victor replied to Fuschia's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Wavelengths in Deptford has a "beach" end, waves a slide and a "jacuzzi" pool. It also has cafe-type seating by the pool -
Can you reccomend a great nursey in SE22 ?
victor replied to sheradene's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My two went to Mother Goose on Waveney Avenue a few years ago now, and many of the same staff are still there - there is a good mix of older very experienced staff as well as younger staff. The children were very happy there and they also have a fantastic outside space. -

victor replied to Ernie&Kopka's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Just wanted to say that both our two loved the course that they did at half-term, and came back totally exhausted at the end of each day which was fantastic! :)) Chris and Jo, have you thought about leafleting at local primary schools - maybe outside at home-time? -
Some hotels do special deals in the period between Christmas and New Year - Twixmas!

Dulwich Baths - refurbishment timetable

On the original bosrds it stated that the pool should be reopened May 2010. They have demolished buildings at the back, but whether it will be done by next May is another matter! -

Take a virtual tour of the new Harris Academy
victor replied to Reg Smeeton's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I heard today that they are definitely starting the school this September - the boys will have to meet outside Harris Girls East Dulwich at 8am, to be bussed to Langbourne Primary school every day. Langbourne is on quite a big site, and is half(?) full so there is space for the new Y7's. I know of a few boys who will be going from the Peckham / Bermondsey area, but I don't know of any who live in East Dulwich. -
Played football in Goose green this morning. Careful to avoid a large pile of dog shit we moved. Not long afterwards the football was covered in shit as well as son's shoes. The phrase"most dog walkers clean up after dog" doesn't mean a great deal when covered in dog shit I am afraid.

The poo is the main problem - my own son was outraged this evening that he would now have to play football with more poo potentially everywhere. But also, lots of children are terrified of dogs, particularly those not on a lead. So dogs and children sharing the same area freely is an issue.

On the pavement, I mean!

Lordship Lane's fine, but the other roads are quite slippery. East Dulwich Road from the roundabout to Worlingham - by the roadworks is an ice rink!

victor replied to jim_the_chin's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Wow, the Goodrich website is even more out of date than St Johns ::o -
Oh, it wasn't at 11.30! Glad it's not closed down - much prefer it to EDD!

Does anyone know why the Greek(?) deli - opposite the EDD is all shut up, but with loads of fresh fruit and veg and bread stacked outside?

anyone having problems with royal mail sorting office?
victor replied to sibbers1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Fractionater I am your neighbour, and a parcel we were sent has gone missing - funny that all the parcels we receive via couriers arrive fine, but the one to be delivered by Royal Mail is nowhere to be seen! -
The plans are still on display! The woman I spoke to seemed to think the pool would NOT be closing in December, but I agree, no-one tells us regulars what's going on!

Does anyone know if East Dulwich Leisure Centre has got planning permission yet?

Best Sunday Curry Buffet - Lordship Lane
victor replied to Marmora Man's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We always go to the Dulwich Tandoori - plenty of choice, large pieces of meat / chicken in the curries and plenty for veggies. The kids LOVE it there! And it's cheap! Top Tip - DON'T go to the Three Monkeys Sunday buffet - the starters were very good, but the mains were like soup with the odd bit of meat down the bottom - very poor value for money. -
Loads of choice in primaries - Heber, Goodrich, St John's and St Clements, St Anthonys, Ivydale, Dog Kennel all very popular amongst MC parents whose children don't go private

I was told by the Southwark play service that it should be open in November.... but this is Southwark.

dog owners/walkers in dulwich - doggy poo
victor replied to sweetgirl's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just returned from playing football in Goose Green(the Green)My son stood in a big pile of dog poo and now it is stuck to the bottom of his trainer. On the way home whilst walking down the path next to the nice fence he was lucky enough to stand in another pile this time the runny variety!!!At least most dog owners are responsible!!!I'm afraid that argument doesn't stack up when you are a victim of dog poo.Hello council, dogs cannot share the same area!!
