  1. Please do report this to the Police via their 101 number. without reporting such crimes they think everything is fine locally.
  2. The 4 hour proposal WAS REJECTED BY COUNCILLORS. Disabled parking is occupied by non disabled drivers and apparently this is a year round issue. So without some formal documentation this can;t be enforced. Shameful that people would do this and that council tax money, your and my money, needs to be spent on creating a situaiton where these spaces can be legally enforced with moral enforcement having failed. Yes, several weekends a year the park is over run with cars and agreement is needed on the exact layout to be considered safe and that vehicles contravening this will be issued parking tickets. I had asked that parks and highways team agree something with the friend group to speed things up but fellow councillors wanted to make the decision rather than just the principle.
  3. And at the last Dulwich Community council we rejected the poropsed 4 hour parking limit. We agreed that parking enforcement of disabled bays should occur. and that agreed parking places come back to the community council and once agreed would be enforced - to stop dangerous parking.
  4. The last costing of opening ELL2 platforms at Brixton was ?60m.
  5. That's really unfair unlurked. "local politicos" fought to keep East Dulwich Police station for many many years. We stopped Ken Livingstone closing it. We stopped Boris the first time he tried. We failed the second time Boris decided to close it after he stated bold as brass he never would only in May 2012. Amazingly "local politicos" are able to work on more than one problem at a time. Knocking down hospitals. We fought against the Dulwich Hospital being down sized and part s being knocked down. We tried 'saving the onions'. But now it has been seriously downsized and much knocked down we have to work with that reality. I'm amazed you're then criticising us for wanting to make sure we have enough school places and would like to have the ability to see a film at a cinema in East Dulwich. We all need to look out for each other more. AND report everything to the Police either as 999 or 101. Currently the Police are chuffed that reported crime has gone down so much and they think this re enforces their decision to close the Police station and largely withdraw from the area. The Police haven't done any research to see how much of any such reduction is due to closing the Police station where people often reported crime!
  6. have asked for 4-16 Melbourne Grove wobbly paving to be relaid again at Conways expense. Stunned that only fully renewed 3-4 years ago.
  7. Some positive new on the spate of burglaries. This week two burglars were caught red handed on a local SE22 road. It is thought they were responsible for a significant proportion of the recent East Duliwhc burglaries.
  8. Hi Zebedee Tring, I thought it was the high level Brixton station that would need to reopen and would then be served by thre East London Line Extension (phase2) which reopened last December. Hi Yuuna, The only Transport and Works Act (TAW) to have been passed by parliament for this extension had stations at Walworth Road, Westmoreland Road, Camberwell Green. Described as going to Denmark Hill which in my wishful thinking was the train station but on reflection was probably the road in the centre of Camberwell. They had no problems with tunnelling along this route. It was cancelled at a time of austerity in 1950's. It's very common for governments to cancel capital projects but with time this looks very short sighted. The exact proposed station sites isn't really that important at the pre project stage. Any scheme by TfL would use TWA which comes with compulsory purchase powers. At Camberwell I could easilly see it having several entrances/ exits dotted around the main crossroads.
  9. Hi Nigello, I will ask and find out. I suspect it will be around historic patterns of where they can issue the most tickets. But will find out.
  10. Hi olly, At the site meeting organised way back. The Police advice was sight lines AND people not stopping to properly look. COuncil officials suggested that raised entry treatments would help people stop or at least slow down to look. That STOP signs would also encourage this. The entry treatments was relatively straight with some budget juggling by the lead officer who's sadly left Southwark. She was really helpful. The STOP sign at the time needed Secretary of State approval. Tis was refused the first time by his officials. We had to escalate and some rules were changed. How crazy was that. Either way we appear to have dramatically fewer crashes. So we move onto the next junctions. Lordship Lane being 20mph and soon East Dulwich Grove being 20mph help. 1. Lordship Lane from Crystal Palace Road to Upland Road 2. Lordship Lane junction with Heber Road and Townley Road 3. East Dulwich Road with Worlingham
  11. The mere fact of it now being 20mph will reduce speeds by an average of 2-3mph. The government has written to ACPO to insist they enforce 20mph speed limits. The local Dulwich Safer Neighbourhood Team are asking residents to volunteer to help with speed enforcement - anyone interested let me know by email and I'll put them in touch with the relevant Police sgt.
  12. But the regional children's hospital covering us is the Evelina Children's Hospital. GOSH covers area north of the river thames.
  13. Hi olly, Don't believe it's a parking offence. The number of reported crashes at this site have reduced dramatically: Year Number of reported crashes 2009 5 (1 serious) 2010 5 2011 zero 2012 zero So I'm rather chuffed the changes we pushed for have made such a difference. We know crashes can go unreported but assuming the unreported rate is a ratio to those reported it would still show a dramatic reduction. And it took a change in national regs/govt to get the STOP signs isntalled!
