  1. Just had Fernando clear my garden! So polite, so punctual, hardworking, and my garden looks spotless! Highly recommend!
  2. So I just had lunch at Platform 1. A gooey, yummy, hearty-but-not-stodgy cheese toastie, a freshly squeezed carrot and ginger juice, some fresh mango and a jasmine green tea. But the best bit is, I had it all in their sun trap of a secret terrace garden filled with greenery. Okay, so the sun wasn't *quite* out, but it was lovely and warm, and we got occasional glimpses of sunbeams through the breaking cloud; add the reggae playing in the background and it felt *almost* like I was in a cafe on a Mediterranean plaza... The menu was a limited but comprehensive selection of things like soup, open sandwiches, a salmon and vegetable dish, and sweets like pancakes with chocolate syrup. Priced individually (I know they mostly go in for prix fixe set menus in the evenings) and the owner tells me buggies are welcome, so it's a great place to grab a bite to eat and a coffee (or wine!) and meet up with mummy friends! Make it your next stop while the temperatures are good! (and before April showers kick in.)
  3. D-C-Fix (find them on facebook and amazon). Great customer service. It's self adhesive, but I promise you I'm not DIY-orientated in any way and I've never found anything so easy to apply as their static cling! And if you do it wrong somehow, you can pull it off and start again!
  4. "Just had Swift plumbing round to fix our toilet and they were very good, efficient and would definitely recommend them." - annapan They were working for me on this date. They showed up two hours late, disappeared an hour later, came back mid afternoon, and declared they couldn't fit the plumbing because the fittings weren't right and now that the plumbing shop had closed, they wouldn't be able to get the right fittings until the morning. So, I'm glad you got good service on the date I booked them for. Because I wasn't as happy.
  5. Nice enough lads but not once did they show up at or even close to the pre-agreed time. And three weeks later I'm still chasing about snagging. The plumbing snagging eventually got dealt with after two weeks but there's still one residual problem, and I haven't seen the electrician or his boss since he left three weeks ago, despite various promises to come on this day or that day. I am genuinely considering hiring a whole new plumber and electrician to finish their work off because I'm sick of trying to get them to commit to a date and time and actually show up for it. Someone once advised me that you withhold 10% of a tradesman's payment until one month after the work is finished just in case there is snagging, and I wish I'd taken that advice. Sorry lads, but that's the truth and while I'd usually rather not leave a review than leave a bad one, I think it's only fair that if you're being recommended, future customers are aware that you might not live up to expectations.
  6. Dear Dulwich Fox, Here's their website: www.platform1.london Now you can find out everything you want to know about them without ever having to darken their doorstep. Go nuts.
  7. After being devastated by the loss of Yee Wah and after working my way through a number of substandard Chinese takeaways in a vain hope to find a replacement, it gives me great pleasure to highly recommend Oriental Star on Upland Road as my new favourite! I collected, though, I was too hungry to risk waiting for a delivery, so I've no idea what their delivery times are like. Great food though!!
  8. I'm looking for a recommendation for a handyman to put up two curtain rods and change three light fittings (one ceiling, two wall) in my flat. Someone reliable, punctual, professional and good value. A good job on these minor cases will lead to further work on a larger scale. Thanks!
  9. I'm happy to announce that I am expanding my mobile hairdressing services to include the Nano Keratin Blowdry Treatment for just ?100 a service! Nano Keratin differs from its predecessor, the Brazilian Blowdry, in that it uses bio mimetic Nano ? molecular particles that deeply penetrate each hair fibre, leaving you with hair that is: - Frizz free; smooth and shiny (does not straighten curly hair) - repaired and nourished - manageable; blowdrying time is reduced by up to 80% And these results last 3-4 months! The treatment takes around 2-3 hours, and can be done following a colour service (but you should wait two weeks after a keratin treatment before having your hair coloured). You will need to maintain your keratin treatment with a sulphate free shampoo, which you can buy online, on the high street, or through me. If you want to book, or just ask some more questions about it, please feel free to email me at [email protected] or text on 07599 726814. I am unable to answer the phone when I'm with a client, so if you call and I don't pick up, please leave a voicemail or text and I'll respond as soon as I can. I look forward to hearing from you! Lindsay
  10. Jon Morris rewired my entire kitchen refit and both me and the kitchen fitters were very happy with him. NIC/EIC certified. 07990 544967
  11. Hi, my clients are all loyal and happy and have been so for over 4 years now. I am both salon based and mobile in the south east London area. Feel free to contact me for prices on 07599726814 (text might be best - I sometimes find it difficult to answer the phone owing to how busy I am?!?!) or on [email protected]. I have other recommendations on here, they may be buried by now but worth a quick flick through "mobile hairdresser" to find them :) Lindsay
  12. hi there, I'm based in The Fringe in Herne Hill where we charge a reasonable ?32 for a wash cut and blowdry, but I also work in a salon in Forest Hill (slightly more expensive at ?40 for a wash cut and blowdry) and I do home visits at ?25 for the same. For pricing on colour or alternative services please contact me on 07599726814 or [email protected]. Lindsay
  13. Yee Wah on Barry Road was the best Chinese takeaway in south east London! And now I'm told it's gone?? Where did it go? Have they or will they reopen somewhere else? Can anyone suggest an alternative??
