Hi Razors, I think he's in the VIP protection events! Hi LarryDavid, It is scary to hear of so many attempted attacks. The personal alarms are designed to raise alarm and stop an attack. They do help in some instances and if anyone would like a free one please email me your contact details. We do have a Police presence. It's less visible at the moment because they're locally doing a lot more undercover work. So we can't have it both ways. We want perpetrators to be caught but hard to catch them when in uniform! I can assure you local officers take the situation very gravely. -

Hi Razors, We will have near normal Police cover during the Olympics. All Police leave is cancelled. Our local sergeant will be at the Olympics but otherwise the local East Dulwich Safer Neighbourhood Team wlll be on duty. The Olympic park wills have 25,000 (7,000 from our armed forces) people on security. Many Police from around the UK will also be helping in London. Last week it was also announced that as a precaution against similar problems to last August lots of Riot POlice will be based in Southwark during te games. -

Southwark Council Community Fund has just been luanched. ?100-?1000 grant toward making community events happen. If interested please apply online. Deadline is 5pm 25 May. So probably not much use for events proposed for June or July and you can't bid retrospectively. -

Hi Worker, Transport Police tend to catch not just people dodging tickets. Its the others I'd be interest in them catching. Hi the-e-dealer, I'm sure they're trying but if it was that easy they'd probably have been arrested. -

Hi EDjules, I've PM'd you. Adding to that PM. Our local East Dulwich Police Safer Neighbourhood Team have personal anti attack alarms and many other crime prevention goods. If you or any other East Dulwich ward resident would like one please send me your details - name, address, contact numbers so we can arrange for one to be dropped round to you [email protected]. I'm also trying to arrange a session for our local Police to be present during the evening rush hour to offer personal security advice, etc. I've also asked if Transport Police team can put on some of their blitzs at ED station. -

Hi Razors, I have asked several times for Planning Enforcement to look at this business and I understand this buisness has been more 'accurate' with the hours of operation but not perfect. Also, spray leaving the site and structures that may or may not have planning permission. I've just asked for the latest update from Planning Enforcement officers. -
Hi Razors, Sorry for my lack of clarity. ?8,000 is for ALL crime prevention measures in the area - the anti number theft screws at ?1.80 for 30 and local Police already have them. So the vast bulk will be for non motor vehicle crime prevention.

Hi Goose, Please see attached letter being distributed today in the immediate area around Goose Green roundabout. I think its a bit OTT but that's what is planned. -
Only two people have so far asked for these anti number plate theft screws. Hi Sue, Fully range of colours is my understanding. What colour would match yours? Hi tomdhu, Our number plates only have 2 screws but 2 or 4 we have plenty available.

Hi Fuschia, I've just reported te problem. Amazed that's not been picked up by regular inspection regime especially something that affects the safety of our younger citizens. If you see any such defects in a Southwark park I'd encourage you or anyone else to report it yourself immediately either via [email protected] or 020 7525 2000. Personally I prefer email as I then have something I can track. Then obviously feel free to escalate to Councillors if the service isn't as it should be or you think a pattern is occurring. -

The changes in Dulwich Leisure Centre classes have resulted in the larger 63 classes pw that could take 1,701participants to now 80 smaller classes taking 2,000 participants per week. So a 18% increase in participants. Good start and I'll be pushing for even more classes until nearly everyone has a class who wants one. What classes do you want more of? -
I can confirm the local East Dulwich ward Police Safer Neighbourhood Team have a number of such secure anti theft anti theft number please screws. If you're interested in receiving two please email me at [email protected] with your name, postal address and contact details.

I will ask Police to agree to distribute these for free having provided another ?8,000 for Crime Prevention in East Dulwich. Such a simple idea. In a weeks->10 days time email if you'd like 4 and state the colour required.

With other such incidents appears a spate of burglaries just north of the railway tracks. Sadly, despite the warmer weather we all need to keep vigilent with windows and doors locked when we're not in or awake.

