  1. Another recommendation here for Niko. He has carried out work for me many times, most recently replacing a faulty shower and has always done a fantastic job, even coming out to work in my house when I was away for the weekend. He's a very handy contact to have available as he's very knowledgable and easy to talk to, happy to offer advice and not a rip-off when it comes to pricing as well.
  2. I rate Seabass very highly - in two services they've diagnosed faults with my bikes that would have been catastrophic if I'd been riding when the faults revealed themselves. The coffee is good too. I think they are pretty well booked up though.
  3. I think offering some wider bays further away for the entrance would suffice for a lot of parents. The gaps between the bays are the reason I use those spaces, I would not be averse to having to walk a bit further to use them.
  4. Niko is a really fantastic plumber who happens to also be a really nice guy. Having last used his services around four years ago, he remembered me this weekend when he came out to replace my shower pump - which is now fully operational and a hundred times quieter than before. He even identified two other jobs that needed doing, one of which I didn't know about and the other I was putting off, and got them sorted at the same time - for a cheaper price in all than I had been quoted by other plumbers recommended on here. He's tidy and considerate when working, taking care to not disturb my sleeping two-year-old and he's always offering honest advice and help, as well as insisting on updates to make sure the work is good after a few days of use. His number is 07818 607583. I usually text him when I need help and he'll call me back at his convenience. I would highly recommend him if you're after a plumber.
  5. Might not be the direct help you were hoping for but this link might help - https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/Origin-is-not-running-message-d3382ced-984c6a38-00000000/td-p/4172403 I remember the agony of waiting for my Dad to figure out how to install Earthworm Jim 20 odd years ago so I hope it's helpful!
  6. The crowdfunding has now opened - the link is https://www.spacehive.com/peckham-lido
  7. They should keep with the heritage of this building and call it The Ground Cow
  8. Seems sensible, I cant remember the last time I bought a ticket from the ticket office. With the prevalence of Oyster cards and the fact the ticket office can't top them up they seem increasingly pointless.
  9. The timetables were changed before Christmas and for whatever reason there is no longer a direct train. Might be that this only applies to weekdays though if you got on on Saturday.
  10. I'm not sure how effective it might be, but I recently heard about this podcast designed to bore you to sleep, could be worth a go considering how easy it is to try - http://www.sleepwithmepodcast.com/
  11. We hired the whole pub at The Lordship. They do have a function room upstairs but it wasn't big enough to fit all our guests.
  12. We had our reception at The Lordship and we're very happy with how well everything went, and how well looked after we were.
  13. It is likely the pictures will be recoverable, the hard drive is usually protected from spillages. It should be reasonably trivial for a computer repair place to remove the drive and copy files over to a new computer or external drive. I'd definitely recommend picking up an external drive and making regular backups when you've got your new machine - will give you some peace of mind should anything like this happen again in the future.
  14. I don't really understand how you can think this is not necessary. Rye Lane is disgusting due to the fly tipping and business waste that lines the pavements. It makes sense to me that someone should be appointed to take charge of stopping it.
  15. Slavek came to my house yesterday to diagnose a fault with my lighting. He found and fixed the problem in under an hour, and gave me advice on how to prevent it happening again. I will be keeping his number in case anything else comes up in future and can recommend his services.
  16. I've been having some very slow speeds wireless, but the same as normal when connected to the router via ethernet. Logged into the router and changed the wireless channel and it's back to normal. Might be worth a go
  17. Another recommendation for Niko, he came out to mine the other evening to install a new valve for a dishwasher. Second time he's done work for me and both times he's been quick to respond, friendly and reasonably priced.
  18. The next KERB event is on the 2nd of August.
  19. I'm really looking forward to trying Miss P's ribs as well - they look amazing. I wonder if one day this thread might manage more than five on-topic posts in a row.
  20. it may also be worth posting this on lfgss - a london cycling forum
  21. I read a while ago that they periodically insert red herrings into maps, to allow them to detect any maps that have been directly copied. I seem to recall there was a town name somewhere in London that was Chinese symbols for a few weeks.
  22. I have BT infinity and am just north east of Peckham Rye and get 30mb down, 16 up and 12ms ping (based on a speed test just now). I'm happy with the service and the speeds, but I did have to wait some time for installation (6 weeks I think)
  23. Horsebox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Egg Boss scotch eggs are definitely worth a try, > if you're not already acquainted, - in particular > the black pudding and the hot sauce varieties. > > They cost ?6-?12 per egg (in real money that's > ?2.50 per egg or 3 for ?6, I believe). I think you may have missed the boat on the Egg Boss - I think he's only making scotch eggs now on special occasions. His latest venture is paleo food - various recipes that cater for those on the paleo diet.
  24. Where are you paying a tenner for a burger or a hot dog? I can see why you're angry - you've been ripped off.
  25. I found Niko's number on this thread after having a bit of a nightmare with other plumbers. Just had to sign up to echo everyone else's praises. I called Niko on Thursday about a leak and he was round today to fix it (on a Sunday), as well as a couple of other bits. He's a really nice guy who's easy to get on with, clearly knows what he's doing and charges very reasonable rates. I will definitely be calling him again next time things go wrong.
