  1. Ponding happens all over SE22. The dipped kerbs (for buggies, wheelchairs, etc.) are a case in point. All it needs is for Conway to simulate a downpour with a few gallons of water to see if their “craftsmanship” is up to snuff before they move on to perform their next miracles. Paving slabs often subside (maybe because the necessary “underlay” is missing or sub-par?) resulting in big puddles. Highways have poor camber which means big, long puddles hug kerbs all over our area yet, despite reporting them, nothing is done to put them right.
  2. No chip, no collar, no tag, no responsibility on part of owners - despicable to treat a young pet like this.
  3. It is condescending and patronising to like such “grittiness”. Maybe a small number of visiting trendies like it but I can’t see many others wanting the status quo to last.
  4. One dead tree near the leisure centre has been removed. Perhaps more are ready for the chop?
  5. Why is there a (very underemployed) guard, sitting looking at his phone in DL? I’d prefer more books and longer opening hours rather than this waste of money.
  6. No, I agree - that’s a given. Ask the branch manager to get his/her finger out and make it as pleasant a branch and experience as is possible in the circumstances - a bank as big and as rich as that ought to do so much better.
  7. https://report.southwark.gov.uk - easy and effective, mostly
  8. I think it’s a sparrow hawk. I had one swoop on a pigeon which managed to flee. Is your hawk near to Dunstans/Goodrich, Ilona? Maybe it’s the same one as at Crawthew.
  9. Sounds pretty typical of the RL shopping and banking experience! Southwark have cleaned up - literally - Walworth and New Kent Roads but leave RL to its own devices, which is perplexing. Best avoided unless you’re ok with litter, vandalism and the like.
  10. I noted the absence of those large bins opposite M and S a while back and now think that maybe they’re no longer there because householders/businesses were leaving their rubbish there and/or using them as their own bins. I have to say, though, I’ve not seen an increase in litter and actually think that the council does a reasonably good job in this regard.
  11. Car parking at D Hill will be reduced (yo accommodate cycles/scooters?), according to the A4 tied to a street light there.
  12. Please send a PM re lost item.
  13. Hello there, nice project, granted, but tying scores of plastic-laminated ads with plastic ties to street lights all over the area and then not making any effort to take them down after the closing date for participating, then repeating this with another set of ads for the results, is neither environment- or community-friendly. Do you not see the irony and lack of thought?
  14. Two dragonflies chasing and eating (?) flying ants on Saturday early evening, not near any water, near Goodrich School.
  15. Speak to the manager in person and, if you agree, tell him or her that the Covid era booking system is no longer needed and hasn’t been for two years.
  16. Dulwich is not vibrant - it’s pleasant but rather beige (and that’s a good thing as it befits the nice leaafiness which many find attractive). So, a place to sit down is not likely to add to or create the liveliness you mistakenly allude to and even if it did, there are plenty of other options to rest one’s lower limbs. Money spent (wasted?) on this Icelandic saga-long junction malfunction could have been given to, say, an experimental micro-bus service. Court Lane has a wide, tree-lined carriageway, comparatively spacious footpaths, and deep front gardens that lead to well-insulated houses with much outside space at the rear, so a fair bit of any noise or air pollution would be absorbed (should the primary use of a thoroughfare - to allow travel - ever be reallocated to it).
  17. Yes, by all means, but don’t use that praise as a shield against any valid criticism of that shop’s (or any other’s) blocking a footpath for pedestrians/wheelers (if that is the case).
  18. People shouldn’t have to walk off the (relative) safety of the footpath (a public pedestrian highway) onto a road (that’s meant for motor vehicles and cyclists - though local experience would suggest otherwise on that last point!)
  19. I’d have thought that the professional body that oversees chemists would like to know about that, even if it condones it so as to keep records as a way of putting pressure on whoever makes up the rules.
  20. These and other railings near schools are often used by private firms to hang advertising on, meaning kids of primary school age cannot see what’s coming a distance away (because they are not tall enough to see over). This strikes me as a hazard.
  21. Teabag tea, even the posh and dear stuff in nice packaging, is just dust. Leaf tea is so much better and you can adjust the amount you use to get your perfect brew.
  22. I’ve had the misfortune to drink lots of Barry’s. It’s weak on flavour. M and S Gold leaf tea is great - either in a pot or a tea ball thing, left in the cup if needed. Teabags use the dregs (or whatever the dry version is) so leaf will always be better. Bung the cooled, wet leaves on your pot plants, garden or in the compost. ♻️ 🫖
  23. It looks poorly cared for - no collar, long fur, underfed - so I hope the owner is found and makes every effort to care for it properly. Shameful