Hi sienna.W, I'm sorry to hear this has happened to you. If you tell me exactly when I'll try and find out how/who it happened. I've always found my children have been treated well when we've visited. -

Southwark is formulating its anti flooding plans. I've told the council's Flood Risk Manager John Kissi ([email protected] 020 7525 2062) about past flooding on Upland, Barry, Crystal Palace and Landcroft roads - expecially of basement flats - but please do tell John about any flooding experiences you've had so that Southwark's plans are aimed at reducing all flooding risks locally in East Dulwich. -

Hi rosiege, I've just been told that number of classes is to rise from 1 April from 63 classes per week to 80 pw. BUT concerns about classes being overcrowded so the numbers in classes will slightly reduce to ensure they have great classes. So overall an increase in places. Later next week all the classes will appear on the internet - please take a look and give me your feedback. I've asked that Fusion/Southwark consider a furter increase in classes beyond this increase in class numbers and I've also asked for confirmation of the total number of places. rosiege Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dear James (or anyone!) > > I hope this is the right place for this enquiry. > Re. Latest update on new Lordship Lane crossings: Site 1 (Lordship Lane / East Dulwich Grove) is now fully complete and was commissioned for use at 9:30am yesterday. I am pleased to inform you that the facility is working well and is already heavily used by pedestrians. The operation of the signals is also assisting with local traffic management by assisting vehicles turning in and out of East Dulwich Grove whilst the lights are red to general traffic on Lordship Lane. Site 2 (Outside the Supermarket) has been constructed (including all civils works, footway buildout, carriageway table, antiskid surfacing and paving). Unfortunately we are still waiting for BT to disconnect the existing telephone box outside the supermarket, which is in line with the western crossing location. We have requested a detailed response from BT as to why there has been a delay in disconnecting the power supply to the box when their planning application and agreement to proceed with the scheme was granted in September last year. We anticipate that we will have a confirmed date by the end of the week and TfL are on standby to install the signal equipment once this date has been confirmed. Edited to add that BT phone box will be removed 30 March i.e next Friday. Once the telephone box has been disconnected and removed, then it will take approximately 5 days to install and commission the new signals. I will keep you updated accordingly. The new parking bays are currently being installed, with line marking and sign post implementation to be completed by the 30th March. -

Hi FatherJack, Today I finally found out how many secondary school applications did not receive any school allocation. Not just your friends family but 20 families in total didn't receive a school allocation. Shocking. So a HUGE thank you for bringing this to my attention. After various assurance I was mad and this was impossible council officials think they know what went wrong and then found 19 other families apart from your friends. All were offered places on Friday. So the revised figures should look like: * All Southwark secondary school applicants have been offered a place for September 2012 * Total of 2,456 applications were received, 65 less applicants than last year * 1,362 (55.4%) received a first preference school a 2.9% increase on last year's figures 1,322 (52.5%) * 2,213 (90.1%) received one of their preferences - 1.3% increase on last year * 195 (7.9%) families without a preference and offered an alternative school fewer than last year - 243 (9.6%) * 20 (0.8% ) families offered no places or an alternative school. * The number of online applications has remained at the same level as last year -

Hi roseiege, The renovated centre is much more popular now and your experiencing the down side of that. But I'd imagine extending the hours when classes run would really help. I'll ask how we can make this happen. edited to correct appalling spelling from typing with iPad on a train. -
If you are being attacked and use your car to defend yourself then it's clearly self defence. Let's hope Lewisham Police catch these guys.

Southwark Cuncil has just over 100 CCTV cameras. Obviously they're largely where crime is significantly higher than East Dulwich. Very occassionally covert CCTV will used underRIPA powers but again this would be for serious incidences of crime. The fixed CCTV Southwark has is going to mortised asits ancient and mostly can't be used evidentially. If anyone wants more tails please email me.
