  1. Best coffee and the friendliest staff in ED; Homemade on Barry Road. Also, their pancakes are to die for.
  2. Congratulations Julesonline! Third announcement of twins so far, amazing! We had our 20-week scan today and all looked well. We also had a cardiac scan which showed no abnormalities so we are very relieved about that. The baby kept moving around, opening his mouth and sucking his thumb. Fantastic!
  3. 7 pm works for me - thanks for making the booking Ginster!
  4. lsticker: We have heart problems in the family and they found a reverse flow on the 1st scan so going to have a closer look at that on Monday with a specialist. I think a thing to keep in mind about King's is that it is a research hospital so they will look at everything in detail. We were told that this reverse flow they found is something most hospitals wont even look at or mention!
  5. I haven't got a badge yet! Might get one though :) I also feel starving all the time. Everyone says that you shouldn't eat for two but...ehm...the only way for me to function is to have food available at ALL times.
  6. Clofty - same here! Although I do think that I'm starting to show, although it's definitely bigger in the evenings. And I feel a lot heavier too...
  7. Furners78, congratulations! You are due 10 days before me, glad your scan went well. I've not signed up for NCT yet, I was thinking maybe to do Adriana's one instead but have not talked about it with my husband yet. Hypnobirthing has been recommended to me as well, and I don't want to spend money on doing both, need to decide soon.
  8. Clofty : I'm with King's as well and that sounds a bit odd to me, I'll be 20 weeks at the second scan.
  9. Congratulations Marlene! And yes - looking forward to meet you all on the 19th. I've got my second scan on Monday, and for some reason I am more nervous than I was before the first scan...
  10. I don't have my own kids (but expecting my first in June) and only have experience of The Baby Whisperer from when I worked as a nanny several years ago. The baby was 10 weeks old when I started and we used The Baby Whisperer / EASY routine for his sleep and feeds. He slept really well and slept through the night 7 pm - 7 am when I started with him. It worked well for them. Saying that, I don't know if his good sleeping habits was due to the routine or the fact that he just liked sleeping!
  11. Both Tuesday and Wednesday works for me as well. Congratulations on your scan Sashabella!
  12. A bar/pub is fine by me, but maybe one that's not too noisy as it would be nice to be able to chat comfortably. I don't really go to pubs or bars so don't know what the local ones are like.
  13. How about Tuesday 12 February? Does anyone know of a good place to meet?
  14. Clofty, a different week is fine by me, how's the week after (w/c 11 feb) for everyone?
  15. When would be best for you ladies to meet up? Weekends/evenings? How about beginning of February, either the first weekend 2nd/3rd Feb or in the w/c 4th Feb?
  16. Sals12, twins - wow, congratulations! I'm also happy to organise, maybe we could arrange something for February/March?
  17. Congratulations Clairebear! I'm due a week before you on the 17th June. Was the 21st but was moved back a couple of days after my first scan. Got my second scan end of January and for some reason I feel more nervous about it then I did prior to my 12-week scan.
  18. Not yet...I only know that the husbando and I will probably argue about it! Also he wants to leave *everything* till like the end of May as he firmly believes in that 'you shouldn't count the chickens before they are hatched'... I disagree, not that I need to go out shopping now but I don't think that it's anything wrong with thinking ahead. :)

    Bipolar

It's very difficult. I don't want to sound negative but my mother in law has suffered from bipolar depression since my husband was a little boy, and he is 40 now. She has unfortunately never been able to accept her illness and will probably never stop having episodes, as she doesn't take any medication. Unfortunately the mental health care in the UK was a lot worse when she started getting treatments in the 70's, so I believe that her experience put her off ever having anything to do with mental health professionals ever again. It's very hard to help someone who does not want to be helped, but I do hope your niece finds someone to talk to, it might be easier if it is someone who is not a family member? Do you know if she accepts her diagnosis?
  20. Oh hope your scan goes well Higgles. I don't know anything about NCT classes as this is my first too, but think it would be nice if we all could meet up...maybe we can be clueless together? :)
  21. petra_29 you get the result the same day, during your appointment. You might have to wait an hour for it though, my husband and I did and went down the road for a coffee whilst we waited. Good luck tomorrow!
  22. It's amazing isn't it? So little but still very much alive!
  23. I had my first scan yesterday - fantastic but surreal! Have to say that I am quite impressed by King's so far.
  24. It still feels very surreal but I am expecting my first on the 21st of June! Exciting times!
