Why do you say she sacrificed her role as a mother? I'm not saying you are wrong (I have no idea) I just don't know why you are saying so. womanofdulwich Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > oops ;) yes, Theresa. > I think Thatcher was a pioneer in that she showed > a woman could be PM. I think he was saying that there are 15 state secondaries (including academies) 4 of them local to ED of which Harris run 3 in total, 2 of which are in ED. No idea if that's true but I think that's what the point was. It was response to the claim that Harris has a monopoly. Most of the academy run secondaries are not affiliated with Harris as such.

Can anyone explain this to me? Palestinian-only coaches

I don't even understand what they are saying. Why would creating a bus for certain religious groups ease overcrowding? More buses would, new lines or express routes would but segregation should have no impact on efficiency. This is really shameful. -
Agree with Jeremey, Otta et al.

Would you plant a tree that can grow very large next to your house ?
LondonMix replied to KidKruger's topic in The Lounge
Anyone ever addressed this by pruning the roots of the tree that are spreading to your property and then installing a root barrier system? Obviously somewhat costly to dig up your front yard etc and in truth a cost that should be covered by the council but as a last resort to protect your property... -

I wonder what this one will be called? Soif means Thirst in French so my guess is the name will at least be French! -
Yes, I think the advice from the police was that if the crime was on-going to call 999 so that the police could try to capture the criminals.

Fancy- didn't I read they are opening a place in Battersea El Pibe Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > It's from the people who brought us Terroir and > Brawn, so jolly exciting. > > G&Bs demise was sad, I think their troubles took > their toll over the years and the final > incarnation got the focus all wrong. -
Hmm, I wonder if they even work as a deterrent. Anyone know?

dv1- why a total waste of time and money? Is it that even if it notifies you, burglars can be in and out before the police arrive in any case?

Britain tops the fuel poverty league table

Hmmm, does spending 10% of your income on heating make you poor though? I agree, no heating probably makes you relatively poor. However, surely that term doesn't taken into account how much discretionary income you have in the first place. Either way, insulation is the answer. However retro-fitting insulation into a Victoria property can at times pose its own difficulties with ventilation and damp... -
Women are very rarely admired for being tough. For her conservative supporters (male and female) this was one of her most celebrated qualities. That in and of itself is interesting.

Indeed. I can't see anyone backing away from the original point anyway which was it doesn't really affect anyone. Nail polish of course is different but I don't really see people doing that on the way to work.

I agree with GG-- can't see how it impacts on anyone. As far as offensive things people do on public transport, the only things that wind me up are: 1. Tinny music 2. People who put their feet up on seats 3. Eating smelly food 4. Leaving garbage of any kind about 5. Applying nail polish (smelly) 6. Taking drugs (have actually seem people shooting up on the train at Peckham Rye in the not so distant past)

Agree

The financial services industry has to pay (through a levy on certain activities) for bank deposit insurance. Industry often has to (through no choice of their own) fund things for public benefit related to the field. What exactly are you claiming the funding relationship is and why does it make you uncomfortable?

Hope they get they get what they are due! Outrageous. Good on you for getting the plates. -
God, you don?t read a thread for a couple of days and its turned totally insane. Comparing the application of standard makeup with smoking? Does Louisa or anyone else genuinely know of anyone that has been made sick by someone else applying make-up? Most make up I?ve seen applied on the bus doesn?t fly around (compact, mascara, lipstick, eyeliner, potted rouge). How is applying these types of cosmetics more immoral than simply wearing cosmetics around other people in general? TE44, I agree that governments are not always honest and that companies actively try to manipulate the public. However, for issues that concern public heath, governments have usually been the leading force against company vested interests (if not for moral reasons, simply because of the health care costs). Governments around the world regularly ban and recall a host of substances. Without the government and scientific community?s efforts regarding Big Tabacco, smoking would continue to be a much more significant health problem.

It is the one I remembered then. I remember they were asking 700k-800k for it or something like that. Does anyone know specifically what will become of it? Is there still a chance to use part of the property by agreeing to help the developer with change of use more generally?

Congratulations! Soak up every minute of your engagement. I loved being a bride to be (and I am not even a girly girl, never day-dreamed about my wedding etc). Assuming you don?t mind the attention, it is so great to feel the excitement and happiness of all those around you leading up to such a monumental life step. I?m also a fan of marriage like bluespurted?there is something very beautiful about making a public declaration in front of everyone you care about that you are committed to making your relationship with your partner the relationship of your life. Building a life with someone and all it entails is one my greatest joys.

I just don't see how this impacts on anyone. Unless the person is spilling bits on people or are using a smelly product this just seems fairly harmless... I've certainly got better things to get worked up about.

It was on with Foxtons in the summer and at one point went under offer I think (I could be confusing it with the other boarded up house on Crystal Palace Road). Not sure if the transaction has completed.
