  1. Apparently a chap running around with an axe..!? As you do on a Friday evening. Can't get access to any trains...
  2. Top man, very useful! I've combined small 1 & 2 so you just need to print that one file double side! Many thx, B
  3. I have to say I use that little table too, perfect for the travelcard wallet!!!!! Thx, B
  4. Well, I think we shouldn't be too narrow minded here! If it has been The Uplands for the last 50 years (and with a great reputation), I am sure Scott knows that it would be damn stupid to change it. If it has been named like this for less than 10 years (and it's one off 1000 other different names it might have had!) & with an infamous pedigree then it makes sense to wipe the slate clean & from a marketing point of view make sure that everybody knows it's a new beginning. Not keen on The Villager, but what do I know in marketing & graphic design? Not a pork scratching..! Anyway Scott you know you won't please everyone, but try to go for the majority!!!! Good luck & can't wait to see the new premises. Bartoche. PS: what about The Upland Village!!!?
  5. What about VillagED for a compromise!!!:)-D:)-D
  6. Welcome FoodStories to the forum! Totally agree with most of you, even if the Palmerston dishes out nice food it?s well overpriced for what it is! But they win awards every year, well supported by Timeout & are busy every wkend!!! Not for me (I quite like it as a pub for a pint though & my in-law loves their bitter?), but give me Franklin any day! And if you haven?t been already, in the same pub/gastro ?category? I would also highly recommend the Rosendale pub in SE21? A la prochaine B)
  7. There is also an other alternative for you matthew123: Denmark Hill to Victoria then one tube to Euston. LatersB)
  8. Merde! I like your style bigbadwolf! But what about this one: Schools of fish come to those who wait patiently; if the big ones don't come, the little ones will... :))
  9. Hey what's up forumites!? I am French, and yes I like frog legs but above all I adore bread!!! So let me share a bit of light on this. La baguette is at fixed price (between 30 & 40p?) but yes at that price we are talking about the most basic (nearly industrial) of them, and its equivalent is at the same price here in our London supermarkets. Now if you are un fin gourmet in France when it comes to bread be prepared to pay ?3 and more for a special loaf... So for a decent everyday pain de campagne you need to hit it at ?1.50. The problem is being Londoners everything is over priced so we are very wary and of course with the organic trend (bio on the other side of the channel) it makes it even worse!!!! For me there is no price for a good baguette, can't do it everyday unfortunately but now & then... Laters ;-)
  10. It's a shame for them no doubt. But being a huge fan of oysters I've never been able to justify an oyster at ?1.80 a unit! At Gordon Ramsey with a glass of champagne yes, on a market stall, rip off. Go to the South of France (?tan de Thau for example) you will get the best there and you know what for ?2 you'll get at least 6 if not 8!!!!!!!!!!!!:-S
