  1. rahrahrah, we do need people canvassing about the electoral roll to ensure as many people as possible are on it. But the idea personal information would or should handed over is na?ve at best.
  2. So the latest I've found out. The charging of ?7.50 per ten brown garden waste bags was expected o raise ?20,000 each year. The delay in charging is that the IT systems and processes aren't in place yet to make this happen and wont be this financial year. So keep stocking up and Grove Vale library always seems to have some when I visit. They offer 5 but will concede another 5 if you ask. Regards James. 73jem Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > James, I have noticed that the brown paper sacks > for extra garden refuse usually available in > libraries are in short supply. > > As we are coming into the season for garden > clearance, please would you confirm that there is > no plan to phase these bags out. > > I would be happy to pay for them, but do hope that > they will be available in the future, it is > difficult to dispose of all the year's growth in > the garden otherwise if you do not have transport.
  3. Hi nununoolio, I'd still recommend not handing over useful personal information to anyone on the doorstep. Obtaining a hi vis jacket with Southwark on it isn't that hard and doesn't prove anything. And the genuine canvassers are doing a difficult job as it's hard to find people in. Hi buggug, Go online and register. Doesn't take long.
  4. I thought it was pretty clear where non buses could use the bus lane to turn left.
  5. The latest electoral registration system needs your National Insurance reference to check that who you say you are matches the Department for Works and Pensions and Inland Revenue systems. As each person has one unique NI reference the hope is that by using the unique NI reference it will avoid people being register in more than one place. And everyone in receipt of benefits will have given an NI reference and home address, or paying Income Tax will have given an NI reference. Canvassing I've often found landlords registered at an address where they don't live for example. Or confusion over Flat A and B with both addresses having the same person registered. So the NI ref. is a useful way of avoiding duplicates or worse and an attempt to reduce electoral fraud. BUT I would never give my NI reference to someone at the doorstep. I'd ask for a free post form addressed to Southwark Council to return such information via.
  6. Hi rch, As I've repeatedly stated to you both verbally and by email, we've requested of council officials and they've agreed that the houses with cellars, of which your home is one, don't have full humps outside them. Really not sure how many times I have to repeat this response to your understandable concern. As with Ashbourne and Chesterfield the majority of your neighbours would like full humps and so that's what we're doing - except on your bit. Hi first mate, They now do if they run and operate their classes from a Southwark Park.
  7. TfL have consulted on changing the parking the street there - https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/roads/lordship-lane-parking/consult_view The consultation has closed. If any one has strong views it may not be too late if you email them to me ASAP.
  8. Infractions are: Not following the shop serving plan. Not keeping to the permitted opening hours. Not keeping to the agree drawings of the frontage - those massive numerals, the plastic backing to the windows effectively creating a visual wall. Noise form plant contrary to planning conditions. Building the top storey too high. All bar the last condition are the responsibility of M&S. 'Not just any kind of planning breach... but an M&S planning breach'. Cllr Charlie Smith commented earlier. The 8 x flats were proposed first. Then they thought to add 2 x penthouse flats which would have take it to 10 flats and potentially 35% social housing so they re applied for the 8 flats to be work units each with a bathroom and show room and kitchen. Once the 2 penthouses built they'll claim no business wanted to rent the work spaces and will used permitted development after two years of non occupation to convert them into flats. The chronology is critical to get away with this abuse of process.
  9. hi Clive, I've mentioned it to the council parks team and the Police Safer Neighbourhood Team. I;ve asked them to tell me what they're going to do about it. Clearly unacceptable anti social behaviour. clive3300 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > James - can you help with trying to stop the > anti-social behaviour continually occurring in the > Goose Green children's play area each Saturday > night as most Sundays, the park is trashed? 10. Hi Abe_, A number of other quieter streets with less traffic and less speeding we're previously introduced speed humps and they've done most of the job of solving that speeding problem - Chesterfield Grove, Ashbourne Grove to name just two local streets. I don't recall people being against solving the problem on those quieter streets with similar numbers of residents. And the traffic/highways team is totally different different to the planning teams. My lot when we ran the council made planning enforcement. I've taken up 4 issues so far this month and these are being worked on by officers. 11. Hi edhistory, I would suggest supplying the service exclusively in the park is covered by this provision. Not starting the service somewhere else, walking through the park, and leaving and still undertaking the service. The council would need to specifically state a service that visited the park. Equally the transaction takes place elsewhere. Otherwise the council would not have had to introduce a specific charge for people running fitness training in council parks. edhistory Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Currently I do not believe any restrictions of > professional dog walkers are in place. > > Just need prior Council registration and consent. > > See current bye law attached.
