  1. I keep getting an error when I try that link and nothing coming up with the reference number either - could somebody please give me the address / title of the planning application so I can have a look? Thanks

Interesting - as this is exact opposite of what council told me! Makes more sense this way but I was told this was absolutely not allowed!
  3. It's frustrating because I asked southwark if I could just continue putting food waste into my garden waste bin which I am paying for. I didn't want yet another plastic bin and this is what we all did prior to the paid scheme. They told me no and that it wouldn't be collected if they saw it had food waste in! So I now have 2 separate bins which get emptied into the same recyling truck. It's madness - surely they only needed to provide food bins for people who weren't paying for garden waste, those of us who do pay could continue to use the one bin. Easier for collection too as one bin to empty rather than 2 at each property!
  4. I've been fortunate enough to get Ocado deliveries through lockdown. However, they are not currently collecting plastic bags for recycling and I now have a cupboard full. Is there anywhere locally I can recyle them as we are running out of places to store them and I obviously don't want to bin them. Thanks
  5. Can anybody recommend a German tutor for GCSE for my daughter who is in year 10? Thanks
  6. Peckhampan Denmark Hill to Canada Water is also showing as a bus!
  7. Thanks. We need the jubilee line to east of london so Victoria isn?t really any good. We wanted London Bridge or Canada Water and frustrating that neither option is working on Saturday! Why can?t they spread these works out a bit?
  8. From looking at the app - buses replace trains this weekend on both the Peckham Rye to London Bridge line and on the London Overground. I've found the info on the overground closure on TFL but can't see anything about the London Bridge one on either TFL or southeastern trains (this mentions closure on victoria - bromley / lewisham lines but nothing about london bridge) Has anybody seen anything at the station about this? I cycle so don't use the station during the week. Just wondering if the app is correct or not. If so it's most annoying to be closing so many lines affecting the same station on the same day.
  9. Yes Dulwich college do this and so do Forest Hill pools and possibly also The Bridge in Sydenham
  10. Does anybody know if any local restaurants are open tonight just for a normal in and out in an hour or so dinner with the kids? Or are they all pre book special menu stay all night? Thanks
  11. Does anybody have an email address for Lewisham education department? I've been going round and round their website and can't find anything
  12. Hi - we've received a card to our address for Ruth and Ryan Harris - does anybody know them so we can pass it on? It came to our address in Friern road but with a postcode for a different part of Friern road (81 addresses before anybody suggests I use the postcode)
  13. Chichester?
  14. Peckham levels Brockwell lido Greenwich Do a local treasure trail (treasuretrails.co.uk) See if anything on at Dulwich picture Gallery I know you said not in town but there?s a zoonation show on at south bank centre which is meant to be great. Could combine with a general wander around south bank.
  15. I lost a thin rose gold bracelet - I think in Peckham park around the adventure playground or skatepark. It has my daughters name and date of birth engraved on it. I have asked in the cafe and park wardens office but it hasn't been handed in.
  16. handh - I tried your route this morning and it worked really well, thank -you. The only bit that I couldn't work out though was Chiswell street. At the top of Moor lane you can't turn right into Chiswell - left only. I ended up going left and turning around which obviously isn't ideal. Do you do a forbidden right turn here or is there something I missed?
  17. Thanks for all of the suggestions, I really appreciate it. Looks as though there are a few options so I'll try them all and see which I like the best. TTW that's a very kind offer, I'll PM you.
  18. I currently cycle to work in Farringdon every day. However, I'm starting a new job soon in Curtain road, Shoreditch. I've had a look at the cycle routes online but wondered if anybody who regularly cycles that way could recommend a good route from personal experience. I'm a reasonably competent cyclist but would rather cycle a slightly longer route for quieter roads / good cycle lanes than the most direct (as long as it didn't make a huge amount of difference.) Any advice very much appreciated.
  19. Thanks all - I cycled the usual way today and just got off and walked around the works. For some reason I had thought that the whole of Rye Lane was closed for cyclists for the duration but if they are going to do it all in small sections I may not need to detour. I did wonder about trying the Crystal Palace rd / Bellenden road anyway as an alternative but I live north of Barry road so am not keen on having to cross Barry road on my bike - it's bad enough in the car due to poor visibility and cars speeding down Barry
  20. Brilliant. Thanks so much. I?ll have a look with the map later.
  21. I cycle to work in the city and usually cycle up Rye Lane to the Surrey canal. I believe the forthcoming closure includes bikes. What do people think the most efficient alternative route is? Thanks. (Yes I can look at a map but haven?t tried any of the options so don?t know how they work in practice/ traffic flow etc). Thanks
  22. Just queued at post office for 40 mins to be told that it is now 48 hours between a missed delivery and being able to collect at PO rather than 24 hours as stated on the card so my item wasn?t there. What a wind up. I suggested they alter the cards accordingly or at least have a sign up at the PO to save people queueing unnecessarily but don?t hold out much hope that they will do either. So please bear this in mind when collecting!
  23. uncleglen the article you've posted is from 2006! 12 years ago. There have been more than a few cutbacks in all areas of the NHS since then. And specifically, after all the post Blair Daily mail type outrage at GP salaries (which in reality only some GP's outside London in dispensing pracices were getting) the Gov have made huge cuts to GP funding. A good friend is a partner in a GP practice in a deprived area of London. She has taken a pay cut along with other partners for the last 3 years in order to keep the practice running. A salaried GP at her practice earns around ?7k per year per session they do. Most GP's do around 5 - 7 sessions a week - there are 2 sessions a day but the day my friend does both sessions she arrives at work at 7am and leaves around 9pm and then does at least an hours admin from home so it is not really sustainable for anybody to do this 5 days per week. They are struggling to recruit GP's, nurses and admin staff as they just can't afford to pay a good salary. Practices are paid for the number of patients they have on their books and not per visit. So if you have a practice in an affluent area where people don't go to the GP much, you can have a lot more patients on your books and still manage. GP practices in deprived areas can't take on as many patients as their patients will be far more demanding. My friend has numerous patients who visit daily or at least 2 - 3 times a week - many with mental health issues, poor housing, drug dependence issues etc.
  24. I think it?s hard to beat camping as a family holiday. We?ve been to some amazing campsites in France and Italy, booked a 3 bed mobile home / chalet so have bathroom and obvs self catering. Have always felt safe enough for the children to wander round on their own and they have always made friends easily at the swimming pool/ table tennis/ football etc. We usually do some day trips out and some lazing around the campsite and works for everyone. Some sites have more going on for teenagers. I often use Eurocamp site to choose as they have good info and categories but then book direct with the campsite for better prices and often better accommodation. (And campsite staff are usually more helpful then the Euro amp reps anyway) Also Spain (and possibly elsewhere but have seen a lot in Spain) have a lot of aparthotels so like a hotel with facilities etc but rooms are larger and self catering.
