Hi Borderlands, Submitting a short 5min video sounds like a brilliant idea. Can you - will you - make this happen?

Hi Keane, Lottery means only a small proportion of kids living on the adjacent very large council estate will get places there. So a lottery can exclude many from poorer families as appears the case for this school - however unintentional. Public transport is also relatively poor there so proximity seems extra important. Lottery extends the catchment area dramatically and the persevered need to drive kids there and back. Hi tomskip, Not sure why this is being done over Christmas and New Year.

Hi ITATM, I concur. If a front gain is paved ver the minimum we can expect of our neighbours is it;s permeable, with a dropped kerb with full permissions. -

Hi ITATM, I know of several where they are in the process of taking action. A related case would be the car that was always parked on the pavement outside no. 11 Lordship Lane. It took years before one of my Lib Dem colleagues came up with a route to get the council to remove it permanently. Former Councillor Geoffrey Thornton. -
Camberwell Bakerloo extension looking unilkely
James Barber replied to Earl Aelfheah's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi bil, I suspect Boris favoured west London and indeed SW London a la Cross Rail 2 as core constituency. Livingstone you'd have thought would have favoured SE London being so Labour but didn't make Cross River Tram happen or Bakerloo Line extension. We need to come up with idea to make Camberwell and Peckham as attractive as the OKR in terms of developer contributions. -

On this point. Trams have been shown in the UK to attract around 25% of car users out of their cars and onto trams. So you could expect 25% less car use. Even higher proportion of bus users. So they create more road space than they occupy. They also cost significantly less than buses to run and we know bus/TfL budgets are going to be hugely squeezed. So you can keep or increase capacity for less annual costs. They also wear roads out less so highway renewals are needed less often saving lots of capital expenditure. picmicnic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I don't understand while a tram would bring any > benefit. > Surely if you bring in a tram you have to > repurpose an existing road or railway to > accommodate it which means no net benefit. -
I have had success with inspectors upholding decisions. So Well worth submitting your views and evidence to the inspector. But the decline is a hard stop so please please please submit your views by the 17 January which means posting them before then. The 17th is a Sunday so it really needs to arrive on the 15 January which means posting no later than 13 January. Don't be caught out. In any objection you should highlight you think a site visit is needed. That you'd like to attend. Over development, etc.

I would think these changes are good for residents - especially if tweaked to create a net gain in parking spaces. Good for cyclists and those who may cycle when they feel safer. And defiantly better for people walking there. One-way system result in speeding as a general rule. So for those drivers who want to stick to the legal speed limits I'd hope they like me would appreciate less pressure from others to speed that these changes should result in.

Hi ITATM, Yes, people believe that. I've even had one home owner while I was canvassing tell me about the perils of pavement cyclists while they clearly drove across the pavement and didn't have a dropped kerbs. -

Hi Grok, I have two cases of people driving across the pavement who planning enforcement didn't resolve within 4 years! Unbelievable but true. But council officials in those two cases assure me they're taking a different angle about driving across pavements without authority. In some other cases the road is a red route which gets really complicated - Southwark Council the planning authority but TfL the highway authority. Fortunately EDG case is relatively new and all under southwark Councils control. -
Kingsdale is consulting on its admission policies for September 2017. Please see attached and this link for even more info. http://www.kingsdalefoundationschool.org.uk/styled-6/page186/ Summary is three bands with lottery within each band NOT distance based from the school. Please do take a look and submit your response to this admission policy for Attn: Mrs.Cowling [email protected] Please do cc me and I'll collate the general feedback to this thread. I hope others agree with me that distance based admissions - within or without banding - is better for our community and the environment than random lottery admissions.

DHFC noise disturbance, evening match
James Barber replied to beagle1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Many thanks for the kind offer for a free match ticket. But I never ever accept gifts from non friends or family. All the research shows even the smallest of gifts influences people even if sub consciously. I've attended home matches and had lots of fun. Admittedly on Saturdays. I also think the club is an asset to the area. The OP thought it was from a drum. Either way their kids couldn't get to sleep on a school night. Any parent would have angst about that especially as it isn't the first time. For heavens sake I'd like the club to be an even bigger success. With its future assured. But neighbours who have concerns should be listened to without online bullying. Listening to neighbours is in the interest of the club. Inbetweener, Perhaps worth offering neighbours those boardroom tickets and discussing their genuine concerns. Other neighbours of the club have emailed me to say they're sick of the PA at 9.40pm as they also have kids with much earlier bedtimes. -