  12. I've had to make 5 referrals to Southwark Council Planning Enforcement team so far. I've had my first confirmation a legal letter has been sent regarding the first. Terribly sad use of tax payers money subsidising such a private company intent on breaking planning law. I've been truly surprised such a reputable company can be run so badly locally.
  13. Two aspects to this application. The actual heigh massing etc - the content of what will be built. And the other aspect will be how it is built. We've had nearly two years of pavement closures along Upland Road so we need to ensure this application has a condition for a construction management plan. Should be virtually no need to close the pavement.
  14. Head of Parks at Southwark Council has told me currently in middle of procurement exercise for all park cafes. It isn't the intention that one provider for all Southwark parks wins the concession to run all cafes - in fact she has been quite specific that this will not happen. The procurement exercise should complete in October.
  15. Hi Rosetta, Currently I do not believe any restrictions of professional dog walkers are in place. All our bye-laws around dogs date from 1996. Subsequent bye-laws 2007/8 didn't relate to dog issues. BUT a Dog Survey was undertaken and I've yet to the results. I do believe Southwark Council is proposing a professional dog licence fee. Let me get the results f the dog survey and do some more digging. Rosetta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > James, > > Can you confirm whether or not dog walkers need a > license to walk dogs 'professionally' as in for > money in Southwark parks etc. Also, how many are > they allowed to walk?
  16. hi rich, I'm bemused. Traffic speed analysed to see what 85% of vehicles doing. Just because 85% may be closed to the speed limit doesn't mean the other 15% speeding should be ignored. Can you imagine such an attitude to GBH or worse. Speeding vehicles much higher chance of causing death or serious injury. The 85% of vehicles going 15-20 stand only a tiny chance of killing. Those doing 25-35mph stand only a small chance of not being killed or maimed as well as less time to dodge and not be hit.
  17. Hi Chet, Renata, I've already asked about this bars problem. AS you know we're Southwark councillors elected to represent by voters in specific wards. Lots of ED residents use facilities outside ED so I don't think any harm me asking.
  18. Hi Nigello, I popped in on Saturday and asked for brown bags. Given 5 and asked for more and given another 5. This was Grove Vale library. Hi 73jem, Southwark announced plans some months ago to charge for them. I wonder if they're running them down in preparation for that. Get them free while you can. I'll also ask again for more to be supplied to both our local libraries. EDIT: Add link to Southwark Council plans to charge for brown bags when bottom of page 3 -http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/documents/s59730/Appendix%204%20Waste%20Services%20fees%20and%20charges.pdf at rate of ?7.50 for 10 down bags. This was meant to start 1 April this year - but I've yet to be charged for this. Looks like a daft decision the council hasn't been stupid to implement....yet.
  19. Hi rch, I think no one is sharing a common definition of "speed issue". You suggest that Melbourne Grove (south) doesn't have a speed issue when clearly around 15% of vehicles using it are speeding. To you that's not an issue. To other residents there it is. But Id like to take part so please keep me posted when it operating please. Hi Nigello, Let me try getting that fixed. Hi Sally Eva, Useful scheme that has had an impact elsewhere in the country. Might have less impact here because over half the traffic we have stats and finishes outside the area. So lees likely to feel peer pressure from this which is had been found a key aspect. Still worth doing though.
  20. Hi first mate, I don't know about the appeal and who from Southwark Council did or didn't attend. If you remind which particular planning application reference you're asking about I'll try and find out.
  21. And B road such as Barry Road txt also come with lots of double yellow lines. The decision to agree.disagree the Traffic Management Order has been taken away from local councillors to the council leader - he clearly knows the whole of Southwark so much better than ward councillors!
  22. I'll find out. I anticipated having this info 7 September.

Apologies for not giving feedback sooner - just back from holidays. After reporting it to planning enforcement and the school bursar I have been assured they investigated on the 5 August and ensured the 6-8 August works started at an acceptable time. IF you have any further issues around works outside the accepted 8am-6pm Mon-Fri and Sat 8am-1pm please email me directly so I can help you.
  24. When the council move a car to make way for such street works it's free at no expense to the car owner.
