Hi I live in my flat and I share the freehold with the other flat. It's a typical victorian conversion. We have one buildings insurance policy for the whole building and it's always really expensive, but this can't be an unusual situation. Can anyone recommend any good providers? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Unbelievably bad experience using Dave to fit a carpet. He says he ripped the carpet while fitting it but I think he must have cut it wrong. So I now have an untidy join in it. He cut his finger and left blood over my bathroom floor and a blood stained tissue in my front garden. My door is now harder to close as he put the edging too close to the door. And there’s a bulge in the carpet where it hasn’t been fitted properly.

Gary did some work for me and I wouldn’t use him again. He asked me to pay upfront as he’d been on holiday and needed the money. Obviously I wouldn’t do that. Then I had far too many messages from him about me having to pay him the minute the job was completed as he’s got bills to pay. It was very annoying and unprofessional. The work they did for me was ok but not brilliant.

Hi I would welcome any thoughts on my situation with my builder. I'm currently having a kitchen extension built. My builder has caused all sorts of delays with feeble excuses, and between the beginning of May and mid September only did 8 days work on it. He has now told me that because ALL building materials have gone up by 40 - 50%, he is going to have to pass on that extra cost to me. I have spoken to the supplier where he's getting most of the materials from and they say yes things have gone up but not everything and definitely not by 40 50%, and they've only gone up in the last 8 weeks. If my builder hadn't created a 4 month delay on the job then those increases wouldn't have impacted it. They've now been back working on it for 3 weeks. He's coming to see me tomorrow to present the new costs to me. I would welcome any thoughts on where I stand and what I can do. I certainly don't want to stop the job and get a new builder. Thanks.