  14. At Dulwich Community Council on Wednesday night a number of change to the coach parking bays on Townley Road were agreed. Also the removal of one of the School Keep Clear areas was agreed. Mount Adon Park - some double yellow lining was agreed on tight bends to ensure future fire engine access and rubbish collections go better. Henslowe Road - some double yellow lines at its junction with Underhill Road to improve sight lines and consequent safety. Dulwich Park - agree to allow enforcement of disbled parking beers. Cancelled the proposed 4 hours parking limit. Asked for more detail on what dangerous parking means and the proposed road markings. I voted against waiting to enforce dangerous parking. Sainsburys 357-365 Lordship Lane. We didn't agree with a loading bay as proposed by Sainsburys. Very worrying principle at stake. When the orignal service yard for this site was built over to double the number of flats from 5 to 10 servicing the shop unit sohuld have bene included by the landowner. Asking for public highway to be turned over to make good this deficiency of design by the landowner would set a terrible precedence for future developers. It would also see a nunber of parking spaces disappear.
  15. Sue email me directly. We will get this sorted out ASAP for you.
  16. Last night at the Dulwich Community Council East Dulwich councillors Joanthan Mitchel, Rosie Shimell and I allocated our devlolved highway maintenance budget tto resurfacing Goodrich Raod between Barry Road and upland Road and the eastern end of Pellatt Road. The works should take place 3-6 months time. I wish we had more funds to fix more of our local roads and pavements.
  17. Having a great environment is something we're striving for. But redoing the pavements would cause massive disruption to all those small businesses. So we have some spot repairs around the shoe shop to remove ponding that should be taking place now. Longer term we're apporaching the South Southwark Business Association.
  18. At last nights Dulwich Community Council we had three Thames Water officials talking about the previous Underhill/Lordship Lane burst pipe and Herne Hill. They explained that 12 different mains pipes are in the vacinity of Underhill/Lordship Lane junction. That the burst earlier this year was of a 4" mains. But due to the very hilly nature when they reduced the pressure to keep water available for residents but reduce the damage of the gushing water that water unhill and top floor flats went of. This latest burst is apparently a 6" mains. They exlained that the recent (last 12 months) has seen a doubling in burst main with the cold winter, hot summer, LOTS of rain. This combination means lots of earth movement and pipes bursting.
  19. At last night Dulwich Community Council the Police reported during September 22 burglaries in College ward and 20 burglaries in East Dulwich ward. We have FREE property marking kits for homes in East Dulwich ward. They dramaitcally reduce the chance of being burgled. Email me if you'd like one.
  20. Apologies Spooner how much sugar had I had when I typed that sentence! Latest news is that Southwark Council as the planning authority has said it is happy for the site to have different planning applications for different parts. It removes one of the dept of Health excuses for not freeing up a small part of this public land for a new local primary school.
  21. Hi Mrs TP, Sorry I misunderstaood. Part of the reasoning for this 20mph in particular is a Living Street report called The pedestrian pound. Making the main high street of Lordship Lane should make it better for people to walk around. We've added two extra formal crossings before, had many side roads with raised treatments, improved Goose Green with thrid arm having zebra crossings. Any way the reports key findings: ?Research shows that making places better for walking can boost footfall and trading by up to 40% ?Good urban design can raise retail rents by up to 20% ?International and UK studies have shown that pedestrians spend more than people arriving by car. Comparisons of spending by transport mode in Canada and New Zealand revealed that pedestrians spent up to six-times more than people arriving by car. In London town centres in 2011, walkers spent ?147 more per month than those travelling by car ?Retailers often overate the importance of the car ? a study Graz, Austria, subsequently repeated in Bristol found that retailers overestimated the number of customers arriving by car by almost 100% ?Landowners and retailers are willing to pay to improve the streetscape in order to attract tenants and customers. http://www.livingstreets.org.uk/sites/default/files/content/library/Reports/PedestrianPound_fullreport_web.pdf
  22. Hi Calsug, I'm against developers stating clearly ridiculous things such as closing a car park, adding 8 flats, will see no increase in the alleged non existant parking stress. That having deliveries by HGV along Chesterfield Grove from 6am will not be an issue. Ironically such arrogance is contrary to the M&S brand values I'd imagine M&S are trying to instill in us all. I've promoted a cinema for Lordship Lane. That's hardly any development.
  23. Sorry Loz. PerhaPs i sohuld have said I can't answer your question. I don't know that speeding caused none or all or some of the crashes. But I do speed will make the probality higher of crashes - less reaction time - and the severity higher - more kinetic energy involved.
