Hi jLo, Apologies for not picking this up sooner - real stinker of a cold that is proving hard to recover from. For something urgent like this please always email directly. I would have seen it on Friday and acted immediately. Either way I've now reported it and hope we can ensure it doesn't happen again. Unacceptable. jLo Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Morning James! There's a crew of builders with a > cement mixer on the lane this morning, next to > William Rose. former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?

Hi singalto, I have contacted Royal Mail and taken part in a first conference call with them. They explained that 8 February a feasibility study about closing East Dulwich SE22 sorting office. That a final decision hasn't been taken yet. I explained residents are under the impression two reasons for this proposal. 1st lack of Royal Mail parking and 2nd the increased volume of parcels. For the former I suggested it might be possible to permanently allocated several spaces if we knew what the scale of this issue was. For the latter issue they couldn't quantify the scale of this problem on our call. They have promised to find out more detail for our second call early next week. One comment they made is if the sorting office closed they could potentially provide an alternate location for parcels such as a local post office. I explained the local Crown Post Office on Lordship Lane appears to have only limited space. Frankly if this was a viable solution then the current sorting office would have even more space to remain open. -
This is great initiative and the first grant after 5 rounds of such funding to help East Dulwich. Hi green Goose, we've used CGS (capital) and some neighbourhood Funding (revenue) to dress local shops but it is really hard to get landlords agreement. Can you help us progress this further please? Hi blah blah, Social services is revenue funding. The High Street challenge is capital funding. The 40% cut from central government grant has been really painful. The increase in new homes has significantly received the impact - the new homes tend to be left empty attracting 150% council tax or lived in by people not using council services. The changes of rules so business rate (National Non Domestic Rates) being kept by councils has helped and will increasingly helping. The new homes grant to bride councils to let almost any planning permission through for new homes has also helped. The centralisation of 40 offices into one at Tooley Street was a huge benefit in 2008 still making a big difference in reducing revenue costs. Fees have been increased for services above inflation. Last yea 2% surcharge for social services and this coming year 4.99% increase in council tax/further surcharge. So yes the council has coped with over a dozen years of real-terms cuts in government grants. Fixing Lordship Lane pavements. We have some limited devolved highway repair budget each year. Rosie and I have reported various ponding issues which are we've been assured being looking at for repairs. One larger area hasn't had agreement from all the landlords and without all agreeing this larger pavement renewal can't proceed.

Hi bob, Will get onto that pavement being resolve - have reported it. Thanks. Hi Nigello, geobz, Ampersand, I looked into this last summer - this was first raised on this thread several years ago. WE had agreement then for N176 to use quieter buses but that left daytime... The 176 and N176 bus routes are currently in a tendering process. Tenders had to be retuned 17 Jan and a decision is expected shortly in March. The new contract starts 11 November and I've been told will include new buses which should be EURO6 compliant and much quieter. -
This has been done really well in Herne Hill. Great idea. We tried doing this on Lordship Lane a few years back but the lampposts weren't structurally able to take the extra wind load factor. If the odd lamppost needs replacing we'll find some other funding to do that aspect to help. IF you need any help please just ask either myself or Rosie.

Those sites were on the previous plan as well. Being in the plan as potential sites for development doesn't mean they get developed. -

Dulwich MP Helen Hayes votes against the Brexit Bill
James Barber replied to Beej's topic in The Lounge
It is good Helen has voted the way she has. But a three line whip from a Labour leader who wont be a Prime Minister isn't that hard to disobey. Helen won't see any negative consequences from her voting. If it did look like the next government would be Labour I suspect the whip would have carried significantly more weight. -

Oops missed that. Then we could seek to replace the 240L wheelie bin with a 360L one. But they'll need to email me to try organising this.

Bins not collected - apparently "too heavy"
James Barber replied to Rockets's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi rockets, That is annoying. How has this happened? They have one person who gets the wheelie bins lined up on the pavement and two different people to load the trucks lifter to empty it and put the bin back on the front path. Clearly the first thought it was fine and one of the second lot thought it wasn't. Is it actually heavier than usual? If it isn't email and I'll escalate. -
You can ask for a second blue bin. Any problems let me know. cosmonaut Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I would love it if recycling could be picked up > weekly. Hi lurkey, 30 hours of free childcare. First thanks to TheArtfulDogger for link that summarised the policy. The scheme will be 30 hours pw for 38 weeks pa which actually equals 21.92 hours pw compared to current 15 free hours pw. That pilots are going on now and the rest of the country is planned for later this year. My hunch would be as the scheme is aligned to term weeks that it will start either in September. I think you've also raised this query as a direct email to me as well which I'll respond to later today/tmorrow evening. Hope this helps. -

HI KellyG22, Yes. GLA Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon, after my request based on ED resident requests to me, met with train and TfL managers about Denmark Hill station and the appalling overcrowding. Unfortunately I was delayed by work and in the end couldn't attend. They're planning a new entrance and I've now seen very draft plans with two options - A with stairs to new ticket entrance/exit facing Windsor Walk and B ramp. My hunch will be completion in 2-3 years times - they have planning, awarding contrcts, construction. -

Council officials confirmed that they don't need two weeks and agreed to defer this until a more suitable time.
