  1. It's ?4.50 a for a bottle of beer in the city. That's ?9 a pint!
  2. This is the email address I used to get hold of my saltwater kit. The police hand delivered this to me, otherwise you can order it directly from the company at around ?60. eastdulwich.fnt@met.police.co.uk
  3. The house now at ?590k was previously on offer at ?650k though! But yes, it's a 4 bed and not of the large 5-bed variety. I can't anyone offering anything over ?500k to be honest, but we'll see....
  4. You're not wrong. Unfortunately, too late for some though...
  5. Yes, I have smartwater - for more info search on this forum for contact info, or Google to the company page. Tbh, I think just a sticker on the front/back door with 'CCTV and Alarm Fitted', would be deterrent enough. Not a bad start for those not wishing to splash out on a full security system (I'm sure you can buy the stickers alone from Ebay, not that I'm recommending it).
  6. If anyone has had any dealings with this company, please PM me.
  7. Is it on the market, or recently sold? I'd be keen to look at making an offer as a house (in its current state) and keeping it as a house... PM me if anyone knows any details please.
  8. Turn the place into flats before it's too late! ;)
  9. Open or unlocked window/door = no insurance payout. Be very careful! I'm considering a fully security upgrade of my place. Alarms, door reinforcement, concealed cctv, the lot! If anyone is experienced in this or has anyone then can recommend, then please PM me.
  10. Sorry to hear that also sazzle. I hope things work out with your insurance company etc. I've recently managed to get hold of a SmartWater kit from the police. There is another thread where this was discussed, but if you email the person the the council, they can arrange for the police to visit and supply the kit for free. Does anyone have a good contact person for fitting the Birmingham Bar etc? I've been thinking of upgrading my locks for some time, but don't really want to fit it myself.
  11. Correction - ?680k
  12. What number? Kelmore has some beautiful houses. The last one sold for ?690k last May, although the latest offer is at ?590k.
  13. LostThePlot - Those that do, and those that don't?
  14. Ferrari and Sunseeker key? ;) (I wish)
  15. Here's what Foxton's says... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?xml=/money/2008/06/15/ccestates115.xml Or to quote, "Among the usual aspirational articles, the estate agent's magazine exhorts readers to consider Peckham - once home to gun gangs and wheeler-dealer 'Del Boy' Trotter - but, according to Foxtons, "now equally renowned for peaceful Peckham Rye Park, handsome Georgian houses and the forthcoming East London rail line extension as it ever was for tower blocks"."
  16. It does now it's been edited, yes.
  17. I would seriously consider changing the locks on that car...
  18. "remember your houses in only worth anything when you want to sell" Don't forget re-mortgaging! Not that you'd want to do it now...
  19. Residential derivatives are already available, although not as accurate as I'd like for purposes of hedging against a fall in your own property. You are able spread-bet or even buy a put warrant against a property index (normally Halifax linked). These are available for regional sectors also, so you can gain exposure exclusively to London if you so desire. So yes, it is possible to protect against a fall in your house price. The same can be said for those worried about increases in the price of oil. You're able to buy exposure in oil, such that you will gain from any increase in oil prices. It'll be tough to hedge this precisely, but check out the ticker OILB.L if you're interested...
