local recycling bins- where have they gone?
James Barber replied to Huggers's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
WRT Sainsburys recycling centre. The council let it get into a terrible unsightly pickle. Sainsbury's after seeing no effort from Southwark Council to clean it up asked for it to be removed. -
This website might also be useful to find events on Christmas day -http://communitychristmas.org.uk/map/

WE're no longer clear local councillors will decide this set of proposals. We've had emails recently saying this will be decided by a Labour cabinet councillor - part of removing Traffic Management Order decisions from local councillors and centralising them. So I'd really like to encourage as many people to respond to the consultation as possible - and do email me what you said as well in addition.

Hi sanity girl, I'm afraid I don't but will try and find out. With Christmas my reply might take a few days longer than usual.

Shocking driving at GG roundabout
James Barber replied to Louisa's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi pop9770, No. The reason the community were outraged was the amount of Goose Green that would have been consumed and the proposal was withdrawn. This was first proposed about 16-20 years ago with a public meeting at St.John the Evangelist church hall. And more recently about 2-3 years ago. Hi P68, I like the idea of this reduction of the feeder lanes down from 2 to 1 lane. But looking at www.crashmap.co.uk it shows 5 crashes over the last five years of reported data all defined as slight. All 5 involved 2 cars with one slight injury for each crash. Council officers tell me that's remarkable considering the traffic volumes and its a roundabout. . -
Extension of NC Road market
James Barber replied to Alan Medic's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi Sue, Currently the North Cross Road market officially operates on Fridays as well as Saturdays. So a number of people have been fined for parking in areas reserved for market stalls that are never placed of come on Fridays. Rosie and I have been nagging officers for a couple of years now to remove those parking restrictions and suggested they expand the market on Saturdays. -
Labour Southwark have decided to remove all recycling facilities from supermarkets across Southwark. The argument is everyone has recycling collections for the majority of what was being collected at these recycling centres from their Southwark homes. Also the contamination of the recycling meant it was seriously degraded. But it does feel very counter intuitive to remove recycling facilities and residents have fewer options of how to dispose of recycling when they have an excess from events such as birthdays, moving, xmas, etc.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
James Barber replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi kiera, TheArtfulDogger, The diversions proposed would apply to ALL traffic. Hence my alarm and why I'm trying to find out what on earth is happening. As soon as I have an update will report back. -
Hi Marcia123, Out of curiosity I popped in to look at this thread. Happy to ask the head of leisure about this but if/when you have future casework for me please use 'my' thread in this section of the forum please. If you PM me your email address I'll copy you the first contact about this issue - I'll wait 24hours on off chance you want this. Hi Sue, Many thanks for trying to help. As an elected councillor for East Dulwich ward I represent East Dulwich residents but also have a wider Southwark remit as indeed do all councillors. And this casework sounds like a more generic piece of casework that the named libraries.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
James Barber replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just been told Barry Road will be closed between Underhill Road and no.206 both lanes 12-27 January. Two weeks sounds OTT but I am trying to find out. The proposed diversions are one route via Goodrich Road-Crystal Palace Road-Underhill Road and the other route and direction via Underhill Road-Upland Road-Goodrich Road. -
Local food banks are in Peckham https://southwark.foodbank.org.uk/contact-us/ and Kingswood Estate http://www.cpcdt.org.uk/kingswood-community-shop/

Extension of NC Road market
James Barber replied to Alan Medic's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The proposed changes are to close a little more if North Cross Road on Saturday market says - section between Nuffield and Archdale. DilwichFox, I really don't think this will have any impact on your road or road end so I'd be horrified if council officers spent money writing to you. Which doesn't stop you from responding to the consultation. -
Hi @Woodwarede, This consultation is proceeding against the express wishes of two of the East Dulwich councillors - myself and Cllr Rosie Shimell. We've become embroiled with the council legal department as the consultation has proceeded in direct contravention of a minuted recommendations of the Dulwich Community Council. Whether you support or object to each individual proposal you need to formally respond to the consultation. Posts here wont count! And officers are clear each junction will be assessed seperately based on responses for that junction. Officers did say the decision would come back to ward councillors but have since indicated it will be made by the cabinet councillor.

I'm been assured this sign will be replaced this Friday morning.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
James Barber replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi JDR, Yes and my home has had interrupted water suppliers for what must be two weeks tomorrow. I've tried asking my usual Thames Water councillor liaison person what's going on with the area but they appear to have left TW. But then I see the TW website is totally down. SO I'll try again tomorrow and report back. -
Another ill-thought out council plan....
James Barber replied to Rockets's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Whatever peoples views of children walking or cycling to school the timing could have been wiser with minimal effort. Long list of roads to be one and putting roads with school on the list solely during school holidays isn't beyond the council officers concerned. -
Please report this to the Police via 101 number ASAP. The Police would like to stop this vigilantism if they can.
