Fjgb replied to George Orwell's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I finally signed up to the online booking system last week and got an appatentl okay. Saw a new doctor Dr Torabi, who was very nice and got the referrals I neeeded easily and without problems. Today I am pretty happy with the service! -

On the se23 mums facebook group there is a discussion about the school. I was very impressed with the head. We weren't offered it but I would have been happy to go there. Whereabouts are you? -
Francesca Cabrini - September 2016 starters
Fjgb replied to Fjgb's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, I just replied to your PM but also would love to meet up for a play date this summer. I'll send you my email address. -
Hi, anyone else get a place at Francesca Cabrini? We're not Catholic but we are local and would love to meet other parents/kids before school starts in September.

We got Francesca Cabrini, anyone else get there?

I was at the doctors today to drop off a repeat prescription and booked an appointment with a practice nurse at the same time for next week which suits me. I read the 'spring newsletter' whilst I was waiting and it seems like there are 2 new doctors who are both part time but make up 1 full time doctor, plus 2 new trainee gps. Also the new booking system launches in April 1. -
I'm on maternity leave at the moment and interviewed for and got a big promotion when I was just about to go on leave - found out I got the job the day before the baby came. havent started the job yet though! And with my first I did my MBA exams about 3 weeks before it arrived.

Fairlawn had nursery places available mid year this year. A friend of mine was told her son could 'start next week' when she enquired in January.

Grammar schools for girls accessible from SE15

You would never get in to Grveney from Peckham. I used to live in Tooting and you literally have to live on the doorstep. Imagine most other schools on this list are the same. -
Professional dog walkers a menace
Fjgb replied to Ben Reeve-Lewis's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I was in Peckham rye park the other day with my child who is afraid of dogs. I'm trying to encourage her to lose this fear but when faced with 3 dog walkers converging and around 15 dogs some on leads some not all standing on the path in front of us making no effort to move and the dogs all fighting (may be play fighting but I have no idea) even I was a bit scared and promptly had to turn round and go back. Especially when one came running up to my child and all I got was a 'don't worry he's friendly' which is a phrase I hate to hear from dog owners when their dogs jump on you, how would they like if it my toddler came running up and smeared snot all over them if my response was 'don't worry he's friendly'. Anyway, whole heartededly agree that dog walkers should have a manageable number of dogs and shouldn't all walk together to create even larger packs that can be very intimidating. -

As I understand it, birth certificate is ok. If your name is on birth certificate as his mother I can't see that they would have a problem with council tax bill being in your name. -
Yes, packing is brilliant. We used Roberts and Denny's and thought they were brilliant but I can't remember how much.

MEN'S xmas pressie advice - help wanted!
Fjgb replied to Tanqueray's topic in The Family Room Discussion
When my friend moved to NY I got her a selection of books set in NY which she loved. Or NY films if he's more into that. Otherwise a not so obvious guidebook is the black book guide which is bars and restaurants and he could start planning where to eat (I usually have 4 meals a day in NY to fit in all the places I want to go). -

Went to see The Bear at the Albany today, very very lively. Enjoyed greatly by 3 generations. Plenty of tickets left. Highly recommend it. -

I really wanted to disagree with this but I called today and was told I couldn't book an appt because there weren't any and new slots weren't opening up till Friday. That seems ridiculous to me. Surely if there is literally not one appointment available they need to open up more slots right away rather than waiting 3 more days. -

The admissions team should be able to tell you your closest schools and the distance from your house to them.

Any advice about accommodation in or near disneyland paris?
Fjgb replied to echo's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We stayed at explorers as well. Had adjoining room for the girls with bunk beds. They loved the pool and the soft play. One night getting back from Disney the shuttles were so busy we had to walk but it's not far. If you time it right and don't leave when everyone else is its fine. -
I am keen to keep our original wooden windows as the stained glass is beautiful but our house is freezing! Has anyone got secondary glazing and if so would you recommend it. I am worried it might look really ugly and we might as well bite the bullet and go for PVC double glazing. Any advice welcome?

I've had a lovely afternoon tea twice at Cannizzaro house on Wimbledon common. Also Beas of Bloomsbury by St. Paul's for a hen night was lovely and great value although of course not as swanky as a posh hotel.
