  1. I had the same problem with my son. In the first couple of weeks we had a few playdates with a couple of boys the same age at the nursery so I think this might have helped. We didn't know anybody else with children at the nursery so I asked the nursery staff if I could leave my contact details with some other Mums (especially Mums of the more confident children). After a couple of weeks my son was running into nursery without looking back! Best of luck...
  2. What a lovely experience for them! However, I think these parents have paid a good price for this experience, I'm not sure you'd get this service on the NHS but maybe I'm wrong?
  3. Sorry, just noticed you didn't want to go back to France so forget the above!
  4. Hi! Can't do much better than this place... http://www.campinglesormes.com/english%20pages/index.html
  5. Really depends on your budget but here are a few recommendations for some places in the U.K. Bath- as it's a fantastic place with lots to see and it's easy to get to by train. http://www.thermaebathspa.com/treatments/ourtreatments/mumstobe/ http://www.thequeensberry.co.uk/index.php http://www.royalcrescent.co.uk/ Babington House is a real treat. http://www.babingtonhouse.co.uk/ These places are nice too that are in the Cotswolds... http://www.cotswoldhouse.com/ http://www.cotswold-inns-hotels.co.uk/property/the_swan_hotel?/swan Or either of these places as they are just over an hours drive from East Dulwich. http://www.theoldebell.co.uk/home.php http://www.thecrownamersham.com/ You could always do Paris or Barcelona but perhaps not the best if you want to relax. Have fun!
  6. Sounds like the same guy that conned me out of ?20 last summer! I accepted his offer to trim the hedge in my front garden and when he was quarter of the way through I paid him as I had to go out. Needless to say when I got back the hedge still looked the same and he was nowhere to be seen! Felt very stupid but have learnt a lesson!
  7. Thanks for all these wonderful suggestion people! Time to shop....
  8. Help, I have no clue! Do you have a 9 year old girl? What does she really want for Christmas? I have a ?30 budget....
  9. Hi! You could well be in the early stages of labour! The same happened to me, I was going in for an induction but they gave me sweep the afternoon before and it all started that evening, I gave birth the next day at 10.50am. I'm afraid I don't have any advise on induction as I avoided it but you shouldn't feel pressured into it but at the same time they're the experts. All I say when it comes to anything to do with pregnancy or motherhood is go with your own instincts! I wish you all the luck in the world and just think - you could be meeting your gorgeous baby tomorrow! :)
  10. Hi! I am about to employ a mothers help for 2 days a week (12 hours total) but am confused about what she will be entitled to when it comes to holiday and sick leave? She'll be paid cash in hand so do I still pay her if she phones sick and how many days paid holiday a year is she entitled to if any? Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks
  11. A FEW WEBSITES I CHECK OUT... http://www.babyfriendlyboltholes.co.uk/ http://www.totstoo.com/ http://www.i-escape.com/ http://www.organicholidays.co.uk/ http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/ HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY....
  12. Thanks Thelonious, that was very interesting as it was confusing me rather!

  14. We stayed at The Bath Arms in Crockerton, Dorset which is right by Longleat Safari Park! The room is big enough for all of you and the breakfast was amazing! I'd recommend this place to anyone! http://www.batharmscrockerton.co.uk/rooms.html
  15. Hi! I have recommended to 2 friends to use nipple shields while feeding, with 1 success out of the 2, so it might be worth a try! You breast feed while wearing the shield and then the baby (might) get used to the silicone feel and move onto bottles with no problem. http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Nipple-Shields_334235/ Best of luck!
  16. Like any new change sometimes it's sometimes best just to go for it! OR you could try doing both for a while (having the duvet covering his bottom half only and when asleep removing it so he doesn't get too hot). You could also try taking him shopping so he can choose his own duvet cover with his favourite character on it. When you get it home make him help? put the duvet inside and make it a fun and exciting occasion! Best of luck...:)
  17. Hi! My son used to say L words with a W until he was nearly 5. I took him to the walk in clinic at Townley Road and was reassured by the therapist that if he could make the L sound he should correct himself eventually. She also showed me an interesting chart of what sounds are expected at which age. She was right and the problem has fixed itself! I would really recommend dropping into this clinic for your own reassurance.
  18. Yes, Asset, I do drive to take my son to school! People are perfectly entitled to use their cars to take their children to school and drive on any public road they want! What we can do, if walking or public transport isn't possible, is partake in school runs and think about where we park to help with road congestion. We have the same problem at my sons school with people parking near the gates and causing safety issues but I leave myself enough time and park a few minutes away, is this acceptable???
  19. I was happily doing my usual school run route when I hit some congestion on Hillsboro Road. This is not unusual but on most occasions it sorts itself easily. However, the other day when I saw the congestion, I past what I thought were parked cars dropping children of at Alleyn's and I pulled into a gap, I was soon approached by an angry man that accused me of being stupid and couldn't I see that they were waiting. NO I couldn't, I thought you were parked! Anyway, it wasn't long before a woman joined in to say, very nicely, that the parents of Alleyn's have a rule that Hillsboro Road is a one way street that comes down from the opposite direction I was going in. I was getting fed up at this point so smiled, said it wasn't usually a problem and swiftly turned round to change my route. As the day went on I kept thinking how cheeky it was that parents of Alleyn's have decided to change driving restrictions on a PUBLIC road. I do appreciate it's difficult to find parking near any school for morning drop off and it's also a problem at my child's school but why don't you try parking a little further away, I DO! Many of us residents of nearby streets are perfectly entitled to use Hillsboro Road anyway we want, THANKS!
  20. Just be careful giving a medicine such as Medised, there is a good reason why they raised the age of consent! Many parents were using it as a sedative and tragically there was an accidental overdose which resulted in death! I myself have used the medicine on both my children before they were 2 and before the age was raised with no problems but I wouldn't advise using it if it really isn't needed. I understand one is desperate to have a smooth flight when traveling with a young child but after my son had a full on tantrum on a plane a couple of years ago I soon realised I'd never see the other passengers again and I should just worry about my child and not the other passengers! You can always ask your doctor for advice as there might be a safe sedative that can be prescribed that you can try at home before you leave! BEST OF LUCK WITH YOUR TRAVELS!
  21. Please may I have details. I'm not interested for Christmas but I have family in Devon and often need somewhere to stay. Thanks
  22. Don't waste your time and energy making your own icing! I used to until I discovered the tubs of the ready made chocolate butter icing from Sainsburys, it's really easy to apply and the kids think it's yummy! You can add flowers, sweets or use writing icing on top! The vanilla one is nice too! GOOD LUCK!
  23. I had a sweep for my 1st which worked! I was going to be induced for my 2nd which I wasn't too keen on so did all I could to give myself a sweep! Whatever I did it worked and I went into labour that night! My sister swore by reflexology! Best of luck!