  14. Hi, I'd just like to highly endorse the electrician who rewired my entire kitchen and brought my electrics up to current standards, local guy Jon Morris (NIC/EIC certified). Professional, reliable, punctual, affordable, affable, trustworthy, cleanworking - and rather than looking for the fastest way to increase your bill, he looks for the best solutions at the best price, and offers professional advice on all the electrics he notices or you draw his attention to in your property. My kitchen fitters were also very impressed with his professionalism and workmanship. Well worth a call, a chat and a quote. Jon Morris 07990 544967
  15. I need to hire a skip for a weekend in September, so I'm looking for a reliable skip hire company that will deliver either before or after work on the Friday and also will arrange any necessary permits with the council. Anyone care to recommend a company?
  16. Hi could I have your phone number please?? Or email address? Thanks!
  17. Hi there, I'm a mobile hairdresser covering most of south east London. I used to have some recommendations on here but in recent months I had to request that people DIDN'T recommend me because I was too busy to take on new clients!! However with some of my clients leaving town over the course of the next few months, I'd be happy to discuss your home hairdressing needs with you. Kind regards, Lindsay 07599726814 [email protected] www.lindsayrichards.co.uk
  18. I want to do an afternoon tea on Monday but I'd rather buy expertly made scones than mess them up myself :) Was recommended to try Luca's but seemingly it's closed? Would anyone like to recommend a bakery that regularly stocks scones?

  21. I can fix it for you, my name is Lindsay and I have recommendations in other threads on this forum. However for the quickest fix, I would use Colour Before - violet shampoo will do the job but there's a fine line between "enough" and "too much". If you do use Colour Before then be sure to leave a couple of weeks before attempting another colour service. If you want to talk to someone for advice feel free to call or text me on 07599 726814 or email me at [email protected]. I have been hairdressing for 6 years, working in a salon as well as home visits, and love a bit of colour correction action :-) Good luck!
  22. Hi there, I'm an experienced European hairdresser (trained at Alan D and Vidal Sassoon) who has just started in a new salon on Rye Lane in Peckham, and I'm looking for someone who lives or works in Peckham or East Dulwich to come and be a hair model for me on Monday 26 August between 12 and 4pm. Ideally I'm looking for someone with hair between jaw length and shoulderblades (no waist length hair please!) who is happy to have a half head of highlights and a cut. It is totally free of charge. Please email me on [email protected] or text 07599 726814. I'm working long hours over this weekend so I will reply whenever I have a chance. Please do not message me via the Forum as I will be unable to view the messages.
  23. Esteem Hair on Rye Lane would like to invite all mums to come in and pamper themselves without compromising baby time! Bring your little one(s)and have a shampoo and either cut or blowdry PLUS a manicure (or, if you prefer to keep your hands free to hold baby, a pedicure) at the same time... ALL FOR ONLY ?25! Time it around naps or feeds if you like, come down and take some Me Time without losing Baby Time! Offer available Monday 12-4pm, Wednesday 10am-2pm, and Thursday 11am-3pm. Call Lindsay on 07599 726814 or Martha on 07894 643339 to book. All new mums welcome!
  24. Can somebody please recommend a builder who would be willing to quote to install an Ikea kitchen? I'm looking for a professional but reasonable work team, but in the first instance I'm looking for someone who will acknowledge/return my calls or emails (No, I don't hound) and will turn up when they say they're going to turn up, and send the quote through when they say they'll send the quote through. I've had some trouble satisfying these simple criteria and fear that if someone can't even respond to a call then what hope have i that they'll show up on time, do a good job in time, and stick to the agreed quote. Don't mean to harp but I really don't want to waste mine or anyone else's time. So if anyone wants to recommend someone really great, I'd love to hear from you!
