  1. Which part of Upland? I’m guessing nearer to the cemetery.
  2. The board in the Village (just near the pub) is in pristine condition, full of council-related information (though someone had stuck a flyer on the glass, now removed). Maybe the councillors there actually CBA to make use of a facility that took time, effort and taxpayers’ money to instal?
  3. “Unhelpful” to what or to whom? It suggests you require any response to accommodate your views. It’s a forum, not a support group. Maybe the school run could be done on foot or on bicycle to be “helpful” to you and others?
  4. Is there a phone number for the Peckham sorting office that anyone could share?
  5. How could P Rye accommodate bus lanes? There are only two lanes - one in each direction. Part of the grassy area would need to be removed and then Tarmaced to have at least one lane extra.
  6. Poundland on LL was/is badly run. It’s often too hot, the products sometimes lack price tags, the music is loud and cuts out every fifteen seconds so I can’t say I’m surprised but I’m sad it’s going.

Tas on The Cut is decent and has tables outside. The road is not too busy now so it can be pleasant.
  8. How nice that the firm that charges you ££ to withdraw your own money is keeping its cash cow nice and clean.
  9. I went online and, after crawling through lots of options, finally got to a page that allowed me to make a complaint that wasn’t to do with a generic problem. I explained that lots of people in and around SE22 are having irregular deliveries.
  10. Lots of these bins are emptied far too infrequently. I’ve let Scope know about their bin opposite the Tesco near P Rye, and the owners of the bin at the Plough. Rags and old towels make perfect nesting material for mice and rats!
  11. Such firms can save you time and stress and provide you with builders/plumbers/etc. It’s worth considering this when thinking about overall cost.
  12. I smelt it also and asked a staff member where it was coming from a few days ago. She said it was something to do with cleaning but I wasn’t sure because it was in poor English and she replied while walking away from me at some speed. I got the impression it was a subject she wasn’t keen to discuss!
  13. Focus your phone’s camera on the QR code on the mudguard and you’ll be able to report any badly parked or damaged Lime bike.
  14. I and you and everyone else should not have to wait that long to see the station and its surroundings approach anything like a commercial and leisure area ought to look. The Lane has been a midden for decades and the council leaves it be, neglecting some of the poorest and least sharp-elbowed residents and visitors while having no such qualms in other parts of the borough.
  15. Good - if gentrification means the application of general cleanliness and something approaching civic pride and responsibility. Even a world-class restoration of the station would not translate to general beautification of the Lane. Business owners and the council care not a jot for its appearance. I’m all for the project to restore and improve the station but I have no confidence it will do anything to make Rye Lane even approach a decent place to be.
  16. This from a bumble bee expert I know: …try not to disturb it if possible. If it's actually underground, rather than directly under the old shed floor, they might survive as long as they can still get access. But if they were directly under the floor they're probably doomed, sadly. He also says they're most likely to be Bombus terrestris which is extremely common.
  17. Big-ass, etc. (and ass instead of arse in general)
  18. Great! Can’t wait for the added embellishment à la spray can, to fit in with the general Rye Lane “ambience”.
  19. Please place a bell on an elasticated collar on your pets so as to prevent needless death/injury to birds and small creatures.
  20. Lots of hoverflies (that look like drone honeybees) about today. Also, tiny (< .5cm) bees/wasps
  21. The doctor or pharmacist giving jabs at the chemist’s at the end of Half Moon Lane was v unhelpful and even hostile when I asked about the jab and any possible side effects, last time around. I told him I thought his attitude stank and didn’t appreciate being treated like dumb cattle! In future, just ask and don’t be put off, especially when the administrator of the jab ought to give you all details as a matter of course anyway.
  22. Perhaps if you witnessed the three cars parked in/on (because one must mount a kerb to park there) it today with no space for pedestrians or wheelchairs other than what was there before, you’d think differently.
  23. When does investing money into cycling - the routes, the planning, the advisory campaigns, etc. stop being cost effective? There has to be a percentage of people who will ever cycle, but what is that? How does one know it can be best achieved? When does the effort stop? Has the money spent already achieved desired results, or is it all a bit “finger-in-the-air” well-meaningry? I am sceptical that numbers will ever exceed what would only ever be a modest amount of cyclists (as a cycle-and-motor-vehicle-free pedestrian).
  24. And this on an Easter Sunday, when traffic is much lighter than usual! If you live near here and know your councillor, please ask him/her. If you don’t know, go to Write To Them and all info will be three. (They won’t reply to anyone who’s not a constituent, so I can’t do that.)
