  1. Hi Billy, I'm giving my little boy a bit of a rest from the daily struggle of trying to get him to take bottles. He had his first vaccinations yesterday so a bit stressed (or so I tell myself to use as an excuse for this break!) So far, I have Tommee Tippe Closer to Nature, Nuk Latex, Playtex drop-in and Breastflow. We have had the most success with Breastflow which I bought from HeidiH! We seem to have spent quite a small fortune on this now :)) Drop me a PM if you would like to borrow any of ours before you go and purchase them. Amy
  2. Sorry to hear that - it's such a pain. I had the same error message on Monday morning but it was one of the HSBC cash machines on Lordship Lane. I have just checked my on-line banking statement having seen your post but can't see any suspicious transactions so far...
  3. I too had a really pleasant experience at King's. I did have the wonderful Lane's midwives with me which was the main factor I think but all the doctors that I came across in the labour ward were really friendly and nice. My postnatal experience wasn't as nice as the birth itself but this was only due to noisy neighbours and I felt really well looked after by the midwives and nurses in the postnatal ward.
  4. I too would struggle to make it for 9! My 8-week old will be up (from 6am in fact - could go to work with hubby!) but I find myself needing to stay in bed for a bit longer... 9-11 session sounds like a good idea!
  5. There seem to be a few things that take place on Thur mornings (Pilates for mums and babies at Push if I'm not mistaken and also a baby singing class I went along to last week). My vote is for Tue or Wed!
  6. Great, thank you for the recommendations everyone! I misread your post Womanofdulwich - blame it on the baby brain!
  7. Yup! Just a quick train journey so should be easy to get to. Is there a good one near London Bridge?
  8. Now that I'm on maternity leave, I was thinking of visiting an orthodontist to sort out my teeth crowding (never wanted to wear braces when I was little - oh, how I regret it now) Can anyone recommend a good one in East Dulwich or near London Bridge? Thank you!
  9. Hi, I went along to the Sparkle sessions for a trial yesterday with my 7-week old boy (other babies were older in age) and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We'll be going back for more! If you get in touch with Anna (forum ID: Sparkle), I'm sure she'll tell you more information.
  10. Hi Ko, Congratulations! My little one's now 7 weeks and he too suffered from terrible winds in the first few weeks. I'm breastfeeding so might be different but midwife suggested stopping it halfway through if I can for an "interim burping session". Doing it this way seemed to shorten the time taken for him to burp and also, his projectil vomitting has significantly reduced at the same time. I have noticed that in the last week or so, he has started burping on his on occasionally so like others are saying above, it must get better!! (I keep telling myself that...) Hope you don't get too distressed. I remember being in tears because he was in such pain..
  11. My joy is short lived and Snowboarder and Emski, I think you might be right with the bottle types! He took it well for a couple of nights and now refusing again! Hubby is currently battling with him upstairs, I'm trying to occupy myself with the forum whilst listening to the crying through the baby monitor.. all so traumatic!!!!
  12. Another vote for Babington House. It's fabulous. The food in the restaurant is amazing too.We were there before our little one arrived but saw lots of little children happily running around when we were there.
  13. I went into King's 7 weeks ago on Friday night - about 11.30pm. Used Panther Cars. They arrived quickly although the seatbelt wasn't working and the journey was rather bumpy from what I can remember.
  14. Thank you everyone! We seem to have found the one for us - Breast Flow! Tried the Playtex drop-ins which he flatly refused but he's now had two full bottles on Breast Flow with my hubby whilst I was out of the room. It's taken just over 10 days of me switching between breast and the bottle and I'm sure he'll continue to show some signs of resistance (stubborn little thing!) but hopefully he'll get completely happy with it soon. The advice and help on here has been a lifesaver! If any mum is experiencing the same problem and wants to try different bottles, feel free to contact me!!!!

  16. Hi Heidi, We've had a successful night of feeding with bottles with the Breast Flow ones, so thank you!! (he refused it this morning but shall try again later) If you fail to find any stores selling MAM bottles locally, I was going to order them online. http://www.mamonlineshop.com/
  17. We have just bought a Samsonite one for our plane trip as well - haven't used it yet but it certainly is very compact and really easy to put up (you just unfold it and it sort of "pings" into shape) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsonite-Pop-Up-Travel-Cot-colour/dp/B0006SMQKS
  18. I have now tried NUK (some success but depends on his mood), have ordered Platex dropin, and will be collecting breat flow bottles from Heidi tomorrow (weather permitting!) and if all these fail, will also be trying MAM! Thank you for all the tips everyone.
  19. My experience has been similar (baby's now 6 weeks old). Was told by my lovely midwives from the Lanes practice (who are amazing by the way) that the HV should contact us within 2 weeks of the baby being born. I didn't hear from anyone and after 3 weeks, the midwife asked me to call them directly. Left 2 voicemails and 2 days later, heard from the HV. She eventually visited twice and similar to other mums' experience, filled out some sections of the Red Book and advised me to visit the weighing clinic when I want to. I was a bit disappointed but put it down to the fact that it was such a stark contrast to the lovely care I had received from the Lanes midwives who visited me at least twice a week (and on the phone if necessary - I called them up in tears at least twice) after the birth of our boy until they discharged me when he was 3 weeks old.
  20. Thank you everyone. We purchased a Nuk latex today and had some success (had to trick him into thinking it was my breast by switching it half way through) but was quite traumatic for all involved. Hubby did tried it first whilst I was peeking from outside the door in tears as the bub was in screaming fits!!! Shall persevere.. BellendenBear, it's such a shame I was too late to claim your bottles!!!! Would have been perfect!
  21. Thank you for this - HeidiHi, would love to try the breast flow bottles. Will send you a PM!
  22. Am hoping experienced mums can offer some advice. Our baby boy is now 6 weeks old and I have been exclusively breast feeding him. I have recenlty started expressing some milk so that his daddy can do some of the feeding but he really hates it!!! We're using Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles - should I try different brands or is it just a case of persevering with it?
  23. Another one for the Dulwich Medical Centre - more specifically, the Lanes midwives. Our baby boy arrived 5 weeks ago and the Lanes team was absolutely fantastic. I was in the labour ward for 24 hours and couldn't have done it without the Lanes midwives.
  24. Hi Fiskaroo, We also had a ginger tom from a few doors down that kept coming into our house. Although he is adorable and our two cats are good friends with him, we also decided to get a microship flap. It wasn't cheap but thoroughly worth it so I recommend it. Hope it gets sorted out amicably!
