  1. Hi chazzle, I'm afraid the new 2-3 Railway Rise planning application still not validated by council officers.
  2. Southwark Council has now provided the document online at: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/download/downloads/id/13539/melbourne_grove_south_safety_review_and_feasibility_study_report
  3. The report highlighted several issues that we need to fix. The cutting down of three trees is mentioned but to me appeared framed as n unlikely solution and one of several ways to ensure better pavement access. I think chopping them down would be disproportionate. I don't see this option happening. But much of the other recommendations looked fine. Under ground pumps. Speed humps are placed ever 50-80m (163-260 feet) Seems unlikely they couldn't be placed to avoid the three underground pumps mentioned if that option is chosen. Irony is that if these speed humps had been installed when me and fellow East Dulwich ward councillors suggested them about 6 years ago this whole train of activities would likely have been avoided - but the then Village ward councillors - and this part of Melbourne Grove is the boundary between two wards - refused even if we solely used East Dulwich ward CGS funding.
  4. Hi first mate, The report isn't on a website yet hence why I've not provided a link. It's also 5.3M. Key conclusions are issues about sight lines and some crashes and very limited speeding. That two broad options suggested. Option A sightlines - some double yellow lining of junctions with Melbourne Grove. Perhaps chop some mature trees down. kerb build outs. Option B changing current speed cushions for full sinusoidal speed humps. My initial thoughts are much of Option A should be implemented - but chopping down big mature trees OTT - and Option B. Total costs around ?32,000. This appears to have an excellent payback if it reduces the odd minor crashes apart from any innate calming of the area. If someone can place the document on a website I'll happily email it to them.
  5. The report was issued on Friday. It's 5.3M so can;t be attached here. IF any one would like me to email them a copy let me know.
  6. Bringing forward the proposed Ultra Low Emission Zone from 2020 as planned to 2019 will help. Even better increasing its size to be bounded by the North and South Circular. Our new London Mayor has made the right moves early in his term of office about air pollution. The primary school pollution news really hammers home how bad London air quality is. It will mean many diesel cars/vehicles will need to be replaced or face a ?12 per day pollution charge. It will mean our local schools will all have much cleaner air. And yes we do have a problem with Goose Green school having quite so many parents driving kids to and from school - especially considering the catchment area is so short.
  7. No, sorry I don't. The brief was very clear. Perhaps they're working from Jarvis Road to the junction of Melbourne Grove with Grove Vale. I'll try and find out some more. I sometimes feel Southwark Highways bods randomly make things up.
  8. This is what I've said to officers today preparing for next Dulwich Community Council meeting 22 june: @ Hi Michael, 7.5 or 10.0m seems over the top for the junctions shown as red. For example side roads with Handcraft Road. The average speeds along these roads is under 20mph. The crash rate is negligible and the proposed double yellow lines statistically will make no difference. I can see a benefit in crossing the road. On this basis how can we limit the lining to 2.0m? "
  9. M&S have told me that they now anticipate opening Wednesday 24 August but they'll update me nearer the time as these dates often change.
  10. Hi Ruffers, The previous partial advanced stop line had green tarmac for a feeder lane to the ASL, it had green tarmac in front of the vehicle stop line. But it didn't have a logo or its own stop line. It was more ASL than not ASL. Removing an ASL would have required a Traffic Management Order. Either way a facility, even if partial, has been removed and either needs to be fully restored or explained why it has been removed and under what TMO.
  11. The current administration has budgeted to introduce emissions based parking permits. They propose to announce the details this summer but anticipate making a scheme that will raise ?350,000 over the next two years. With thousands diving prematurely from air pollution we need to do something to remove the worst polluting vehicles. But deciding how much to raise and then creating a scheme doesn't appear the best way to do this. So if we were ever asked again locally about controlled parking it would have quite a different context.
  12. The photo s of the nor bound lane on Lordship Lane on the south side of the junction. The Streetview link is of the eastbound lane of Dulwich Common. But I fished around and found this - https://goo.gl/maps/7tXGrGmz4kL2 phew. I've alerted TfL and now hope they'll understand 1+1 = 2 !!! Fingers crossed.
  13. Hi MarkT, In the circumstances I'd be amazed if a like for like design but properly built would have any problems getting planning permission. The only change I can think of is taller buildings which I hope this terrible sorry state won't be used to justify.
  14. Hi suffers or heartburn, Could one of you take picture of what is there now please? I could but it would be the weekend before I get around to it.
  15. Hi Azalea, No, I've not heard of that scenario. IF you fear this then ask for a second opinion. You only have the one life.
  16. Hi herburs, This is the TfL response I've had. Can you take a photo of ASL missing and email it to me at [email protected] please? Hello Councillor James Roadworks problem 2214861 This is an automated email to update you on the current status of the above case: Investigation completed Dear Councillor James Barber Case No 2214861 South Circular with the junction of Lordship Lane. Thank you for your recent Report-It and comments regarding the cycle advanced stop line not being reinstated at the above location after recent resurfacing works. From our investigations, the Scheme Engineer has since confirm that we have put back exactly what was there before, you can check and view the location via Google?s Street View. We can confirm that there a cycle advanced stop line in place at Dulwich Common. Yours sincerely, Transport for London ' Report a Roadwork?s Team.
  17. Hi Chazzle, The 2-3 Railway Rise planning application hasn't yet been validated. When it is new letters will be sent and the consultation clock restarted.

  19. Hi Chazzle, I've contacted the head of service for planning asking what is going on and when we'll have all the documentation for people to comment against.
  20. I have contacted the head of service asking what is going on and how this situation is bringing the council in disrepute. I'm hopefully an oversight and wont be long to make available drawings etc for people to comment against.
  21. Hi Broco123, For those moving you can get an exception to parking constraints whether Southwark or TfL road. I've done both in the past. Moving from a TfL controlled road with double red lines to a single yellow line on Southwark controlled road. It didn't take much organising. I was surprised but this was some time ago. Glad to here St.Francis oasis of calm parking. Others on other roads aren't feeling that BUT their are no plans to re consult on a Controlled Parking Zone. IF someone find it easy or hard to park and it bothers them then best to log it with council officers via [email protected] What may add extra parking pressures are the council estate parking changes on the East Dulwich Estate and Champion Hill estate locally - see http://www.southwark.gov.uk/download/downloads/id/13136/changes_to_housing_estate_parking_-_public_notice_dated_11_february_2016 Estate controlled parking on Champion Hill estate, etc.
  22. 23. Hi Pork Chop, It is ridiculous that election day in the UK is the first Thursday and not the first Saturday or Sunday. It would totally avoid this type of issue and think how many thousands of schools are requisitioned for a day. Poking around the internet most western countries hold polls at weekends. But sufficient reasons to ensure a bill to change this could be talked out without three line whip exist - asking Jewish people to vote on Saturdays or Christians to vote on Sunday is deemed problematic despite the ability to postal vote. And i totally agree we must all try harder to find suitable venues until election days are moved. For Heber School organising step free access to the main Baptist church hall would seem a good solution. I have previously organised a stair lift to the basement but I really don't think it solves the issue. Saying this. The ward boundary review are very likely to result in big changes to polling districts - this will be announced in September for the council to then organise new polling districts. So we'll have a better idea of whether Heber School still needs to be a polling station early 2017.
  24. Hi KittyKat77, I'll respond to your email this evening.
