  1. I live on Lordship Lane and get perfect Freeview reception. However I did have problems with interference from buses and trucks when I was using just the on board aerial at street level. I installed a loft aerial and I've not had a problem since.
  2. It might have been a good location when that house was built but on that corner you would get no privacy or peace in the garden, so my vote too would be to knock it.
  3. Nice. I think we should have a dedicated cat page. Our previous cat once went missing from Lordship Lane and was found ten days later holed up in a sometimes empty house. He'd had no food or water and was a bit thin but otherwise OK.
  4. Le Chardon is good for a Sunday lunch. Had a nice sea bass there last week and their French house red was drinkable.
  5. When you fell there is no choice but to accept your child is "average" amongst a classroom full of apparently "gifted" children Above average is the new average
  6. Many florists don't seem to be able to spell the names of what they sell Even one of this forum's contributors is calling itself 'Fuschia'...
  7. See how many hits you get if you put 'accomodation' into this forum's search box.
  8. How much does it cost to jog round the park? Jogging is a waste of time for getting fit
  9. has anyone tried the new gym on Lordship Lane yet? I keep getting mails from that esphysio gym and it looks excellent but too expensive for me. Clearly a lot of people in the parish these day with more expendable legal tender.
  10. I used to use that gym before it was given the brand name treatment. It was friendly and cheap then. Once it was taken over I was priced out of it.
  11. It had a good reputation when it opened many years ago but I don't know if that has been maintained.
  12. OK SeanM perhaps I'll give the Plough a fair go one evening when it looks lively
  13. See also my replies to SeanMacGabhann in a parallel thread
  14. I must try it again SeanM thanks haven't been there for so long. My memory of it includes going in one evening with my dad who lived in Ireland at the time and us two were the only customers and with three bar staff it still took ages to get served. That doesn't happen in Ireland where even if it's three deep at the bar you'll get served immediately.
  15. Presumably it's stopped letting the thugs in. Last time I was there I was threatened with a bottle by a drunken YOB (capitals are important here) and that was about 20 years ago.
  16. Good guess is that whatever it becomes will be tatty and down market. All the top marque businesses are moving in to the lower end of LL. Look at the Plough and its sorry state and being across the road from Barry House asylum hostel may not be advantageous. The Bombay Bicycle Club is the most up-market business we have up this end.
  17. Agreed that Peckham Rye is a lot better than Dulwich Park which has gone downhill over the last few years. It's now more of an open air gym with yummy mummies and crazy dogs.
  18. Last time I was in the Plough I was confronted by a thug who claimed I'd attacked his brother. That was many years ago and I presume it's improved since.

    Eurovision

There are so many fragmented dodgy Mickey Mouse countries now who vote for each that the original member states don't stand a chance. That's what I think. Anyway.
  20. Were you in Derry at the time? I recognise the backdrop of the photo!! Can you be certain? I'm pretty sure it was Upland Road.
  21. you are begging for a witty response involving Luton airport, but I cant be arsed I complimented her. I told her that she was more beautiful at the checkout than she'd looked in a magazine photo I'd seen the same week. She seemed pleased and talked to me. I was made up. I'd say from what she had in her trolley and the car she was driving that she has a better paid job than me!
  22. I guess Mr Nesbitt has better things to do than smile at every stranger.
  23. I pass Jo Brand taking her kids to school in mornings and saw James Nesbitt in Upland Road recently getting into his Audi. He looked at me and I looked at him. I used to see Lorraine Chase in Sainsbury's but she seems to have relocated.
