Hi Otta, I agree. But the south circular is a TfL road and so they are the highway authority for this junction. Relinquishing some of the land for a wider road allowing a pedestrian island other than via a Compulsory Purchase Order will need the cooperation of the Dulwich Estate as freeholder and the leaseholder.

Hi EdButler, TfL say they have final draft plans ready to proceed with WHEN the land/money is provided by any new development there. The plans involve taking some of the existing land, widening the road a little to enable a new traffic island in the middle so the crossing on that western arm would be a two-stage pedestrian crossing. Or at least that's what they're proposing. My hunch would be 2-4 years time. We could seek to pseed this up by agreeing with the Dulwich Estate and getting some devlovled TfL funding from LIP but I doubt the administration or officers would be keen to take this approach - it would be swapping speed <12months for circa ?50,000 of TfL Southwark would never see in the future. But I can ask.

TfL have told me via GLA Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon that adding pedestrian phasing to the traffic lights is dependent upon funding from any development of this site.

Hi P68, You may have a point. The publicly published crime stats cover until end of October - http://maps.met.police.uk/tables.htm Total East Dulwich ward crime 1/11/13>31/10/14 = 803. For 1/11/14->31/10/15 = 708 Residential burglary reduced in that period from 109 to 82 for the last 12 months with respect to the 5,250 ED ward homes. So annually rate recently around 1.56% or once every 64 years. But these crimes are often concentrated on homes with several flats or repeat burglaries of the same home or neighbouring homes - they know the lay of the land. Notifiable offences reported in October we had 60 of all types. So we are relatively low crime and indeed lowest for Southwark. But still 2 crimes a day being reported and anecdotally people often don't bother to report crimes. Failure to report crimes means less Police resources for our area. On this thread the Beauval Road, Playfield Crescent burglaries would be in Village ward. Hi Grok, They have extra uniform and plain clothes patrols taking place in response. But they're are clear we have very low level crime levels. My analysis is that East Dulwich ward crime rate per thousand population is average bottom quartile for Greater London. We'd be bottom decile were it not for Lordship Lane which has shop crimes. This is no concilation to any victim of crime. At the Dulwich Community Council meeting the local Police Inspector commented on crime levels. Burglary - very slight rise in reported burglaries from an incredibly low reported burglary crime rate. Violence- very occasional violence against the problem. Please, please, please locks windows and doors as the few crimes occurring are opportunistic. They will produce a simple guide as to what we should expect from the Police and how to engage them.

The decision about a new runway serving London. IF they delay the decision until after the May London elections you'll know they intend to select Heathrow. Zac Goldsmith (Tory) is 7% behind Sadiq Khan (Labour) in the London Mayoral race in one poll this week. Zac has stated in the past that he would resign as an MP if Heathrow is selected. So if he won the Lnodon Mayoral race and then resigned as an MP that works probably ok for the Tories. They might lose a seat but they finally lance this decision - at least for another 20 years. The bigger play for the Tories would be for Zac to lose giving Corbyn some respite and increasing the chance of keeping him in place for the 2020 general election. Eitherway I recommend people who find the noise annoying or oppose a third runway at Heathrow join HACAN.

Hi first mate, The planning decision has been taken including how deliveries will be made. In some respects it may be useful if they can;t deliver into their yard as we could use that to stop lorries arriving via Chesterfield Grove. Hi BNG, If you look at all those subways under bridges you'll see 'corduroy' tactile paving. Half parallel to cycling direction and half against. They cost huge amounts - the subways - to have constructed and the river was cycling budgets. Eitherway, this thread is about ED issues I can try helping people with.

The Thames River path on the south bank used millions of cycle budgets to create a quiet cycle route along the river Thames - creating subways under bridges swallowed lots of cash. But with Tate Modern it became so popular for people walking that cyclists driven away from using it. One of the more successful campaigns I've helped with but ultimately of no real use for cyclists. Hi first mate, The biggest danger for pedestrians on pavements isn't cyclists but cars mounting the pavement. But it still sin;t nice to be buzzed by someone cycling on the pavement. Hi ITATM, I disagree. Many children seem unable to cycle in a straight predictable line. Mixing them on roads with people riving even at 20mph doesn't seem wise to me. But of course I'm assuming anyone cycling on a pavement doing ti with consideration and not in busy areas such as Lordship Lane pavements.

Adults on bikes on pavements, not shadowing their children, on pavements that don;t allow cycling on them is annoying. But otherwise for children fine by me and legal (from memory upto the age of 13). It isn't like when I was a child with much less traffic no roads making it easier to cycle as a child on them. I had such freedom on a bike then - late 70's.

When Harris East Dulwich Boys Academy bused people from the intended permanent site to Kingswood Estate temporary site for two years it worked well. It meant the permanent site proceeded without having to work around children. So on reflection this is probably a great idea. The admissions being based on the entrance to the originally proposed temporary school is bizarre but suspect they can;t change their admissions criteria for September 2016 entry. I hope they do for September 2017 using the ultimately planned permanent entrance on the Dulwich Hospital site.

Hi Pipsky2008, Yes I'm surprised Renata hasn't commented. It is used by kids from all over the area. East Dulwich council lots have used some of our devolved funding to support some capital works there.

Southwark Council is planning to reduce its Youth Service budget drastically. I had;t appreciated these cuts would include this adventure playground. I'll check. The cuts are 83% of Youth Service budget. 120 full-time staff reducing to 40 part-time.

Hi first mate, When the notice for the traffic management order for those double yellow lines was placed in Southwark News that was the first I heard about them. As the northern side and the cause for them was in Peckham Rye ward. I was assured they were temporary to reflect the closed pavement. I have been in contact with all three developers. I have co ordinated that they now work together and will meet every Friday noon-1pm to coordinate the following weeks activities. Things should be a but better. If things don't improve I will need to review what legislation we can use to force issue. Hi Azalea, I don't know. A lockable door of some kind would seem more appropriate. Let me try and find out. Hi first mate, When those double yellow lines are removed they'll be five new houses with families and 4 new flats on one side and new homes on the southern side. So parking will still be an issue - but at least the pavements will be fully accessible again and road closures from builders no longer happening.

The 'upgrade' to this station was funded by the Access for All scheme. When they consulted Southwark Planning officers, due to the listed nature of the old station buildings, they refused to countenance widening that old walkway to the stairs. This then resulted in the new walkways, new ticket hall and gating line which is clearly under sized. It only has one ticket machine. The simplest solution is a new exit/entrance on Windsor Walk OR redoing much of that ?6M Access for All scheme not quite 2 years old.

Hi P68, My understanding is they have a petition with close to 10,000 signatures of which 1,500+ live in Peckham Rye ward. Whether this would affect how they vote is another matter. Clearly the current administration don't feel any particular heat from all these people at the moment. You clearly feel the other way to this campaign. You could always run a petition yourself or another thread for chopping down those trees, spending millions subsidising some burials.

Thanks davidk, Lots of changes proposed for people walking, cycling, using buses or cars. They're proposing to keep the indirect route for example that the 185 buses take - madness. So if nothing else please tell TfL to make the bus routes direct through there.
