  1. And another Maclaren vote here. My tall 3 year old daughter stopped napping in her cot at just before 2yrs but fortunately continued to happily sleep in the buggy, including when 'parked'. Ours is a Sport which is a bit lighter & less sturdy than the XT and although it doesn't recline completely flat it's enough to nap. It also has a bit you can pull out to support their legs when it's reclined. Very good use of the approx ?120 it cost at the time I reckon!
  2. If you don't mind staying in London for your day trip, how about Kew Gardens which, as well as beautiful grounds and a playground if the weather's good, also has a great indoor play area plus various conservatories, a small aquarium (take sling as it's downstairs with no lift) and a family friendly cafe.
  3. Congratulations. 2yr 7 month gap here. Second "there's a house inside my mummy" (just changed the words when reading it as we knew it was a little sister coming) and also liked "My New Baby" by Rachel Fuller which is based around lots of questions('Why is baby crying? Baby's in the bath, can I help?) that prompt a bit of chatting about what the new arrival will be like. Also started talking about the baby at around 5 months, very casually, but emphasising how special my elder daughter would be to be a big sister. Good luck!
  4. How about: Wagamamas (good kids menu & plenty of bustle & lots to watch; in Leicester Sq or Covent Garden) or Byron Burger (Haymarket or Soho - have eaten at the Cov Garden & Soho ones with baby & toddler, macaroni cheese a hit & the staff were great) or Nandos (Cov Garden or Soho - quick & easy and popular ice lollies for pudding.
  5. I've just been cleaning up my Phil & Ted Sport (navy blue, bought new, good condition, all the extras including double kit, cocoon etc, 1.5 yrs use)to sell but not got round to posting an ad yet. Please PM me if you're interested.
  6. Waitrose currently have a promotion on where it's ?75 total off your first five online grocery shops if you spend ?75 or more each time (so ?5 off first, ?10 off second etc)It's free delivery any day of the week - you have to have done all 5 shops by 18 Jan 2014. So far the first 2 deliveries were fine but agree with GinaG3 re the Beckenham store as on the third delivery I needed about ?10 refunded as items were missing. Will make 2 more orders to complete the deal as their food is good quality, but then probably revert to Sainsburys or Ocado as they have a wider choice.
  7. I'm also a cocoon fan, for the same reasons as Otta. Had an old Sport one. Also with your second baby they are really handy if s/he falls asleep on the way to an activity where you can't take the buggy in; you can carry him/her inside still asleep in the cocoon. Used mine for about 4.5 months. And a sling is also brilliant so baby number 2 gets cuddles/snoozes whilst you're chasing round after child number 1...
  8. Does anyone know from previous years how much difference a bulge class makes to admissions for a very popular school such as Fairlawn or Horniman? How much further did the furthest distance become from which the furthest away child was offered a place?
  9. Hi Southern comfort and sanity girl - would still be lovely to meet up, I'll pm you both.
  10. Hello, my 3.5 year old daughter's starting at DVPS nursery (Dulwich Common) in September - would anyone with a little one of a similar age who's already there or who'll also be new next term like to meet up? Especially as we're new to the area it'd be lovely to see a couple of friendly faces that my daughter knows when she starts! Ali
  11. Hi, our 3 year old daughter's in a Jamestown wooden framed single bed from Mothercare which is easy to put together, has room underneath for storage boxes & has been sturdy enough so far to cope with lots of jumping! They are reduced on their website at the moment from ?180 to ?90. We got a John Lewis Little Home mattress for it which is very comfy plus a Babydan wooden guard for the side.
  12. Hello, yes I'd be interested in this class, please keep me posted. Ali
  13. Ah that sounds really handy too, thanks, I'll have a look. Have also been to a couple of the Horniman's Busy Bees song/story telling sessions which are good for both ages & ideal with a trip to the beautiful gardens. They're running various sessions through the summer holidays too.
  14. Hello, I'd love to meet up too, we've just moved here 4 weeks ago. I have a 3.5 year old and a 10 month old and I'm a full time mum at the moment until I'm back at work 3 days a week from the end of September. See you next Tuesday.
  15. Thanks everyone, lots of really helpful ideas!
  16. Hello, We've recently moved to East Dulwich (just off Forest Hill Road, near Peckham Rye Park) and I'd love to hear from other parents with suggestions for activities over the summer holidays for a 3 year old and 10 month old. If the weather stays like this I imagine we'll continue to hang out in various parks every day - but in case not, what's good to do and is suitable for 0-5yrs so I can take both of my little ones along? In our previous area, most of the children's centre/community centre type activities closed throughout the school holidays - is it the same here? Thanks!
