  1. kford - I think I went to Mr Liu's once on the basis of your lotus leaf rice recommendation. That dish is not lotus leaf rice. It's pre cooked fried rice that's then wrapped in a lotus leaf. Someone mentioned Dragon Castle. Now that place does proper, seriously good lotus leaf rice that's actually steamed so the flavour of the lotus leaf gets into all the rice and meat. Mmmm.
  2. a friend of mine's husband is basically following the trajectory of ****** in the Poh-lice force. He's just disciplined an untouchable and become very unpopular for it, but it's shaken up the department and now they fear him.
  3. urgh. That's it. One more feature length 90 minute final episode to go and it's all over. Now what do we do for an evening's DVD box set viewing. It was bad enough watching countless episodes of Friends as we waited for Season 5 DVD to be released but now what. And before you ask, yes we done the Sopranos. Whatchu gonna do ? I have to say it's quite the oddest thing, watching a character with your name (Michael Lee). It's even odder bearing in mind most of the characters don't have full names ie Bug, Dukie, Cheese, Namond etc. And of course not forgetting the fact that I have little to no resemblance to Bodymore's Michael Lee in either physique or career choice. And my final thought for the night - from Episode 1, Season 1, we've had the subtitles on. Otherwise you gotta spend all your goddam bitch-ass motherfuckin time rewinding and rewinding. How about you ?
  4. I'm really really disappointed. Melbourne Grove to me was a shining example of an innercity NHS service that worked really well. Dr B-G in particular was an outstanding GP who went out of her way to help my family on every occasion that we needed it. As far as I recall, Dr B-G, H and J formed a consortium and put a bid together to run the practice but were either outbid or outcompeted by Concordia. No doubt Concordia promised to be able to process patients more quickly and more cost effectively than anyone else but really - I know of course this was meant to be an example of internal competition delivering "value" for taxpayers but it's utterly clear here that whatever marginal cost savings have been achieved ultimately the community has been the biggest loser. As a dyed in the wool Labour supporter this is one of the most damaging consequences of an increasingly moronic target and market forces obsessed government. At the risk of sounding like an angry Daily Mail reader, whatever happened to the common sense notion of not changing something that clearly works ?
  5. hmmm. That explains a lot. Got a flat tyre parking outside Blackwater Street and was mystified to find a screw embedded so deeply in the tread that I thought a bit strange that it could somehow have lodged itself at such a perfect angle to go right through the tyre.
  6. could you really not wait until Sept 22 (that's the day the DVD of Season 5 is released in the UK). Made the mistake of ordering a dodgy pirate copy of the final season of the Sopranos because I couldn't wait. Quality was ok as far as it goes but it wasn't the same.. Man's gotta have a code. You feel me ?
  7. for what it's worth. I found the Foxtons 0% Deal rather handy for bargaining down my commission to 1%. I was never intending to go with them but they didn't know that. None of the Lordship Lane estate agents said their fees were non-negotiable (and that includes the chains) but I think at the time they were panicking about Foxtons sucking in all the new vendors coming onto the market. But to *Bob*'s point this has as much to do with the fact that I had a bog standard 3 bed terraced house off Lordship Lane which they knew they could sell quickly (except then the housing market collapsed but we got there.. in the end and I definitely got my money's worth)..
  8. quite a fair account of ED. I think also it's true that the clinching factor in ED's regeneration is the compactness of the High Street (as opposed to FH and also Brockley or what I know of it)
  9. I agree Marcus. I would definitely like to see a revival of this association. I'll happily endorse your presidency.
  10. 3 young girls carrying a weapon ? Weren't there 3 young girls who tried to attack that girl on Northcross Rd ?
  11. Huguenot And No 2 is where you're gonna stay badass! Well unless you score more than me and then you'll be er.. No 1. I am currently No 3 in Mauritius. Forget a small and insignificant hemp-wearing bugaboo infested outer London postcode. This is a whole sovereign state population 1.4 million we're talking!!!
  12. I am utterly disgusted by the new serviettes being provided in Dulwich Tandoori. They are an insulting 3 ply variety and lack any decorative edging. Why o why o why o why o why o why don't they go back to the previous iteration which had a 5 ply texture and far superior absorption. This is clearly another sign of the creeping Claphamisation of East Dulwich and I for one will be boycotting them until they revert to the original serviettes. I am going to set up a Facebook group to promote this boycott as soon as I've signed up to Facebook.
  13. oh yes. Consolidating my lead very nicely.
  14. wow. Add me and that makes 3 Fall fans in East Dulwich talking about Foxtons. If I could I would find an apposite lyric to make my point about Foxtons' outrageously un eco-friendly jumbotron blazing Sky News away on a Sunday evening. Switch the F**king thing off you C**ts-ah. (that's not a Fall lyric)
  15. "Greynolds" post is a classic - reminds me of that moment in I'm Alan Patridge when Lynn his PA pipes up from the back row where he's hosting "an Afternoon with Alan Patridge" - "Yes, Alan. I wondered if you had any more Alan Partridge tie and blazer badge combination packs available ?"
  16. Now that everyone on this forum agrees that East Dulwich has jumped the shark what with Foxtons confirming SE22 is officially McLordship Lane, what do you think is the new East Dulwich ? Obvious candidates are Bellenden, Sydenham, Nunhead and Forest Hill but I hear vibes from Brockley which make it an interesting dark horse. (yes I know I'm flaming)
  17. apparently Amersham is the new East Dulwich. It's East Dulwich that's jumped the shark.
  18. cheating ? I like to call it respectful imitation.
  19. Keef - you've got to put the time in to get some points on the board. No 1 in East Dulwich, I think I might get a T Shirt made to commemorate this temporary feat. If you want a quick fix you can always play your Wildcard - lets you change your entire team at no points cost. Did that last season - copied the No 1 team in the entire Fantasy League and it paid instant dividends until I started to tinker again and paid the price for not observing the law of averages.
  20. Captain Birdseye what on earth is going on with the low scoring points ? Clearly you haven't been to that website I told you about. The tips and guides selection on how to select your squad is mind blowing stuff (err. if you're as tragically obsessed as I am). Actually there's a ?750 first prize at my work which makes it very much worth my while.. 61 points last week. Eat my goal!
  21. captain birdseye -not quite suing clarivoyancy but there is a superb site that has become compulsory reading. Google Fantasy Football scout. Oh - now I've given away my secret weapon.
  22. And with effortless ease - Son of Tinkerman soars to the top. yeah yeah marathon not a sprint etc but at least let me enjoy my moment in the sun.
  23. Gotta love the Arteta. Hah hah think it's quite funny that Spurs believed their own hype and have flopped twice now. Made a last minute swerve on Berbatov just before Gameweek 1 based on nothing more than a hunch.
  24. haha meimeiloh - so clearly an EA. Very funny.
