  1. Shame we have live like this, don?t carry decent phone or ride a decent bike etc. Although I?m not a big fan of Mr Khan, unless we get more bobbys on the the beat 24/7 incluing stop and search I can?t see things getting any better. As I said above it?s easy picking around this area!
  2. Sorry to hear that. Trouble is with all the money seen around the Dulwich area, they seem to pick on the kids they assume who go to the private schools are an easy target. I?m glad there okay I feel for you! Most of us carry an iPhone these days worth a lot of money we all have to very vigalant!
  3. Hi,only just seen this. Feel free to contact me or checkout www.nicholasdrivingacademy.co.uk Regards Nick
  4. Well Robert I?m afraid it is about getting older I feel the same as you. ED has never really been known as a lively place, I think it?s trying to be something it?s not! Nothing wrong with louder music Fri/Sat in the right environment.
  5. Ha ha, where did you go billy biro? Late 60?early 70?s Dr fenner was the head He was a lovely guy. All boys those days.
  6. Hi all,has any one got solar Panels fitted or thinking about it. Advantages costs and are they worth it long term. Any advise and comments apreaciated. Thanks.
  7. Yes that's right from 4th Dec 17. The main changes to the test are: ? Independent driving part will increase to 20min. ? most candidates will be asked to follow directions from a sat nav ?the reversing manoeuvres will be changed ?answering a vehicle safety question while you're driving Regards Nicholas Driving Academy SE22
  8. I haven't followed every thread on this. As ED has become so popular in the last few years, cool shops, great schools and now the new M&S, I'm afraid it goes with the territory. Closing off this road, in my opinion, will be disaster and make lordship lane a school run 24/7, traffic will be crazy. Possibly a one way. Best solution is permit parking, that would help.
  9. Be careful what you wish for particularly if you live in neighbouring roads. I used to live close to a Waitrose many years ago and lot of shoppers were not so local, and it was bit like the school run at times. It will kill some of the local convenience not so trendy stores! Any large chain like this I can't see it working without designated parking.

  11. I think at first some would put their noses in the air so to speak. More often or not they would be the ones who would probably sneakily shop there. Why not the old Iceland site it would make nice mix!
  12. Firstly sorry to hear that. This can happen to the best of us. I noticed so many people these days leave their mobiles on the table in reastaurants bars etc. To be honest 9 times out of 10 most things get handed in perticulary around the Dulwich area!
  13. I'm a local driving instructor and have known and used Nick NG for many years. Like me he has been in business for many years and that's a good thing!
  14. Brings back memories I remember my mun taking me and my best mate to see 1000000 years BC with the lovely Raquel Welsh not that I'm showing my age just my wisdom! The cinema used to be opposite the Texaco petrol station and next to the indian restaurant on East Dulwich Grove.
  15. We've both had 8 sessions now, Altesse doing driving lessons and myself doing fitness lessons. The last two sessions were tough and demanding. Altesse and I both share a footballing background, the difference is he's a bit younger than me! As a personal trainer and as a motivator, I can't recommend Altesse enough. Although he's in the early stages of learning to drive, all seems to be going well and in due course he will definitely pass his test with ease. We will keep you all posted on both of our progress.
  16. Just to say, thank you Altesse, I'm so glad I took you up on that skill swap. It has been 15 years since my last game of competitive football and all I play is badminton but that's not enough to keep me in shape, never mind my chocolate addiction. I must say that getting back to the gym with Altesse has been better than I expected as I suffer with back problems, but having someone understanding and who knows my limitations is fantastic and although he pushes me hard I know that under his watchful eye I won't cause myself an injury. As a professional driving instructor who knows his stuff it's a pleasure to work with someone like him and I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone who, like myself wants to get fit and in shape. He also has a very relaxed/cool studio in East Dulwich with various equipment. His mobile number is 07886 176893.
  17. Interesting. Trever Sorbie of Covent Garden has won many awards.
  18. Eddie Just thought i'd mention this. If you are going straight ahead at a roundabout, on a driving test the examiner likes pupils to indicate left just before they approach the turn, while being careful that they don't signal too soon otherwise drivers will feel they are possibly turning left. I dont think its always necessary to signal if you are going straight ahead, but that depends on the type of roundabout and traffic conditions. Most mini roundabouts it is not necessary to signal when going straight ahead. Hope this clafies any confusion. Nicholas Driving Academy SE22
  19. Nunhead man, good point well made. All drivers and cyclists should signal their intentions, no exceptions. It's not just for other road users, its also for the benefit and safety of pedestrians. Regarding that roundabout, I wish the council would resite the zebra crossings as they are far too close to the roundabout and its not just one, its three! As a local driving instructor, I understand the possibility of rear end collisions at that spot due to those badly positioned crossings is high. Nicholas Driving Academy, SE22
  20. M&S is anything but cool. I think an M&S on the lane would be a bad thing, because on a Saturday afternoon it's gridlock down there. Although I don't shop at Iceland, my observation is that most people that use that store travel on foot and are most probably fairly local. I think an M&S would attract people from neighbouring areas, and would undoubtedly travel by car, hence increasing the traffic flow, as well as making parking difficult and increasing pollution. Not to mention some of the local food stores would suffer from the competition. If Iceland do pull out, due to the size of the building, I can't see what would replace it, because no doubt the rent would be extortionate. Flats, potentially, or maybe a few small shops? Time will tell, and undoubtedly this debate will go on. If it's not M&S it will be Waitrose.
  21. Yes i'm fully aware of this and I know there was a fatality. I commented on this thread but felt I needed to bring it up again. Surely its not rocket science at least sort the lights out that would be a start and would help to ease the congestion and frustration it causes. I really believe a filter light would improve it immenseley.
  22. This junction at the best times is incredibly dangerous. Something has to be done about the sequence of the lights because its only been letting one or two cars through at a time, if your lucky. So consequently what your getting is impatient drivers jumping the lights which is incredibly dangerous and i'm relieved and amazed there hasn't been an accident, but unless something is done there may well be. I think installing a camera would be a good idea, particularly for the drivers who still turn right when there not supposed to. A filter light would be a wise idea as the buses obscure the view when turning right from East Dulwich. Nicholas Driving Academy SE22

The Iceland store im my opinion is a bit ugly and could do with a make over. Regarding 30 something new arrivals that is not me. I'm old school been in the area for over 25 years like you. If I had the vote it would be an M&S over an Iceland any day nothing to do with being more up market! ------------------------------------------------------- > Nicolas, > I'm sorry that you feel Iceland is and eyesore, > unfortunately there are many parts of ED that > have'nt had the makeover to suit the 'New Wave' of > affluent 30-something-year-olds.