Hi Grok, I've reported this issue to council planning enforcement. Challenging this on planning grounds is time limited - but we're well within the 4 years. I'll chase again and thanks for the reminder. -
DHFC noise disturbance, evening match
James Barber replied to beagle1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'm agog if genuine fans of DHFC imperil the future of their club by being obnoxious to neighbours of the club on this forum and this thread. The clubs future depends on goodwill from neighbours. I know the Southwark noise team (020 7525 57770 receive a number of complaints about evening matches and the noise generated. -
Hi riddles, Officers have already started reviewing all the junctions in the area with proposition to put double yellow lines meeting the highway code. This, in my opinion, would be complete over kill. In Village ward the councillors agreed to this and they;re being installed in the North Dulwich triangle in January. Melbourne Grove (south) is shared with Village ward. We will try and persuade them that 10m double yellow lines in each direction from a junction is OTT. However, we don;t have sufficient funds for lots of bailouts. Cameras are deployed by the London Camera Partnership which is one person and their dog - so no cameras, I don't see any trees being cut down due to whatever recommendations is made. Have that glass of wine!

DHFC noise disturbance, evening match
James Barber replied to beagle1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi Alan Medic/P68, I did read the whole thread. I doubt we'll hear from the OP due to the aggression expressed. This often happens on the forum - so people on the doorstep tell me. They stated they have children that couldn't get to sleep on a school night and they believed the noise came from the DHFC grounds. In my mind two possible outcomes. Either the OP feel miffed at the abuse and go down the noise team route in future which is risky if you're a genuine fan of our local club. Or they feel listened to with respect and more inclined to suffer such occasional noises - whether drums, stamping feet or whatever - in silence with their family. Reviewing the posts which option do you think the OP most likely to follow in the future? If the club continues in its success more noise is likely, more inconvenience is likely. And I hope it does continue to be increasingly successful. Then fans and the club need to be engaged, respectfully with neighbours, to ensure continued tolerence. Whether you agree with the national legislation or not people have far more rights now to the quiet enjoyment with their family of their homes. -
Attached the Brief for considering change to Melbourne Grove (south). I'd imagine that IF the study proposes recommendations for physical changes the Dulwich Community Council would need to agree with those changes, have sufficient funds for those changes, then proceed to public consultation sometime in the summer/autumn. any comments or thoughts please let me know.

Worth also confirming that latest plans of building works -http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/documents/s51706/Report%20GW2%20Belham%20Free%20School.pdf Building structure worse than expected from previous surveys. So proposal is now to open 3 ground floor classrooms ready for September 2016 and keep two temp classrooms.

DHFC noise disturbance, evening match
James Barber replied to beagle1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The original post is about loud drumming keeping his kids awake past 9pm. It was posted the day after a school night home game for DHFC. I would hope that fans and the club would respond positively - perhaps some parts of the ground accentuate drumming noises leaving the ground and other parts don't. Being smarter about where drumming takes place might make all the difference. Legislation about public nuisance is such that taking a more positive line on this will reduce the chance of that legislation being followed by neighbours. I would hope self preservation would result in s less bullish attitude. The club has undertaken some great community engagement. Perhaps some of this needs to be directed at neighbours. This also stresses to me the lunacy of thinking adding 200 expensive flats even closer to a new adjacent ground would ensure the long-term survival of the club. It will result in a closer parallel to the Imperial Gardens fiasco - new flats built next to night club and night club closed due to noise of comings and goings. -

Hi Abe_froeman, So far TfL London Overground have increased quality of stations, trains and frequency of services on routes they've taken over or created. These factors have led to huge increases compared to past actual passenger number and forecast growth. So any train service could be reduced but in my opinion this would be less likely if it's a growing service taken on by TfL London Overground. One but is the planned drastic reduction in TfL funding by Tory chancellor George Osborne. -

Hi Bil, Yes, TfL are seeking to take over various suburban train routes in south London and upgrade them to the London Overground style of operation. But they'd still have the issues of London Bridge station being at best chaotic until 2018. -

Peckham Rye Adventure Playground to Close??
James Barber replied to stephen509's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi mikeb, I think that's the point. It isn't clear it will be kept in such a way people find useful for their kids. A petition could be clear about what it's looking to remain - 6 days a week. Mon-Fri 3.30-5.30, Sat/Sun 10am-4pm for example. OR you could produce an online survey exlainign what's there now and asking Q's around it.
