  1. Melbourne Cycles, he was a lovely guy and great service. Does anyone remember a small indoor sports car showroom opposite the Bishop/Foresters and Kebab shop. Im in the late 60s 70s era. Back in those days there was another fantastic Sports car centre they sold used Etypes and Lamburgini, those days the area may not have been so trendy, but wow we had some motors. It was were the new Tesco Express is. I think it used to be a Gulf petrol station, does that ring any bells?
  2. Hi guys, not that old, but can anyone remember Melbourne cycles back in the 60/70s it was on the corner which is now William Rose the butchers. Also during that period there was a used spots car showroom opposite the the old sony shop.As a young lad I used to love drooling over the Lotus Elan and the Etypes in the showroom every school boys dream.

Daft question, course its a nice area, lovely open spaces and some nice period properties. Curiosity where are moving from? Can't recommend the area enough. But you always get your bad apples no matter where you live. Good luck and welcome to East Dulwich.
  6. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think the heads of the employees are also pretty > empty What has everyone got against Foxtons? What gets me is why they have satalite tv on 24/7? I think a shop that size would make a good Mcdonalds wouldn't you agree? Food for thought.

Regarding Anne Summers bring it on the place needs spicing up,and I don't mean another Indian take away! Agent Provocateur get real it aint Hampstead!
  8. Hi Guys, how about an Argos, it would fit into Foxtons! Mcdonalds not a bad idea, coffee and pancakes have you tried them? Think of your waistline girls. Food4thought! Back to reality dont think its going to happen. Still waiting for Lidl or possibly poundland, credit crunch!

Played football at Hackney marshes, what a dive!
  11. Ed is a great place to live work play. If most of the shops don't represent the locals as was said. Thats what I Mean when I said cloned and pretentious. Another point how can these so called gift shops survive, especially in this climite. If the good people of Dul want these quant shops they need to put there internet shopping away, and get shopping local and expect to pay higher prices. Im all for local support.
  12. I agree i'm not sure what Louisa wants. Nevertheless I agree there are some stunning period properties around, the ones in Camberwell Grove area, and lets not forget our lovely Peckham. In its day it was the place, and parts still are. I still see the area as cloned, and if we are not careful it could be a place without much character, mainly the same type of people and shops which I think is a bit boring. Be honest, how long do you think shops like Iceland will last? In the lane we all know most want an M&S or a Waitrose; its all about snobbery im afraid to say. I would be interested to know how many of you have lived in the area for more then 15years.
  13. Some Interesting posts. Some I agree with, some is utter nonsence. Yes ED is a nice safe place to live work etc. I agree its nice to be able to down a few pints, without fear. Only a few years ago EDT and Bishop were not so pleasant places to frequent. But I feel that a lot of the old crowd have been driven out which is a shame,I feel the place has lost a bit character. Because ED is mainly 30's 40's thats the main reason the pubs are mainly trouble free. I think we should all remember what we are surrounded by. But I still think some are a bit pretentious. But I think we should all be proud of our I hope close comunity.
  14. Hi Louisa, many moons ago we had M&S and quite a posh department store called Jones & Higgins.can anybody remember that? Also it had Ravel shoes plus some nice mens boutiques. My how its changed.
  15. East Dulwich, known as nappy valley, and bugaboo village. Dream on its a nice place to live but its no village. In my opinion house/flat prices well inflated. Some nice gastro pubs, shops etc. I cant help thinking that the few locals left from the past might just feel a little intimidated by the way it has changed. Its feels like its being cloned and a bit pretentious.
  16. Hope they "track"this low life down! Im on line,SteveT,Im no sleeper!
  17. Hi folks, Enjoy while you can,Credit crunch, who knows in a year or two might have pound shops and even a Lidl on the lane! Food 4 thought!
  18. What a low life,he deserves to be tied to the tracks.
  19. Cynic you might be ,but its a good point. I hope thats not the case.
  20. Does anyone know what the old Woolwich building going to be? Its been empty for some time. Watch this space....Another Foxtons maybe! Happy Xmas 2u all
  21. Im sure its owned by council,it used to be a type of job centre. Inside Infomation it could be a Mcdonalds! Food for thought!
  22. Foxtons...What p***ed me off with them, is why the hell do they have to keep that huge tv screen on day and night, what a bloody waist of money and energy, not to mention the enviroment. Some folks have been a bit nasty about Foxtons, you should'nt gloat if there in financial dificulties, which I dont believe they are there a huge chain surely they can ride the storm. Dont think we will get a M&S or a Waitrose. You never know you might get an Argos!
