake Garda.....I think train might be best......but how/where can i book tickets!? Thanks in advance lovely people....
