  1. When the private schools are on holiday, the level of traffic around the area drops a fair amount (yes, hard to say what that is, but I'd say at least 20 percent). Levels also drop off more when both state and private holidays coincide.
  2. It was not a magpie or parakeet - definitely not green, not the same tail, and the sound was raspier, not screechy like a parakeet.
  3. It wasn't pigeon like in any way other than its size. I thought it was a corvid but they were too light in colour.
  4. Any help re the rasping bird would be gratefully received. Thanks
  5. Unless they rasp noisily, I?d say no, not thrush, etc.
  6. I saw a slim, almost elongated pigeon-sized bird, perched on TV aerials and screeching/squawking raspily and with a slightly fanned tail. What coukd it be? It?s not a jay or magpie or jackdaw/crow. I think I heard two of them.
  7. The school is there only part of the day and part of the year and has a small playground and has restrictions on parents arriving by car, so restrictions on noise are in place, they could argue. I am sorry you are sensitive to the noise but I do not think that it would be strong grounds for a transfer. Techniques like mindfulness can really help with not reacting to noise, etc. It works with lots of people, even with planes, etc. Also, your GP may be able to help with techniques to stop you from getting too anxious about the noise, etc.
  8. Mine was a second generation meter for gas. The leccy one works.

  12. This was the original map, with two routes (from which the Brixton option was removed?) https://www.peckhamvision.org/wiki/Cross-River_Tram#/media/File:TfL_latest_revised_route_map_with_rail.png

  14. Why not have a word with the owner/manager? It's a legitimate concern and any right-minded businessperson would not want to cheese anyone off especially in the time of a pandemic. People generally don't want bad outcomes.

  16. Express busways are efficient and cheap and have a feel of trams/light rail without the costs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bus_rapid_transit - again, though, not prestigious enough for civic leaders who always have an eye on what their peers are doing.

  18. Not enough walking, IMHO. I (used to, pre C-19) lots of young, able-bodied people crowding at bus stops on the way to town and wondered how many could walk to the station if that was their destination or to a stop after the station when they'd be more likely to get a seat. It's so easy for the vast majority of people who go to work and yet it's not got the option to wear Lycra or buy magazines about it so the marketeers don't want to know.

  20. Bulb has good credentials but effed up my smart meter by having a non-trained person put it in and then never sorting it out. I left and foudn out that the one I went to can't take it up as it was put in by a rival!

  22. I think that most people are being contacted by letter and text/call, so that would cut down on reliance on just the postal notification. I know from my postie and their casual replacements that the Peckham office has tried hard to plug the gaps against significat illness and knock-on quarantining requirements.

  24. I was so excited by the idea of a cross-river tram (having seen them in work in Sheffield and Manchester) and was disappointed when it was dropped (by Bori, no?) They are expensive, so what about a guided bus route instead, or trolley buses? Neither, though, has that continental feel that councillors and officers love so much!
