  1. It is the money for me too. On my days off there are 2 free activities available and one that is just ?2 so they will win I am afraid. I agree with the person earlier ?4 for a one off but when it is each week these do pile up and add on only getting a part time wage then these things do matter. I am not bothered about whether there is coffee, snacks etc... it is the price....
  2. Thank you, that would be better. I was there this morning for the hour and 15 minutes between swimming lessons and gala and it was like Piccadilly Circus in the pool, everyone trying to get their exercising in at the same time. Thanks
  3. Hi Thanks for your response. As a teacher myself I totally understand midweek galas as Jags is a school first and foremost. It is the weekend that is a bother as the weekend is the only time we can use the facilities during the day. I have noticed there is another gala on Sunday 15th Dec as well as one next Saturday. I appreciate they are advertised in advanced but that isn't really the issue, the issue is that we can't use the pool at a key time during the day at the weekends. We have to either use it in the morning which is always really busy (and Sat morning it is closed for 2 hours anyway) or the evening, which is not always possible - especially when you have kids. It does just seem to be excessive and I think something that needs to be looked at. Many Thanks
  4. Yes I would recommend to be honest - there are plenty of good classes which are free, like the tennis courts and the pool is lovely - which is why it is annoying that you can't use it when there is a gala!
  5. Is it just me or does there seem to be loads of galas now? Especially on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon - there is one today and one in 2 weeks time and I am sure there was one a couple of weeks ago. There has always been them during the week in term time but I am sure the weekends are a pretty new thing and it is quite annoying as the weekends are the only time you can use the pool during the day (and it is closed for lessons from 9-11 on a Sat morning......)
  6. Sorry if wrong section... external frame measures 110. Do I have 1 curtain or 2? Kinda had vague imaginings of a full length flouncy number for this Vicky terrace wood floor bedroom... Bought some curtains recently and they looked daft any suggestions? Ta
  7. I have a small room 6 by 6 and have taken the carpet up in order to have a floor boards instead. A couple of new boards are needed, and I want the gaps between them filling and then all sanded and dyed. Ta

    My stubborn lawn!

Ahhh, we have cats... I wonder if that is the problem?? The shade part is worse. I mowed the lawn this evening and it just looks like it is going bald..... Thanks for the advice - will keep trying before astro-turf?

    Vegetarians

I've been veggie for 25 years and eat out a fair bit - you don't have a lot of choice but I can never make a decision on anything anyway so it is perfect to have just one choice. However, when I was pregnant and couldn't eat certain cheeses etc.. it was a tad difficult so I just went out for curry.
  10. Pls help! I had a lawn lain from new turf 18 months ago. It's been patchy for about a year now. I tried once to re seed it a year ago and nothing happened, and I've tried again a month ago and still nothing :( Attempt 1 : stabbed the crp out of the lawn with cutlery forks (didn't own a proper one), mixed 1 box of lawn seed with jewsons multi purpose and springled over the lawn. Watered for a few days and then rain. Attempt 2 : Churned up the bald patches with a proper garden fork after raking. sprinkled in loads of seed (asked at garden shop round the corner and they recommended this type), then sprinkled over fine jewsons no. 2 compost, watered for couple of days then rain took over (loads of it recently) NADA !! South facing garden. small. most of it has part sun part shade, some of it (the most patchy) is always in shade. Thanks! P.S. what happened to Garden Nation in Upland Road Area?
  11. If my parents didn't go for a 3rd baby then I wouldn't be here so think it is a great plan. I am only on the first so have to get number 2 out the way first before thinking beyond that...
  12. I think my son was only 6 weeks old when I took him to the post office on Forest Hill Road. All fine and not expensive.
  13. Oakwood were amazing! I hear stories from my friends about their dealings with midwives and realise how lucky I was. HV have always been fine at FH surgery.
  14. Thinking more of childminders now - so if you know of any with vacancies - especially around the Peckham Rye/Upland Road area then let me know! Thanks loads
  15. If anyone has any recommendations for nursery or childminders then please let me know. I will be going back to work in April, just before my son's first birthday. I am not sure how many days a week but hopefully 3. I don't know whether to go down the nursery or childminding route so any advice is well received! I live close to Peckham Rye Park and work close to North Dulwich station so anywhere within that radius. Many Thanks
  16. My big sis is visiting tomorrow so will see everyone next week. Enjoy the coffee!

  19. Always love the idea of being outside. I will come along to meet everyone - if you see a tall lady with brown hair and a red pushchair looking confused, it is me. Look forward to meeting you all tomorrow.
  20. Hello all Better late than never! I have just discovered this on the forum. I had my baby boy, Elliot, on May 6th and am now up and about. Was hoping to come to your next meet to get to know everyone and the new babies. Am also quite interested in getting back to working out ASAP - although I think I have 3/4 weeks to go until I can start doing that. Hopefully meet you all soon Zoe
