  1. Find My Phone says it is in this area but I cannot find it. Possibly dropped earlier on Friern. Please PM if you find it. Thanks
  2. Two large trees on Landells between Goodrich and Silvester were to have been removed last week, according to signs (insurance) on both, but they’re still there. Southwark has replaced trees in the past when older/diseased/hazardous ones were removed so I expect new ones will be planted eventually.
  3. Some folk are constantly putting household refuse, which includes food, in litter bins, which crafty foxes then liberate and eat (as well as leaving non-edibles strewn all over the place). If you’re doing this, please stop and use your own bin! Why use bleach? It’s harmful to all forms of life. Just rinse the poo away with tepid, soapy water.
  4. Most of the above but, as mentioned, blackbirds are much rarer. Cats without bells on collars are a scourge and menace, maim and kill so many birds (and mammals, amphibians)…
  5. This is the species. It was hovering around a privet hedge (no flowers).
  6. There is one opposite the petrol station/Tesco near the crossroads at Peckham Rye.
  7. Humming bird moth seen today.
  8. From a pedestrian’s perspective, possible cycling improvements would include using front and rear lights when it’s dark, stopping at red lights, using the road (and ever-increasing number of cycle lanes) and not the footpaths and not retorting with the F and C words when politely asked to do any of the above.
  9. TBF, the council has tackled graffiti on Walworth, Old and New Kent Roads - you can see that many businesses there have been cleaned up en masse - but Rye Lane hasn’t.
  10. Yes - remove shutters and put them behind the glass; apply resins or sprays that make it easier to remove paint; oblige landlords and shop owners to take action; patrol nightly, etc. There’s always a way.
  11. Boil - it’s the customer’s fault, not the delivery person’s.
  12. Always prefer to support non chains - so many lovely places with good food to choose from with pleasant staff who know about customer service and sadly, non English which says a lot for our culture, ? Does your broadbrush bias extend to Welsh, Scottish and N Irish/Irish waiting staff also or is it only non-native speakers that you admire unconditionally?! Hospitality staff are a varied lot, as are their moods and attitudes at any one given time.
  13. Jersey Moths are about and have been for the last fortnight or so.
  14. Of the two councillors, only one in that ward has ever responded to my emails or texts (for which I’m grateful, of course)….
  15. No, let’s be realistic and base our predictions on ample evidence.
  16. And don’t call your dog “doggo/woofer/pup”.
  17. I don’t want the gatekeepers/key holders deciding what or what doesn’t merit being on the board. It’s for council/municipal information only. It’s not right that commercial or political parties or social campaigners be allowed to take advantage of such a facility. So, if the key holder can work with the relevant councillor/s, this would be a great idea. If not, it woudn’t.
  18. Does air pollution reduce significantly when schools are on holiday? Congestion does, so I’m guessing it does go down but I’d like to see evidence.
  19. Council street cleaners sometimes bag up and leave them on top of the bins they empty. Some don’t. Best you can do is send images with date/time/location to your MP and councillor (via WriteToThem, with full address and phone number). Or, pick up the odd can or bottle or tied-up poo bag every now and then. How do we know for certain that binmen, street cleaners or bag collectors do or don’t have the time?
  20. Yes, it’s this kind. I only noticed it because it’s in more places than I’ve seen it before.
  21. How about doing what is necessary but not what looks extra-good on the world stage (such as fixing and hitting targets that go beyond requirements).
  22. No, it’s not fluffy and wispy. It’s like a miniature and green version of wheat. Anyway, there’s a lot of it about!
  23. I’ve noticed a lot more of that green grass that looks a bit like corn or barley. Is it naturally-occurring or should I suspect the hand of a “guerrilla gardener”?
  24. Please tell me where the *bats* are. I’ve an empty swift box so I’m more interested in the little flying mammals.
