  1. Does anyone have a recommendation for dishwasher repairs locally or any expertise? My Whirlpool is running cold and I wondered if it could be related to a power outage we had - or if it could be the other way around - would a blown heating element cause the electricity to trip? Either way, local recommendations please!
  2. I came home this evening to find a man eying my open upstairs window suspiciously. When I questioned him he made up something fairly implausible and strode off. Call me super suspicious without any evidence whatsoever but another 10 minutes and I imagine we would have been turned over. Bank holiday opportunist, thankfully we arrived in time. Just saying incase anyone else fancies leaving their windows open inviting trouble. It's so nice here I was lulled into a false sense of security, which is a bit foolish on reflection.
  3. As does paragraph 4 edhistory. Ever tried to attend the 1 o clock club? Councillor Hamvas is a very good conduit for Southwark Council good news and I think we would be prudent to ensure the Adventure Playground survives ourselves!!!
  4. I agree. As does the assertions about the one o clock club which does not effectively operate anymore. I have asked Councillor Hamvas in the past whether her role is to represent the people of Southwark or be a voice for Southwark Council. I think, given the response above, we would be foolish indeed to leave the fate of Peckham Rye Adventure Playground to chance.
  5. Need a man and van for an hour or so on Friday am....any recommendations please? There was a nice guy who charged ?15 or maybe that was wishful thinking......
  6. It got so bad I took to storing my cashmere in the freezer. I eradicated the problem 2 years ago with a visit from Southwark pest control......saw one again last night and am horrified. I didn't realise they could survive for 2 years. What a serious pain in the ass. Serves me right for being smug.
  7. Unconditional Parenting - Alfie Kohn and Playful Parenting - Lawrence Cohen. Both invaluable if you're of the mindful parenting persuasion. I also like 'Why Love Matters' - Sue Gerhart, because it explains in the most definitive, science and research supported way why 'popular' parenting techniques are a bit rubbish (not that I would be judgemental in any way - each to their own and all that).
  8. ...and us too......we've just moved here (me and 3.5 year old Ava) so would love to meet up.
