  1. Latest Heathrow Action Campaign Against Noise out today...see attached. Do join.
  2. Hi chazzle, Of course I'm not saying that. Bemused why you think I have. The Garden Centre always came with Railway Rise ownership.
  3. Front garden vegetation should maximum be chest height but ideally waist height so no dead zones for people to be concealed by while carrying out such burglaries. This lesson was learnt the hard way - receiving crime prevention advice after an attack on our home.
  4. Stansted is running at 50% capacity. Expanding Heathrow or Gatwick makes it just about impossible for the U.K.to meet its CO2 reduction obligations. All so the few can travel more often. Clearly shows the government lacks any sense of strategic leadership or care for the future of our country.
  5. How awful. To set up a Neighbourhood Watch email Marcus Suitor, Secretary, Southwark Neighbourhood Watch Association at [email protected] or phone 0843 289 6529.
  6. Hi TheArtDogger, I'll find out - after visiting the cycle reason doesnt seem that plausible.
  7. The Owens of the garden centre. I understood also own Railway Rise which is a private road.
  8. Hi Chet, This is the response I've received today - sorry it's taken so long; " Southwark Council - Member enquiry Our reference - 704349 Subject - Peckham Rye Fitness Squad ________________________________________ Dear Councillor Barber Thank you for your enquiry dated 8th October 2016, in which you requested information regarding the following: 1) The current dip bars have been installed poorly by the council and are way too wide for the true dip exercise to be completed. The distance between the bars does not match up to the industry standard - the workmen have installed this poorly.(See attached picture) The group themselves have already said they would be happy to pay for the rework needed to get this done right. 2) The group who have been going for a good few years really wish for further pull up bars / rigs to be installed into this area. This has been voiced previously to the council - however to the group's dismay a new cycle machine has been installed which 1) does not effectively work (the wheels are stiff) 2) nobody seems to use this machine at all I can now provide you with a full response to your enquiry. We arranged for the outdoor gym to be inspected by the company who originally supplied the equipment. They confirmed that the dip bars were installed in accordance with best practice at the time of the installation. This was the first outdoor gym in Southwark's parks and one of the first generation installed in the uk. There was no specific bristish standard for outdoor gmn equipment at that time. Both the dip bars and recumbent bike were inspected by the manufacturer and no issues with the installation or operation have been identified. The recumbent bike was also inspected by the manufacturer and no issues with the installation or operation were identified in either piece of equipment. The new recumbent bike was installed to replace a cross trainer that had reached the end of its serviceable life. The Outdoor Gym Co. that manufactures the gym equipment no longer produce a cross trainer, the recumbent bike was identified to replace it to ensure that the gym provides a full range of exercise?s that are suitable for all abilities. We have previously met with a member of the fitness group and advised them that we would support an application to the Cleaner Greener Safer Fund to extend the footprint of the gym and install the additional pieces of equipment requested by the group. The closing date for applications is the 31st October. If you have any questions about this response please do not hesitate to contact me " pr5ined Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi James > > I train regularly with the Peckham Rye Fitness > Squad. 9. Hi TheArtfuldogger, I thought Mynamehere gave a sensible suggestion of why the yellow box had been repainted there.
  10. Thanks BB, I'll try and get this changed. Amazing how I could pass so often and not see this.
  11. Further update on the old Police station. Their current hoard licence ends 8 November. If not squared away then council officials will decide whether to fine them and reinstate the pavement. They've check the register of utility street works and no notices submitted - usually two weeks notices - so clearly no excuse of waiting for utilities to connect these new homes.
  12. With respect to the grumpy faced speed signs (SIDs). I have also put bids for more of them. But the current council administration no longer allow them. They don't maintain them and as they fail their left. Clear research that they slow average speeds by 1-2mph. This doesn't sound much but can be life or death difference. I've explained to Cllr Charlie Smith that his administration don't allow them. He hasn't had that policy changed so they;re not happening any time soon. I'd like average speed cameras. I've pricing for them bur speed cameras are done via London wide Met system with TfL. So far proven impossible to get through that organisational treacle.
  13. I've just been told these changes to the website are now under way. I'm not clear how long it will take to come through but big thanks to everyone for pointing this lack of clarity out.
  14. And if anyone who lives in East dulwich ward wants a free anti burglary property marking kit - please get in touch and Ill drop one round. Attached is map of the ward where we can distribute them for free.
  15. I've also asked that the website be made clearer but remind people how much easier it is for everyone if people take any option when new fridges and freezers delivered of the old one being taken away at the same time.
  16. I'll try and get the council website to be clearer. Any suggestions of precise changes you think would help would potentially speed things up.
  17. hi Abe_froeman, Hoarding licences are charged for -http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200444/highway_licensing/2806/scaffolding_and_hoarding_licences But for a developer the charges are relatively peanuts. 10-50m ?320pcm. But I suspect this encourages officers to allow them.
  18. Hi uncle glen, We already have legislation around the area being smoke free zone. I guess if it's persistent enough council officials would enforce these laws. With 10,000 premature deaths each year we can't have an ULEZ quickly enough. Even better if people supported financially to accelerate these changes. And I don't think Euro 6 Diesels are clean enough let alone Euro 4.
  19. Hi rahrahrah, Not quite. The developers have found construction prices have rocketed. So they've applied to straighten the building to make it a tad simple to build and therefore cheaper. IN doing this the number of flats will be reduced from 22 to 20. Still planned two ground floor spaces. One a new Grove Vale library to be provided no a peppercorn rent 125 year lease and the other a retail unit. This retail unit was going to be Morrisons who have since back out - another contribution to the delays. But I'm told they're now getting start. The hoarding licence end Feb2017.
  20. Fab isn;t it. Rosie and I couldn't make the 2-3pm event in Camberwell as only a couple of weeks notice and work diaries couldn't be changed. But we did make them laying committee and spoke and obtained a few changes to help local residents for the permanent buildings. Let me know when you're free Charlie and I'll brief you on these changes.
  21. Hi The ArtfulDogger, I very much doubt it would cost anything like that to actively monitor it. But I suspect much of the monitoring would be via where vehicles are registered. Witnessed air pollution of moving vehicles what 10 years ago. The system cost ?100,000 then per vehicle lane. They could tell how many cylinders were working from the emitted air pollution. So the systems available now must be even smarter and significantly cheaper. Hi bil, People can find alternatives to diesel vehicles but people can't avoid breathing (for long). So again I think the balance of unfairness is people having to breath polluted air over finding replacements for cars and vans.
  22. Hi ford, stephent, You're right it would be unfair. But I can't help feeling it's even more unfair for the 10,000 avoidable premature deaths resulting from the avoidable air pollution.
  23. Hi rch, I'd love one of those access points locally. But you know most of the population of Southwark are in the Camberwell and Peckham area and further north - hence why they have MySouthwark F2F access points and we don't. To create a new access point would cost significant sums in both CAPEX and OPEX. My priorities would be getting the streets cleaned properly, answering the telephone with real people to handle queries.
  24. Hi Abe_froeman, Yes they do but once closed hard to make them reopen it if the pavement is kept dug up. Personally I think the council should give ultimatum either the developer reopens it with pavement made good or the council will do it and bill them putting a charge against new property. But that takes real effort on the part the council which they would argue they don't have the resource for - but you do it once or twice and developers would soon be more reasonable saving much more effort long-term. Hi Nigella, I made a point of going out at the weekend and reporting lots of ponding issues. Thanks for the prod though and sure it won't all be fixed quickly.
  25. Hi ITATM, That one of my feedback questions to TfL. Why the sudden requirement? The arguments originally given were spurious and showed they'd not visited the site.
